Visual Studio 2010 - Wild Card Parameter For Textbox Input?
Jun 3, 2011
I have the following code. I would like to perform a if then check via a button click before the user processes the information.
Private Sub TestBTN_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TestBTN.Click
If TBSearch.Text = "" & ".exe" Or TBSearch.Text = "" & "" Or TBSearch.Text =
[Code].....
I would like it to just check to see if the text box info has been entered in one of three formats.
I had an Excel spreadsheet which I put in MS Access (database). I then took that database and used that as a source in VB to create a GUI for. In VB I have an input text box to search and pull of different fields. I created some queries for searches in from the text box. I have have a dataset view of the data which has the binding navigator (add, insert, save).
The problem I have is that when I hit the '+' for add to add information and then click the 'save' button in the binding Navigator, the information I put in does not save. I check this by exit out of the program run (debug to open the app) and then open it back up to search and/or check for the new information I put in. My overall goal is to create to publish the final code and use an a standalone program.
Also, as another option,(I would like to learn) Is there a way to map VB directly to an Excel file to have the user input information and save to the excel file.
How would i add a wild card for a directory, my code is reader = New IO.StreamReader("C:Program FilesStattrackconfigconfig_misc.txt"). i want the C: to be a wild card this way that if the computers local-disk is Z: then it will adjust to it.
I am trying to insert a wild card character (') in sql database, but error is coming that STRING IS TRUNCATED.
Text1.text="D'John Is Writing Dev's Books"
Here there are 2 wild characters (') in the text. When i try to insert this text in database, the problem is comming. The whole string should be inserted as it is, as well as to be retrieved as it is.
I'm using Visual Studios 2008.I'm building an app that will migrate a user's Desktop, Fav's, My Doc's, and I need the last piece to scan the C drive for .pst and .nk2 files. Does anyone know how to do that? I found the following code on the How To from MSDN.[code]
Im trying to make the below statement as such if there is no items selected/blank then the search term is a wild card (all results) otherwise search it. the sql below only works when all fields match, not partial
Is there any predefined property by which I can set the DisplayFormat/DisplayStyle of a textbox? Suppose I want a textbox to hold the actual value 888888888888.88 and show it formatted as 888,888,888,888.88. In short it should hold 'Double' data type value and show it with thousand separators and decimal places upto two digits. If text is cleared from the textbox, it should have 0 as value and 0.00 as displayed value. Also the number of digits in the textbox may vary accordingly. So how can it be done?

The idea is that I have certain values stored in textboxes/listboxes and thus can I store the information in a spread sheet. And if I change the value in the spreadsheet can it also change the value in the application? I had one idea which was to make both store data in a txt file and read from that, but I'm not quite sure how to do that either.
Will i be able to successfully install 2010 beta 2 side by side 2008? because i want to test 2010 features and some development toolkits such as silverlight while i don't want to uninstall my visual studio 2008 professional.
i am using Web Browser control in VB.net 2005, the application i wrote shows a webpage on my computer which has 2 text areas, one for input, and the other for output.my problem is, i need the charset of the whole program to be unicode, coz the charset of the webpage is utf8. and right now, when i process the input text, the output looks like this:
I'm strictly looking for a language conversion here of this:List<?> I already have a work around I'm just surprised that I can't find the vb.net equivalent of a variable type of a "raw" generic list that takes a wild card.Java's mechanism here enables you to reference a list regardless of what T is.Java even enables you to go further and do things like:
List<? extends Number> List<? super Double>I tried: List(Of )
and that did not work. That only seems to work inside the GetType function.
Does anybody know which version of Visual Studio 2010 contains the full set of Visual Basic SharePoint Templates? I am about to embark on a project to create Visual Web Parts to be used in a SharePoint report.
At the moment I am using Visual Studio 2008 and even though the WSPBuilder is installed none of the relevant SharePoint templates are present.Having searched SO and the web, most advise to install the templates via the Visual Studio command prompt: devenv /installvstemplates
Alas the Visual Studio command prompt is also missing from my VS2008 installation. So, the question remains: which version of VS2010 contains what I need for pain-free SharePoint development? There is a rather large price different between VS2010 Professional and VS2010 Premium, so can anyone tell me if the cheaper version (VS2010 Professional) contains all the Sharepoint templates?
I am just wondering how I can add Direct X references to Visual Basic in Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2. I cant find them in the .NET reference list, or the reference list, or anywhere. I downloaded the Direct X SDK for August 2009, but I can not add the .dll files to the reference list. Is there anything I can do to add them? I need the references for programming reasons.
I want to use "OpenGL" in my project. Is it possible to associate it with "Visual Basic" application developed in Visual Studio 2010? If yes then how can we do it.
I have a project in visual basic 2010 and want to convert it to visual studio 2010 so I don't have to chose the "open with" every time. Is there a tutorial on how to do this?
To reproduce the error I'm getting:Create a new Visual Studio 2010 ASP.NET web site in Visual Basic, targeting .NET 2.0Type "Public Property Test As String" Observe "Visual Basic 9.0 does not support auto-implemented properties." error Visual Studio 2010 is happy to use VB 10 against .NET 2.0-targeted Windows Forms applications, this only appears to be an issue with ASP.NET.Is there a way to force Visual Studio 2010 to use VB 10 when targeting .NET 2.0?
have just overlooked something somewhere...I am writing VB.NET stuff in VS2010 on Windows 7 64-bit. It seems to build by default for a 32-bit target, how to I tell it to make a 64-bit executable?
I got an error when I tried to open the designer for one of my forms in Visual Basic 2010 express and I had the option to ignore it so I clicked that (which I regret doing so much) and now my form is erased, but I still have the code for it.I tried right clicking and selecting show designer but it just brings up a blank form. I had a datagrid control called "DataGrid1" and when i tried adding a new control to the blank form it says that "DataGrid1" already exists but it doesn't.So after I resolved the first 85 errors I got one more that doesn't make sense:
Error 1 The item "objx86DebugWindowsApplication1.frmMain.resources" was specified more than once in the "Resources" parameter.Duplicate items are not supported by the "Resources" parameter.
WebMatrix is a web development and deployment tool by Microsoft so how is this compared to Visual Studio? which Use C# Razor Syntax is that more better coding.

I have to compile projects which was compiled in Visual Studio 6 in Visual Studio 2005. When i compiled i got a set of same error. I opened the project for VS6 by selecting File->open->project/solution and tried to build a solution by Build option but i am getting the following error.
At present I have wrote an application (in-house CRM, vb .net 2010) which allows me to send emails under the selected customer & I categorised these emails. As these are categorised I can return data to display email history in my program by using search criteria:
Dim oMail As Outlook.MAPIFolder = oNS.GetDefaultFolder(Outlook.OlDefaultFolders.olFolderSentMail) Dim sSearch As String sSearch = "[Categories] = '" + "[" + tAccount.Text.Trim + "]" + "(" + tShipTo.Text.Trim + ")'" Dim oItems As Outlook.Items = oMail.Items.Restrict(sSearch)
However the limitation to the above is it only looks at sent items & no other folder. My ideal solution would be to display all email correspondence for a certain contact.
Well I used the Visual Studio 2010 installer to install my application and I want it to be able to change the version displayed in the in the Add/ Remove Programs (in the Control Panel). How can I do this without going through the install wizard again?
