I can change the backcolour on a form but I want to be able to change the colour making the change the new default color. The book I am using shows this as an example so far:
'show the color dialog and if the user clicks the ok button,
'update the background color of the form
if colordialog1.showdialog = windows.forms.dialogresult.ok then
me.backcolor = colordialog1.color
end if
end sub
I want the background of my form to be the same color as the window frame color that the user selects, even if that changes. I selected System->WindowFrame as my background color, but it always remains a dark grey, regardless of what I have my window color set to. How else would I achieve what I want? I assumed I was doing it the correct way. Do I actually need code that gets the system window color and then apply it?
I'm having some problems with updating a form from a background thread, started in the MyApplication_Startup sub.As far as I know updating forms or controls on forms have to be done threadsafely.
When the application starts up, some threads are being created which create an object in which a download for a zipfile will be started. The object has some delegates to let the GUI know what the status of the download is, for example 'started' or 'finished'. Also the mainform will be shown on which a datagrid has been placed to show the user which files will be downloaded and in which phase the download is.
All this works amazingly fine but when I want to update the datagrid's cells pr thread the datagrid aint updated. I know the problem is that the thread in which the Form is created isn't the same as the thread which wants to update the grid?
in vb.net. Main form is transparent and I added big picture box to hold background image. Then I added transparent panel to this form but now i can see my desktop trough that form. I don't wanna c my desktop or other windows. How can I avoid this without changing panel background color? coz I want same image as my panel bg too.
I am using background worker to report progress on the screen. In the Main.vb I have the following
Public Sub report(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.ComponentModel.ProgressChangedEventArgs) Handles bwlistener.ProgressChanged Dim message As String = e.UserState logRTB.AppendText(message & vbCrLf) End Sub
When I call this from Main.vb I use: bwlistener.ReportProgress(0, "Some status text goes here") It works great. The problem is when I try to call it from any other module in my project.
When I call it OtherFile.vb: Main.bwlistener.ReportProgress(0, "Some status text goes here") It doesn't work... The program doesn't crash. Debug goes through everything but no output is actually shown to the end user.
i would like to have a trackbar on my form that will correspond to the HUE of the color of the backgruond, given a range of 1 to 360, and another trackbar that will correspond to saturation of the color of the backgruond, within a range of 1 to 50.
How can I programmatically reset my form background from a picture to a solid color. I have no trouble changing it to a picture or even changing it to another picture, but when I try to change it back to a solid color, it won't work.
i am trying to set one of the custom colors of the colordialog to be the current background color of the form. i am doing it like this: ColorDialog1.CustomColors(0) = Form1.BackColor.ToArgb it is not working. note that i only need a specific element to contain the color. not necessarily 0, but perhaps 9 or 15
I am trying to save the default color that the user changes via the dialog box on a form.
I have started the code as I thought below.
Private Sub btnColour_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnColour.Click If ColorDialog1.ShowDialog = Windows.Forms.DialogResult.OK Then
I have a form with transparent background (using png file). All controls placed over it becomes black at start then they change there color and comes to there original state on MouseHover. Its not the transparency keys problems since the transparency key color is different that controls back color. What can be the problem?

Im developing a web browser and i got an idea of changing the background color of the form 1 so i made a form 2. created 1 combobox and 1 button. The idea was to change color of background and then when i start the program after closing it it will remember what color and start up same color as before? Here is what i did but it doesnt work:
what I am trying to accomplish worked with the code in the last thread I posted a while back. I still am using this code, however, I changed the window size to work better and gave it a nicer background for the title screen of my project. Now what I am working on at the moment is making a settings form that has 2 labels. One for "Default" Layout and one for "Plain" layout. When default is at start, the default label is disabled, and when plain layout is clicked, the button is disabled and default button is enabled.Basically, this is a toggle switch for default or plain where if one is enabled, the option for it is disabled and the other is enabled. My problem is that when I switch from Plain back to default, the background Image will not switch back from the plain background color of "control"Here is my code:
Public Class Settings Private Sub LinkLabel1_LinkClicked(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.LinkLabelLinkClickedEventArgs) Handles LinkLabel1.LinkClicked MiDNiGHT.BackgroundImage = Nothing[code].......
I am trying to write a subroutine that takes in a string, outputs the string in the color red , then sets the color back to the default. My code currently doesn't return the text to the default color.[code]...
I have a TextBox that displays a color as its background color and the background color code in its text. I have set the text color as Black. The problem is that if the user sets the color as Black then the color code will be unreadable. How do I set the text color programmatically so that it becomes readable when the user selects any color?
I don't know what I did now, but I managed to somehow have form1's properties show background color as black, but it is a light silver color and no matter what color I assign it, it will not change. right now form1 is empty of textboxes, labels, etc. There is code in it for my menu and the other forms.
