Storing Timestamp To Session And Counting Time Difference?
Mar 13, 2009
I am counting how many seconds it takes to go from aspx page 1 to page 2. This time is not reflecting a real clock.. Where is the bug?on page 1 I have:
Sesion("sessioncreated") = Now.Ticks
n page 2 I have:
Dim diff As Long = 0
I've a scenario where I've to move data from a Oracle Table to a SQL Server table. The column in Oracle is Timestamp(6) 6 being the precision. Now I cannot send the Oracle Data in string format. I pull the data straight from the Oracle Table, so cannot format it on oracle side. What I can do is format the data using VB6.Format to make it suitable for SQL Server DateTime. I'm doing this for Oracle Date to SQL Server Datetime. Can something similar be done for timestamp and Datetime.
when I add a product to the shopping cart it adds it very well but the problem is in the session, it stores it in the server not in the client browser.
so if some body visit the website from another computer he can see the added products on his browser while it should be empty.
Is there a way to save it on the client side instead of the server side ??
Is there a way to set session variables during login that are then available to reports? We have a reporting services server where we move and denormalize data from our transaction system for reporting purposes. In order to allow our users to login with the same user name and password from the transactional system we have set up custom forms authentication and after much trial and error it is finally working. In addition we have the authorization accessing our transactional system so that any changes in user authority is immediately reflected in Reporting Services.
Our problem now is that we would like to add some additional features such as locking down parameters depending on user authority/groups in our transactional system. We have found a way to do it but it's inefficient, basically we have stored procedures that will query our transactional system to check for access. The problem is that these queries will often be run for every report request even though the answer is unlikely to change. It would be nice to have access to session level data that can be set once during log in and then accessed from the reports.
Ok, so I have this code written in C++ that call the function SetThreadDesktop. I call this function from a dll when running as System user on Windows XP.
When called from a C# console application, the function succeeds, but when called from a VB.NET console application, it doesn't. With GetLastError, I saw that the error message was this:
SetThreadDesktop failed with error 170: The requested resource is in use (translated from french)
How does it come that it works for a C# console app and not for a VB.NET one? Btw, it doesn't work for a winform app neither. Is it a compiler option that I have to change?
I am trying to calculate the time difference between two points in time. I am using: Environment.TickCount.I set a long variable to the Environment.TickCount and then a second long variable to Environment.TickCount at a later point in time. I then subtract the second long variable from the first long variable, yet an incorrect difference is returned.
I have an application where event driven events are already detected. Each time an even is detected I increment a counter.I would like to add the following functionality:
1.) I would like to create a time stamp each time an event is detected and store them in some kind of data structure.
2.) I would like to count how many events are being stored (or in essence count how many events have occurred in the past 10 seconds, not once but continuously).
3.) I would then like to discard of any events older than 10 seconds note events are interrupt driven and can occur more frequently than once a second, but updating my count of how many events have occurred in the past 10 seconds can be done as infrequently as say once a second.
How to extend the session time. There are many form in my application like parent and child forms. So how can I make pop up to appear when session times out and the pop up should appear on the form where the user is currently in, when popup comes I have to disable all forms like(they should be transparent (i.e) user should NOT be able to edit them).
On windows authentication (intranet web application). When the session is about to timeout, the client should be presented with a POP-UP that asks to click OK to extend the session or else cancel to timeout the session. Which is the better way to accomplish this task. By Using Ajax Call or By handling it in the code behind file when the session (userid) is nothing.
I've created a custom clipboard because it's not possible to make my whole class map serializable - which is a requirement for the windows clipboard. However, I need to distinguish between users who are using my clipboard through a unique id. Basically, I want to be able identify a person who is sat at one PC with one or more copies of visual studio (or similar) open.
Let's say i am importing a time from sql with [code]...
i want to get the difference in time from the sql time to the current time. How would i do that?I need to get the time so that if it goes over 24 hours something is blocked.
I have a datatable which loads data from an Excel Spreadsheet. One of the columns in the Excel SpreadSheet was of type "Date/Time" in which date values are stored. Now I appended the datatable with three new rows and I wanted to store string values in these rows using the code below. However due to the fact that one of the columns are date/time type, an error is generated as date/time column does not accept string value. I have two questions
a. Is it possible to store string value in date/time DataColumn?
How do i check for time difference for eg: i have code like this
If GetServerDateTime() < Format(Now, "MM/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss tt") Then msgbox ("Invalid datetime") endif
i want to make it like if the time difference is within 2 min from the current time.... the application still can allowed to next form. Is there a specific code to do this....just to check the minute difference
I wud like to calculate the time difference between two values.I have two values which is the in time and out time of each employee.Subtracting in time from out time should yield the time the employee has stayed at the office If the in time is 09:00:00 and the out time is 18:00:00.The difference between the two would be 9 hours.
I am not sure if I should put in a Text Box or not but this is how I thought it might have to go. Textbox1 shows the start time of a procedure and textbox2 shows the endtime of the same procedure. I would like it if the textboxes were in a 12 hour clock showing an am/pm tag on the textbox's. Then in Textbox3 it would show the differance between Textbox1 and Textbox2 in Hours and Minutes.
I m into automation development of FMCG products using Micro-controllers. I get real time data Barcode 2D from TCP/IP connection. My task is to compare the result do some Computation with them and Store the incoming Barcode and results into a Excel sheet in a folder. I m successful with the basic working. Am currently working at slow speed of 1 barcode(22 char info) per second from the TCP/IP data (barcode scanner). Now, comes the real issue. I need to process atleast 5 barcodes per sec ( <200ms per process). I m partially successful with 3 Barcode per second(300 ms per process). so, thats like 300ms per processing. I need to achieve less than 200ms for entire processing. I have used threads and timers. but I m unable to achieve. Seems like storing in Excel takes more than 250ms. Since i come from micro controllers background 1msec is a lotta time to process for me. I m not sure how much time does it take and trust me i find it difficult to guage the time here.
I need a program which shows day and time difference between 2 dates. For example: The user chooses 2011/12/11 10:20:05 and 2010/12/11/ 10:40:35.Then the program shows the difference between them in days ,hours ,minutes and seconds.
Is it possible to use DateDiff to find the difference between time?I have two time periods i.e. 05:00 and 05:10pm so i would like to run some code if the time is between the two specified periods. Ive searched around and i think DateDiff could do this but unsure?
What is an efficient way (must be performed in a loop quite often) for getting the difference between two timestamps that come in form of DateTime-variables?
I have two date time pickers , namely "Date_of_ReturnDateTimePicker" and "Date_of_IssueDateTimePicker". Now, what i want to do is, that when i press the "total" button, the value of issue date should be deducted from the return date value, and the difference in days should be put in a textbox.
I'm using VB 2010 Express with two instance of AxWindowsMediaPlayer in order to sync two videos (the videos are of the same thing but from two camera angles). Because the videos were started at slightly different times I've manually set the start time of each one using the following
The problem I'm having is that whilst the WMP clock initially displays the above times in each AxWindowsMediaPlayer, when I play the videos each starts a few seconds out from the stated currentPositions.
The video files are around 300MB each and when testing with smaller video files the problem does not seem to happen. I'm guessing the large file size is causing some delay and hence causing the problem.
I am storing a session variable that a user types into a textbox. With their valid input, their session gets created and they get a little more functionality than the regular end users of the site.I was wondering if it is possible to find a way to add someone's session variable to the end of a URL. This way we can email a link to one of our clients, they click it, and their session has automatically begun. They already have the textbox to enter their code into, but I was told that it would be much easier for the users to just click a link that will start their session.
