I have made a form that creates a table in a database based off of the text a user inputs into a text box.I would like to then display that table in a DataGridView on the form so that the user can update the data in that table.Is there any way that i can add those tables to the dataset and get them to display in the DataGridView after the user clicks the create table button?

What exactly do I need to return in the function to get back the ID from the server? I'm simply returning a new integer right now.

View 4 RepliesIm curently writing an app for windows mobile (so its using the compact .net framework)It has a loop which finds out how many images are in a folder, makes a picturebox for each one, then sets the .image property to the appropriate image. It also adds the name, size, location etc.What I dont know how to do is add a mouseclick event to it?I probably would have a subroutine already written in the code which could be used, or would it have to be a new one made for each picturebox?

View 8 Repliesim having a problem now when opening a link in newly created tab.. i have a tabcontrol and only 1 tab for the main.. the main tab have only 1 textbox and a button the user put a URL in a textbox and after the button is click it creates a new tab and navigate to that url.. i can create a new tab after the button is click but my problem is after the button is click it not focus the newly created tab..

How to make my program not to use the newly created file 'text.txt'? Notepad fails to open it, it says (The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process).
I have a Private Sub that I execute whenever a user clicks one of two or three things, and in it I create a new tab in my TabControl. Once the new tab has been created, I select it then add a formatted textbox to it. However, it is not selecting the new tab and therefore only adding the rich text box into the already selected tab (not displayed, of course, because it has a dock style of Fill.) Here iis my code to select the new tab and format / edit the rich text box:

I have encountered a wierd problem, and I'm unsure if this behaviour is caused by my code or by Windows itself... I can't make any sense of it! Basically, I have written an automated backup system for a text editor. It should save up to 5 backups for each filename, each in a 'AutoBackup<filename><filename>_<number>.bak' format. Here, <filename> is simply the name of the file my program is backing up, and <number> is the first 'free' number. So if the backups are "Test_1, Test_2, Test_4, Test_5", the next backup will be called "Test_3" (since 3 was 'missing'). When there are more than 5 backups, I want my code to delete the oldest files until there are again 5 backups left. I am using the following code for this:

Then, after another backup, Test_1.bak is again deleted!I thought this was pretty weird so I had a look at the files in windows explorer, taking a good notice of the creation date... That's when I saw that after Test_1.bak is created a second time (after a file named Test_1.bak was deleted), it carries the same creation date/time as the old (deleted) Test_1.bak..So my code still sees it as the oldest file (while it is actually the newest) and deletes it...
I wrote a program that writes to a new created file a line of text. Anytime I try to open the new created file, I see a dialog box titled "Inconsistent Line Ending". I do understand why I receive this message. I wrote this program in VB.NET.

The other grid has the users who have garment issued to them. the style number is in both grids. I need to loop through the users grid and say if the contract number is 1 from the first grid then the contract date on the second grid will be todays date + 365 days (year contract) I have looked at using a stored procedure and also a for each command but I am just getting stuck with it all. I have a web application and on page is an update page to update some profile information. Below is the code I am using to update the table. But I think it is wrong. Does anything stick out? The connection string works cause it is used to read the database to get the profile information, I just removed it due to it containing password/login info for the db.player is the class of properties that contains player information and ds is the dataset, but I would like to update the database itself online.

I have an application that I have in VB Express Edition 2008. I have an MS Access database (Access 2003) that I have created a data reference to one of its tables. The table contains 3 fields ID (Counter), Name and Price (text and double). When my form loads I simply want to read each record in the table and create a variable with the same name as the product name and assign it a value the same as the price in the table. So, record 1 in my table has Prod1 in the name field and 2.59 in the price field. I would like these variables to be created when the form loads and be available until the user exits the form.
It seems simple but I cannot find reference to a similar situation anywhere I have looked.
In the Form_Load routine the following line was generated via the designer:

I had to add another table into my database and now I need to go back and update a page that allows inserts into more than one table. I didn't write this page, so I'm trying to clean everything up, but there are some parts that I don't really understand. Now I have broken the page and it only inserts into one table. The very first one that I insert into.ProductName: goes into the Product table.Description: goes into the Picklist table as Data.....it also is supposed to generate an insert into the marketing table based on the PicklistID which is an identity column. The marketing table tells the Picklist table that it is looking for a description. [code]
Like I said before, only the insert that goes into the Product table works. Before I added the Picklist table and tried to reconnect everything, this entire page worked. The code was a lot sloppier and didn't have parameters, so that could also be where I messed up since I am still trying to learn how to use them. I have gotten everything to INSERT except for the INSERT to the Marketing table.
I am creating a form in VB to enter customer sales invoices and need to update two tables i.e. InvoiceHeader and InoviceDetails. The Invoice details can have more than one line for one Invoice header. I was wondering if there is any thing like Access subforms or how can I update both tables through an SQL statement.
View 1 RepliesI have a Database with the following tables, PolicyHolder, Beneficiary, FinacialDetails, Gender, Nationality, Relationship, Income. They are all linked by ClientID primary key of the PolicyHolder table.
When i'm adding my data in the Beneficiary table using a DataGridView i get an error when im adding the second entry saying - FK ClientID already has a value and this value cannot be duplicated. I want the FK ClientID value to be saved on every record i enter under Beneficiary.
I'm Using vb 2008 and an access DB.I have 2 tables in the DB which is transaction and products.When a Customer Buy product the transaction will record and the stock of that product will deduct accdg to the quantity bought by the customer. Myproblem is products table didn't update. Stock of that product still didn't change.
View 5 RepliesI have one DataSet and two forms, Customers and Efficiency. When I make changes to the Customers table (Delete a Customer for instance) It does not reflect the changes on the Efficiency table. The default form is Efficiency and I'm calling the Customers form from within the Efficiency form. I make the change in the Customer form, I then close the Customer form and call the Efficiency form back. The data is not updated on the Efficiency side until I close the application and re-open it. what code I need and where to inject this code?

Business layer communicate between 1st and 3rd layer. here my problem is I want update some tables through transaction batch. Here I am facing logical concept who to update transaction batch in business layer or data execution layer.
I have three tables Tasks, Notes & CallTypes Each item in Tasks and Notes has a relationship to CallTypes and my form edits work fine. However: Notes only belong to tasks, and when i update the note record we will need to change the CallType for the Task as well as for the Note and they could both be different.
I have the Notes working fine, but i cannot update the tasks. I have created a databindng on to a form from the datasources window. All the notes fields are ok and are working I then add the calltype field from the tasks, draged from the data sources window (i dont want all of the tasks fields, just the calltype).
The code does not through up errors, but when i save the form it only updates the notes and not the tasks.
I am in the middle of the creation of an application using vb.net. I have a database created in MS.Access which includes 7 tables. I connected this one with my parent program code. Now the problem is that I want to display the data from each column. I have 12 columns and 14 rows in my first table. How can I display data from one column in a Combo box?
