Wpf - Binding To Class Item

I have a simple user control, which is essentially just an AutoCompleteBox with some custom logic.
For a specific instance (a collection of Persons), I want it to look like this:
<sdk:AutoCompleteBox Name="myACB" ItemsSource="{Binding People}" FilterMode="StartsWith" MinimumPrefixLength="2" ValueMemberBinding={Binding LastName}>
[Code].....
I want the DisplayMember property to be the property name to display for whatever kind of custom collection (persons, cars, etc) I have bound to the AutoCompleteBox.
I don't think I can modify the datatemplate programmatically. Is there a way I can do this with binding (relative source)?
I want to read a number of items from a file and then associate each of those items with a new button at run-time, so that when the user clicks one of the buttons I can display some information about that item.Can I use a LIST to manage these buttons and items? Can I create a new class and have each list item of that class, such as 'btnID', 'btnText', etc... ?
View 2 RepliesI am trying to get a picture box to update with a new picture when I type in a number in the navigator position item box and hit enter. I have tried various methods, but I can't seem to get a combination that works in this way. Could anyone tell me if what I am trying to achieve is possible, and if so
This is the latest variation I tried (yeah, I know...) :
Private Sub BindingNavigatorPositionItem_KeyUp(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles BindingNavigatorPositionItem.ModifiedChanged
Dim Picture As String
[Code].....
** note that the <fileLocn> is just truncated for the purposes of this post - it does actually have proper code, so that isn't the issue!
I'm doing an ADDNEW on a BINDING SOURCE. After I add the row and endedit and update and all - the current item is not changed to that new row.
It remains at the first row.
Dim drv As DataRowView = DirectCast(vendorfileBS.AddNew(), DataRowView)
drv(0) = vendorfiletype
drv(1) = vendorfilename

I have a map with a MapItemsControl in my WP7 app that contains pushpins bound to items in a collection of custom classes. The pushpins are bound to properties of the item in the collection via a DataTemplate.When an item is added to or removed from the collection, all pins display correctly, with properties as per bindings, but when just an items' properties are modified, the UI does not update. The bindings just seem to get values from the source item upon loading, but I'd like them to keep the UI elements updated when the source collection items' properties are updated.To illustrate, I'll create a similar example:
Heres a custom class:
Public Class Box
Property CurrentColor As Color
Property Location As GeoCoordinate
End Class
[code]....
Whenever I add or remove items from TempBoxes, the pins all render as they should (e.g. if I specify a color in the collection item, the pin shows the color).Tapping on the item triggers the BoxTouched sub, which causes the item's color to change in the collection, but the UI doesn't change (pin color stays the same).To get the UI to update the color, I have to get it to render the pins again, by adding something like this to BoxTouched:
BoxControl.ItemsSource = Nothing
BoxControl.ItemsSource = TempBoxes
I have a problem involving late binding, and I absolutely cannot for the life of me figure out how to fix it. I have spent hours researching the problem to no avail, so I am turning to stackoverflow as a last resort.The problem is pretty much this: I am creating a grocery list application. I have a class named Item which stores the name, price, quantity, and description of an item on the grocery list. I have a module named ListCollection which defines a Collection of Item objects. I have created an Edit form which will automatically display the currently selected ListCollection item properties, but whenever I attempt to fill the text boxes, it tells me that Option Strict disallows late binding. I COULD take the easy route and disable Option Strict, but I'd prefer to figure out what the problem is so I know for future reference.I shall paste pertinent code here. (Late binding error is in EditItem.vb)
[code]...
I have tried declaring a String variable and assigning the Item property to that, and I have also tried grabbing the value directly from the List item (not using the Get function), and neither of these made a difference.
I am trying to understand how the binding navigator buttons are actually working.
I started by creating a table called "Students" in MS Access,
I then "dragged and dropped" that table onto my VB form after importing the data connection.
When I debug, I click the add new (the yellow plus "+") then I type info into my fields (700_Number, First_Name, MI, Last_Name). (700_Number=Primary Key)
After I am finished typing into the four text boxes, I click save. If I end my program then start the debugger again, the record is still there...it goes away only if I change some of the code anywhere in my program.
Also, I am trying to use the record I just put into my database for another part of my program. I use this line of code:
MsgBox(frmAddStudent.DrByrdsTaskListAppDBDataSet.Tables("Students").Rows(0))
This is just to see if what I am trying to put into my database is actually making it there. Every time I run, this message box turns up blank.
I have created a user control in wpf which consists of a textbox and a listview. Now, I want to bind a class object to the list view from the form where I will use this control. So, basically I want to dynamically set the binding for the listview.
View 1 RepliesI have yet to find a "nice" way to do two way databinding in .Net. The one thing I don't like for example in the present asp.net two way databinding is doing the binding in the aspx page is no compile time checking, ie:
<asp:TextBox ID="TitleTextBox"
runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("Title_oops_spelled_wrong") %>'>
I would like to have something like this:
Class Binder
Public Sub BindControl(ctl As Control, objectProperty As ???????)
'// Add ctl and objectProperty to a collection
End Sub
What I don't know is possible is, how to receive the objectProperty in my example; I want to receive a reference (ie: a pointer) to the property, so later, via this reference, I can either read from or write to the property.
Can this somehow be done with delegates perhaps??
UPDATE: Note, I want to add the control reference to a binding collection, this collection would then be used for binding and unbinding.
I am trying to customize the default binding navigator as i inherit it to my own class and add some buttons to it.every thing gos fine and great as i want it, but the problem is when i change any thing in the AddStandardItems() method class dos not reflect to the existing form which has the same class, i have to remove it from the form and put it again to reflect the changes.This is not good solution, i have more than 30 forms using the same Binding navigator class and it is not possible to remove it form all those forms and put it again.[code]

