View 5 RepliesI am trying to trying to setup an updatepanel to update every X seconds, the problem is I don't want the control to actually refresh unless there is new data. So I currently have a child updatepanel in a parent UpdatePanel, the child updatepanel gets refreshed by a timer. But I can't seem to find a way to trigger the parent panel to update. Again, only when certain conditions(data changed) are met.

The errors all seem to be declarations for the lines of the array (strHello(x) = "xxxxx xxxxx")... What declaration am I missing? and how do I make the list give a random response to change the label text?

It bulids a collection of process classes (see below) and launches them as threads A process class that increments a variable. This is used to build the object that is "collected" in the Runit class.
Here's the code for each. Note that I misnamed ProcessClass. It would be better named ThreadClass, as it contains the Sub that is to be the target of a threaded execution:

The way this code looks to me is that when I trace into bDone (it used to be a boolean), I should see "1" on each pass (NUM_THREADS = 3; the size of the collection). What I'm seeing that mystifies me is "3" in all 3 members of the collection. Because of the initial loop, I might expect 1, 2, 3 respectively if either the thread did not update or I was passing through the same block in as opposed to distinct members of a collection. I can upload the project if that would be helpful. I didn't do so only because I edited a bunch of commented code out of this version that I've used for other experiments.
I have an update panel that has a timer set as the AsyncPostBackTrigger.In this Update Panel I have a repeater and in the repeater I have a few buttons which have on click events.
The on click of these buttons does not appear to fire until the timer has ticked.I have tried debugging and this is what seems to be happening, either way it takes ages for the button click to actually fire.
Does anyone know why this would be and what I can do about it?

I'm using VBE 2008. I have comboboxes in my DataGridView which is databound to a BindingList(of T). For some reason, when the DataGridView is loaded via me adding data to the BindingList, the comboboxes show a value of 0 until they are refreshed. Simply a mouseover will refresh them to the proper value. Why do they not show the proper value when loaded? The non-ComboBox cells show the correct value immediately.
The only thing is that the ComboBoxes reference data from other BindingLists, so they may be slower in getting their data. Do I need to put some sort of delay in before the ComboBoxes draw? Why are they drawing with wrong data in the first place? Alternately, if I can't figure this one out, I may need to refresh the DataGridView after loading. I tried that, but the trouble is, as the data comes in quite quickly, the DataGridView ends up with an annoying "flashing" as it's continually refreshed.
