View 4 RepliesSo we're having this problem. A user goes to upload a file, and if it's above 10MB, it just kind of times out the page, and clears, and no good error is thrown to describe what happened. Ideally, we would like to examine the file size when the user chooses the file they want to upload but I don't know if this is even possible. Our framework is built with ASP.NET, VB.NET, and Javascript (and ExtJS 3.0), and it runs in IE.

Ok, I got everything working and running, but now I need to restrict the file people send me via form to 500kb, at client side.I understood you need a 3-party plugin?Is there no way to do it via aspx?
Alright here's my situation: I have a form. This is a very small form that can be moved with the mouse (formborderstyle=none). The transparencyKey is 0,0,1. The form back color is 0,0,1. There is a label on the form. I drag files to this label(its backcolor is black[0,0,0]). What I want is for the filesize to be checked. I already have the uploading to ftpcode, I just want to know if the file is above my limit I set. (250mb per file)

I have FileUpload Control on my Page:
<asp:FileUpload runat="server" ID="fuAttachment" CssClass="fileUploadCSS" size="76" />

($("#fuAttachment").size
Doesn't working. and
($("#fuAttachment").width returns null
I'm working on an asp.net website written in vb. I embedded fdkeditor in my page, and it works fine. As it includes image-upload feature, which works fine as well, I need to limit the size of the file before it's been uploaded.
I wonder I couldn't find anyting satisfactory on web, it seems fckeditor's developers haven't ever thought about that.
I'm working on creating a web application which is going to allow the user to upload a video file to the server. Once the file is uploaded to the server, it's going to be converted to .flv and copied to another folder in the same directory. Since I'm doing this from a web app, I don't want to tie up the app with the conversion process. That is when I figured this might be a good time to try threading the conversion process... what do you think?
Currently, my process logic is this:
1) User presses the upload button.
2) A dummy record is created in the database for the file being uploaded.
3) Folders are created on the server to house the original video file and the converted video file.
4) The original is copied to the server.
5) Once the original is finished being copied, the app converts the original to .flv and saves it in another folder.
6) Information about the conversion process is stored in a .xml file
7) The dummy record is updated with real data
8) There is a redirect to a page that lets the user view the .flv file on the web
We are developing an application in VB.NET that will need to accomodate remote users logging onto a Microsoft Terminal Server using RDP through the MSTSC.exe client.
Is it possible to offer an 'Upload' button which will allow the remote user to pick a file from his/her local hard drive and upload to the server ?

I'm running an FTP Server using Golder FTP Server, which is freeware. I think it's setup correctly because connecting to the FTP Server using the exact same string as above using Windows Explorer works great.
I'm designing a site that I'll be uploading content to from my VB.net program. I've also set up the stuff so you can upload content from one of the pages:

I am wanting to create an application that will monitor the upload/download traffic of a user. Can someone point me too some code that I can have a look at?I have found SharpPcap - A Packet Capture Framework for .NET, but cannot find any vb.net code for it.
I have found this code:
Dim Properties As IPGlobalProperties
Dim StatV4 As IPGlobalStatistics
Properties = IPGlobalProperties.GetIPGlobalProperties
StatV4 = Properties.GetIPv4GlobalStatistics
Dim Packets As Long = StatV4.ReceivedPackets
What actually is a 'packet'? Can I calculate the download/upload from this code by maybe multiplying the recievedPackets by packet size... or something like that?
I am writing a VB.Net app that has need to send a file to web script.
1. Dim uriString As New System.Uri("[URL]"+addNew_title.Text+"&price="+addNew_price.Text)
2. Dim myWebClient As New System.Net.WebClient()
3. Dim responseArray As Byte() = myWebClient.UploadFileAsync(uriString, OpenFileDialog1.FileName)
4. Dim response As String = System.Text.Encoding.ASCII.GetString(responseArray)
There is a problem with URI that I give, it says "Expression does not produce a value" on line 3. where "uriString" used. When I used myWebClient.UploadFile(String,String) it freeze on sending, so I found out, that to continue code execution I have to use "UploadFileAsync", but it does not provide [String,String], but it requires [Uri,String].
Just for the record, I will put a screenshot of code: [URL]
What do I have to change, so code is valid, or if there is another way to upload this file?

View 3 RepliesI've come across a problem with my program; I'm using MS Visual Studio 2010 with a VB.net application. I'm uploading a log file with .log ext to my server after my program is done running. I have noticed a lot of systems fail to upload the log file because of the firewall settings of their modem. I was wondering if anyone would know a workaround to uploading this file maybe on port 80. Here is the code I use to upload the file.
My.Computer.Network.UploadFile( _
"C:log.log, _
"ftp://www.myftpserver/logs/log.log, "loguser", "password")
Like I said this works fine if the Modem firewall in on low, but fails everytime if modem firewall is in the default setting. I believe it's using port 21 right now to upload.
I know the basic concept of sending and receiving response to server
