Visual Studio - Print POS Receipt Using 2005 With Thermal Printer?
Sep 29, 2011
Using VB.NET 2005 Express edition, I have a task to create a simple receipt using a Epson TM T88IV Thermal printer. I don't have any idea where to start. Can you show some good example or links that I can study to create an application?

I have a form which contains a list box. This list box gets its information from a access database. Basically it is showing a list of missing items. I want to be able to print the list of items which is in the list box. I found code on here, There are 12 items on the list, when I hit the print button, i get a list of 12 "System.Data.DataRowView" instead of the name of the object on the list. Here is the code I am using.
Imports System.Drawing.Printing
Public Class Form2
Private listItem As Integer = 0

Im making a POS system and so far all is great, im up to making the thermal printers work (2nd last thing on the list).I got my shiny new printers yesterday and they are a generic brand, they are compatible with epson commands (and yes it came with a book of ESC codes, which also confuse me).My issue is this, i "installed" them but windows will not recognise them as a printer. How can I print direct to them? baring in mind they are USB printers.I know it can do so in its current setup as there is a test program that prints fine.

Possible Duplicate: .NET code to send ZPL to Zebra printers
My company has a Eltron 2543 thermal printer. I'm developing an VB.NET application incorporating FedEx web services to print off shipping labels.I can save off the data file without a problem, but I was wondering how I send this data stream to a shared printer on a network. Do I need to include the Eltron 2543 driver in my solution? I've tried haven't work so I guess I'm looking for an expert who has dealt with printers (particularly thermal) to get me moving in the right direction.

I'm trying to take a print on a Continuous Paper through a Thermal Printer ZP 2844 using Crystal Reports 2008 along with Visual Basic .NET 2008. I've set the page size to 3.00 inches as width & 3.00 inches as height. It prints well when the contents are a few on a single page but it puts gap when printing more than single page. There's no page margins set in crystal reports & the printing setup is the same in Crystal Reports as well as in Printer's Setup. Even in Print Preview of Crystal Report, it shows 2 pages to be printed but there's neither any gap at the end of first page & the start of second page. But! Still, a gap is shown when the report is printed. Here's an example how the print is show:
----------
Product Qty Amount
Item1 1 100
Item2 1 100
[Code]....
You can notice the gap between Item3 & Item4 which is due to next page or page break or so. I've noticed that in Crystal Report Viewer for Web, there's an option of SeparatePages = False which let you have a single/continuous page printing but I've not found any such option in Crystal Report Viewer for Desktop.

Can anyone recommend a POS receipt printer that would integrate easily to a .NET WinForms application?Basically what I mean by integrate easily, is that the printer would actually show up as a standard windows printer, because the existing application uses Microsoft reporting services to print receipts, and I do not want to have to redo the entire receipt process via some SDK or API exposed by some proprietary receipt printer.Right now the client is printing on 8.5x11 sheets of paper from a standard printer, and it is just silly to use such big paper for receipts. We thought about getting half sized paper, since the current laser printer tray supports it, but found that non standard paper sizes run much more expensive than standard size paper, and it is not worth it.So I will tweak the report layout to fit a smaller size once I have a printer in place to use, so I am just looking for a recommendation if anyone has worked with any specific POS receipt printers.

I have to develop an application using MS Visual Studio 2005 or above with the following objective:
* The application should allow users to create as many new forms as they want and each form should behave like a MS Visual Studio WinForm. By saying that it should be a container for drag and drop of controls from the toolbox that I will develop....
* Once the user design's each screen to his taste by placing various controls on the form, he should be able to save the form as a screen. Of course I have to provide functionality for each of the controls such as if he drags a button on to the form, he should be able to specify what action it has to perfom when clicked when the application is put into run mode. Quite similar to regular windows form button.
* My application should have two modes: a DESIGN MODE, where user can drag, drop controls and specify what they should do when put into RUN MODE. This is quite similar to MS Visual Studio designer.
* Last but not least is to be able to access the application via the browser with the same look and feel his desktop version.

When I print to the printer, using the PrintDocument, I want it to be able to throw an exception if there is a problem. Currently, if I print to a printer that has a jam, is offline, or doesn't even exist, VB still thinks it printed fine. I never get an error. How can I have the printer report back to my program so that if I print to a printer that doesn't even exist, it wont let me do it? I just tried adding a LPT1 printer to my computer (and there is no local printer). I called it some random printer and installed some random driver. Then used my program to print to that printer and never got an error.

Is it easier to print a VB.net windows form in Visual Studio 2010?
I have been struggling with this - the PrintForm utility in the Powerpack only prints the displayed portion of the current form.
I spent a lot of time creating a process which loops through each control on my form, converts to a bitmap, and drops it on the print document, only to finally discover that the RichTextBox control (which I used extensively) does not include a functional DrawToBitmap method.
I have already researched various ways of managing this, but if VS2010 will do it without jumping through the hoops then I'll spring for it like the sucker I am.
I can do this in Access and VB6, I believe, so I don't think this is an unreasonable expectation.
