I would like to create a program that will query all security permission to a given registry path. I attached the image so you have overview. I'm new to VB.Net 1/10 to rate my skill here. This will all the output I will put the output in a listbox or list view.
View 1 RepliesI'm looking at a website using Internet Explorer and Firefox. In each browser I select view source and see the website's URL in the links. These links were concatenated together using HttpContext.Current.Request.Url.Host in the code behind. However, when I use netcat or Burp Suite v1.3.03, looking at the same links I see the servername instead of the website's URL.
My question is - Why does view source in the browser display different links in the page source than what netcat or Burp Suite outputs? Is the browser rewriting stuff? My thought to correct is to have a web.config setting which is used to create the links. Next question - Does anyone know of a configuration change to make to IIS to return the URL instead of the server name or a .NET function that I should be calling instead to get the URL that the website is running as.
I am using an email verification program I have downloaded to test the validity of a given email address.I have setup a class in VB using Visual Studio 2010 with the required code that runs the check.I have then registered this as a COM so I can call it through VBA in Excel.In an excel workbook I have then created a module that calls the VB class. The excel module tests whether the email address typed in cell "A1" is valid or not. At the moment the VB class simply gives me a messagebox output saying "Success" or "Fail" which works fine.What I actually want though is for the "success" or "Fail" message to appear in cell "A2" next to the email address as opposed to the current messagebox output.
View 2 Repliesi am writing a library to take xinput from an xbox 360 controller and output it to a serial buswhenever i run the program it updates sporadically and does not compute properly i am trying to make it so that when the controller is in negative (ycontrol >0) it outputs 0-90 and when it is positive i get 90-180 i am also trying to make it so when the controller is moved in the x direction that the value of x is added to one side and subtracted from each other but is between 0 -180

When editing a code module, any methods marked as Obsolete do not (by design) show up in the top-right hand declration drop-down. (I've rasied this as a problem on another thread since it's causing me and other colegues a head-ache. Can I propose a VS setting to include obsolte methods would be a simple and useful enhancment.)

I used wsdl.exe to auto-generate a proxy class, to post SOAP requests to a webservice. Works fine, but I would like to see the exact SOAP request my app is posting.
Is there a way to do this? Maybe a tool I can use?

Where I am stuck:The I am not able to retrieve output after the events are invoked.The scripts are being called but then the program ends and it shows "Press any key to continue" in console windows.I don't what I am missing here.

The one I recently installed, is in its own folder also, but when I click on the button to call the app, it starts, then comes up with an "Cannot find file" error

I am running Windows 7 eval. copy and have been for months. It's great. I saw that the Beta on Visual Studios 2010 and decided to make the jump from Visual Studios 6. I watched all the MS videos on upgrading from VBP to Net and downloaded all of the upgrade programs and advisors. The programs I need to migrate require only minor changes. The video shows Visual Studios 2005 upgrading a VB6 Project because the upgrade wizard intercepts the open and upgrades the file. There are several problems:
1. It appears the VS2010 and VB2010 do not have this capability
2. Running Windows 7, VS2005 and the Associated framework will not load correctly
3.VB2005 does not load correctly
4.The upgrade msi will not load because the specified framework version is not loaded. Apparently it does not recognize Framework 4.
5. So I cannot migrate my VB6 programs to NET using VS/VB 2010. My only solution is to build up another system with XP and do the migration on that system.
So my basic question is do I have to build another system or is there something I am missing about VS2010? Does it have the capability to migrate VB6 programs like VS2005?
I'm currently using VS2008 and 2010 for various projects but now I need to test something with VB2005.Anyone know a link where I can get VB or VS2005 Express edition - It's free software but just can't find it on MS's site anymore and all the ones I find elsewhere on the web are full of malware.
View 15 RepliesI have compiled my application using vs2005 and put the exe and dlls on a network drive. The users running windows 7 that don't have write access to the folder cannot run the program. The users on XP can run the program even without write access to the folder. The admins with write access to the folder can run it on both XP and windows 7. Does anyone know what I need to do to fix it other than giving the user write access to the folder.
