I want to specify which folders the treeview can access or not access(which ever is easiest).The following what I have:

I have seen lots of examples with a treeview to list folders then display the folders context in a listview.
But what id like is a checked treeview, that not only displays the folder list, but the actually folder contents as well.
When I try to access the folder "System Volume Information" and other system files I get the errorAccess to the path 'H:System Volume Information' is denied.

The code is as shown below: If I change the path from "Y:Activity_Log" to "C:Activity_Log" it is working like a charm.What is the problem if I use Y drive which is a valid one and I am able to access it from other VB.net desktop apps. I'm fiddling around with a small program that can delete a directory, including its sub-folders and files.This is the code I'm using: (Note-I found it on the net, I didn't code it myself)

So on click of button '2' the folders are cleaned out, and on click of button '3' they are deleted - it works great.Now the problem is, if any of the folders in the directory 'test' are not accessible to the current user, the program throws the exception 'Access to the path is denied.Is it possible to skip folders that are not accessible, and just ignore them, and delete the ones that are accessible?What code needs to be added to enable this ability?
I am scanning dir Info to gather data like size and dates but on access denied folders on the bellow code I get access denied error. How can I avoid this error and just skip over folders?[code]

I would like to make the call more robust: to return the folders or files not blocked by access restrictions and to note the folders which were blocked. Do those methods offer a means to do this, or is a recursive folder-by-folder call necessary?

This is somewhat of a multi part question, let me start off by explaining what I'm trying to do. I have an organized folder system with data files in them. Each folder has a set structure to their naming, and can contain sub folders and files. It will be a jagged directory system. I'm trying to import their structure into a TreeView. I have the workings of a recursive system that adds all files and folders into a ViewTree, however they aren't organized by parent/child.
So I get this...

How would I go about parsing the directory paths, and include them into a parent/child relationship... looking like this

Also I when the line item is selected, I need to know which file is selected so I can use it's full path to call up data (using an API) based upon the it's full root path.

The TreeView populates and every folder is visible, however the folder names consist of:Place #. Name the problem I am having is that the number range is 1 - 16 and the order in which the folders are being displayed is 1, 10, 11, ..., 15, 16, 2, 3, ..., 8, 9 I am looking for the folders to be listed in true numerical order e.g. 1, 2, 3, ..., 14, 15, 16
TreeView is perfect control. I have to load Folders as Nodes to TreeView, and files to load NodeChilds. How to do this?
View 3 RepliesI have a program in VB.NET 2005. At some point I have to open an Access2003-Application for getting data in it. I do that by pretending my program is a human user and let it do all the work in Access as a human user would do. Filling Fields, pressing buttons etc. I use the Primary Interop Assemblies for that. So far so good. That code is in use for over half a year now. In the last week I got Office 2007 installed on my machine. Of course I tested the installed version of my program if everthing still works. Every test was succesfull. But if I do the same tests in Visual Studio it always crashes.
All I get is this Errormessage: {"Das COM-Objekt des Typs "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.FormClass" kann nicht in den Schnittstellentyp "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access._Form3" umgewandelt werden. The code is total crap... causes my app to hang. Pretty sure infinite recursion is the cause.
I'm loading a folder (path), which contains folders and files, in a treeview according the combobox-text.
When I load the app. the combobox is filled with the paths. I'm using the SelectedIndexChanged to load the treeview. Everything works.
The issue is that it also starts to load the paths the treeview also gets loaded (slow), but it should only load when I select an item in the combobox.
I tried comboboxselectedtextchanged etc, but without any luck. Besides that loading the files and folders is slow.