Is there some function that allow us to retrieve a unique ID for a given variable and also get/set based on variable?
Update:At last, I've managed to found the answer. Here's the code:
Dim gh As Runtime.InteropServices.GCHandle = Runtime.InteropServices.GCHandle.Alloc(obj)
Return Runtime.InteropServices.GCHandle.ToIntPtr(gh).ToInt64
I've searched as best as I can, and I can't find an answer to this specific problem that I have... WPF binding seems to be great and all, but I end up banging my head against the wall more often than not.
Okay, I have a singleton class which is ultimately the one that I'm binding to:
Imports System.ComponentModel
Imports System.Collections.ObjectModel
Public Class AmandaSeyfried
[Code].....
If I throw some break points on the Getter and Setters of the CountryTranslation class, I can monitor when they're being changed (via the datagrid, so binding is working), but try as I might I can't figure out how to raise an event based upon that back in the main class to subsequently update the datastore to show the changes.
using a Binding Source to Bind my Collection to a ListBox? I can bind the class to the binding source, but im not sure how to let it know what type of list it is, or how to display the correct item.
I'm trying to get the listbox to display the ItemNames. Here's my class and collection class.
<System.Serializable()> Public Class SurveyItem
Private itemNm As String
Property ItemName() As String

I have a window that contains different functional areas of an account. The details, roles, type, contracts The window's DataContext is set to the 'AccountViewModel'. Inside the AccountViewModel, there are properties one of them being 'Account' which contains the details. I need for the user to be able to update these details. How can I notifiy the properties to call my Update() code when they are changed?
Here is what I have

View 4 RepliesI have the following in my main form
Class MainWindow
Public TableDetails As New List(Of TableDetailsContainer(Of TableXDetails))
Public Sub ArrangeByID()
'''STUCK HERE''''
[code].....
What I basically want to achieve is to sort TableDetails(i) items by their "ID", but I have absolutely no idea how to go about it. Could anyone please give me pointers?Also, I actually want to move the columns within TableDetails(i) around, manually. But I'm not too sure how to do that.
Im creating a registration application where i have a listbox that displays a Course Name column and a Credit Hours column. I also have a textbox that keeps a running total of the credit hours of each course added to the list. When i remove a specific item from the list, i also want to subtract the number of the selected item from the running total in the text box. Essentially i just want to subtract a certain part of a list item from a variable i have.
View 1 Repliesbinding navigators, datagrid view, binding source are all sql database parts.Will these parts still work if you havent got sql on you pc and your not using an database file (.log and .mfd) and your not coding to them, im using MS Jet/Oledb to code to Excel.What not to put on an Employee evaluation: This employee has hit rock bottom and shows signs of starting to dig.

View 1 RepliesI have to create a program where you enter the description, price, and quantity of an item, then click on the Add button. It will then put the description, price, quantity, and total for that line (including tax) in a listbox. The tax is determined by what you put in a text box labeled tax:. When you press Submit Order, it should show a grand total in a text box called Grand Total. It should have a class that is called Items that has a function called GetTotalAmount() that figures out the total including tax. I have started it, but am having a tough time with how to get the subtotals into the text box, then also show the amount including the tax PLUS then do the grand total.
Heres what I have so far:

I have a list box on the form which functions as a copy/paste. When you copy something, it is automatically added to the list box as a "clipboard helper". Here is the problem,however: if the text is more than 1 line, the list box does not show all the text.It ends up looking messy.So getting back to my question, is it possible to make the list box item height for an item depending on the amount of lines that item contains?This is a one line sentence in the list box and should take up one line.This is a multi line sentence in the list box and should take up two lines for item height.

I use objectbinding to display client data in a datagridview. The datagridview also contains a counry-column allowing the user to choose the country of the client.Unfortunately, databinding of comboboxcolumn does not seem to work if an own business class is used. Using a simple collection instead works well.Copy the sample code into a new windows project and the programm runs fine. Then comment and uncomment the two lines with "XXX" and the code will fail. Why and does anybody know how to make the sample code work by using the business object class(variable named "newClientListVariable" in the sample)? [code]
View 3 RepliesI started programming in VBA, then graduated to VB6, and I am now using VB.NET 2008 Express.I have read, in the various posts, that I should keep Option Explicit and Option Strict both on, in order that I use correct VB.NET code and not VB6.I am trying to do that but am totally confused with the results of one of my programmes that was running perfectly with Option Strict off, but now advises:Option Strict On disallows late binding. To me it appears that I am using early binding, but to be honest I am not clear on the binding situation. I have checked through a number of google items, and a number of this Forum's items without seeing the light.[code]
