I have a little "designing" problem in VB 2010. So, I made a cool abstract background for my application in Photoshop. And I wanted to make the form transparent and BorderLess. But, in order to imitate Windows, I also had to put in a very small black outer glow. So, I made the BackColor in a DarkGreen, then the same for the TranksparencyKey. BUT, because of the outer glow, now it looks like this:

I have tried this:
For i = 255 To 1 Step -1
MyPanel.BackColor = Color.FromArgb(i,Color.Red)
Next
This will make the background color fade to transparent.The problem is, I don't want only the background color to change.I want to change the visibility / opacity of all the controls inside that panel too..

I want the background of my form to be the same color as the window frame color that the user selects, even if that changes. I selected System->WindowFrame as my background color, but it always remains a dark grey, regardless of what I have my window color set to. How else would I achieve what I want? I assumed I was doing it the correct way. Do I actually need code that gets the system window color and then apply it?

I am trying to create a simple VB 2008 application with a resizable form that has a transparent background. Seems easy enough to do, but if I do nothing more than create a new Windows form project with one form, set the transparency key on the form to a colour, and then set the background to the same colour, and then run it, after about 3-5 resize operations, I cannot resize the form anymore, except from the top, if even then. No errors, just odd behaviour.

I have an app that uses transparency so that the background of the app is a custom shape.The problem I am having is the rounded corners are jagged. Not a nice clean rounded corner like you would see on an icon or widget. I have tried several different image types (i.e. PNG, GIF, etc). But it seems when I use the transparency Key the quality on the edges gets worse

I have multiple picturebox controls in my form. Both of them contain an image with a transparent background. I want them to be on top of each other. I've already set their BackColor property to Transparent, but when I place one on top of the other one, the following happens: [URL]. How can I make them transparent while they are on top of each other?

I can make the background color of the form transparent by using: "Me.TransparencyKey = Me.BackColor"
"Me.BackColor" is set to default "Control", which I think uses 240;240;240 as the color.But using that color as the transparent mask color leaves gaps in controls who are also using that color.By changing the Me.BackColor to a "rare" color this problem is fixed.What problem really is, is that using the "Control" color I get the ability to ALSO interact with whatever is behind my form, which any other custom color does NOT.
Question: Why is this?
Request: I would like to use a custom color as the transparent color but KEEP the ability to interact with whatever is behind the form, how can I make it do that?

I have a form, and the background color of the form is set to the transparency key, making the background of the form transparent. The problem I'm having, is that the form cannot recognize the MouseClick event (when I click on the transparent background of the form). I figured out that the transparent background is triggering this problem. When I shut off the transparency, everything works fine.My question is.. Is there any work around? I still need to use the form to be able to access certain objects that are rendering there, so I don't think I could use something like a "Panel" for example, because the objects will render underneath and possibly make them inaccessible.

Is it possible to change the back color of a form to transparent? I don't want to use transparent key. Because I want to put a semitransparent picture in a picture box and there is a big problem with transparent key. The semitransparent pixels show the transparent key color.

I've tried adding a splash screen ]...to one of my applications and after exploring a while I somehow managed to get it working what bugs me now is that my splash screen is in fact a image inside a picture box and the form always shows the control color behind so what I tried is adding the form color to the transparency key this worked, somehow now, I use a png image that has some transparent effect also what I've noticed is that where I would want to show the transparent effect from the image the transparent color that is set in the forum shows below is the image to get my point of view:
I'm wondering if I can remove that "pink" color (set by me in the forum) from the image .I want to get a effect like the one Adobe products have for example

How can I programmatically reset my form background from a picture to a solid color. I have no trouble changing it to a picture or even changing it to another picture, but when I try to change it back to a solid color, it won't work.
me.backcolor=color.red 'OK
me.backgroundimage=my.resources.dog 'OK
me.backgroundimage=(none) 'error
me.backgroundimage=my.resources.none 'error
How do I reset it back to a color? It's stuck in a picture mode.

i am trying to set one of the custom colors of the colordialog to be the current background color of the form. i am doing it like this: ColorDialog1.CustomColors(0) = Form1.BackColor.ToArgb it is not working. note that i only need a specific element to contain the color. not necessarily 0, but perhaps 9 or 15
