Subtract A Listbox Item From A Class Level Variable?
Mar 5, 2012
Im creating a registration application where i have a listbox that displays a Course Name column and a Credit Hours column. I also have a textbox that keeps a running total of the credit hours of each course added to the list. When i remove a specific item from the list, i also want to subtract the number of the selected item from the running total in the text box. Essentially i just want to subtract a certain part of a list item from a variable i have.
I have procedure (Import) that calls a for a new instance of frmImportData. I also have a class name clsBatch that has a data table property called prpParametersTable. For some reason, I get an error (indicated below with ERROR>>>) when trying to assign prpParameterTable to cv_dtImport2. The error states "Object reference not set to an instance of an object.". Why does this error not happen when I assign dtBP to cv_dtImport1? Both cv_dtImport1 and cv_dtImport2 are equal to Nothing and in my Import procedure dtBP = prpParametersTable.
Public Sub Import(ByVal clsB As clsBatch) Try Me.cv_clsB = clsB
I need a static variable to get a ListItemCollection from a List control (I can do this, but if I don't set it as Shared It's not preserving the values as it should). The thing is that this class is a SharePoint webpart, so I most probably will be using the webpart more than once, and I need this variable to be unique to each webpart, which shared doesn't accomplish.I tried everything you can imagine. I placed a Static variable within a Sub (shared and not shared), I tried it with Properties (also Shared and not shared)...
If you run this code you will see that the 500 PictureBoxes that are added ( this is easier to show than adding pixels as a pixel is only a single point ) fall mainly on the diagonal. With regard the RANDOM class, why should this be like this when the bounds of the instances are? >>
p.Location = New Point(x.Next(0, Me.Width + 1 ), y.Next(0, Me.Height + 1 )) as in this code.>>
In my application I have a listbox and SelectionMode should be MultiSimple because users need to see which items they selected. In another tab we have another listbox this one should show all the selection users had done in first tab. Private Sub
I am creating a script programatically. However I cannot access the dataset from the modeule. See "Sample" below. ('ds' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level.)
i'm sort of a n00b to VB and was wondering how to make a variable available across multiple Subs. It's just a test app to get familiar with VB.My Code:[code] "Sentences" is not declared. It may be in accessable due to it's protection level."
Today I decided to come up with a program that would be useful for me in VB.net (I have never coded in VB.net before). All is going fine up till this point but I have hit a snag with the error mentioned above. The problem is with the windowssevenexistsonsource boolean under the get get of profiles comment. I will also take any code criticism well as I would like to get out of bad practices before I start! (the sub does end but I have not included that code)
Code:
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click 'Check that the entries required are not empty If String.IsNullOrEmpty(sourceipaddress.Text) Or String.IsNullOrEmpty(destinationipaddress.Text) Then
I just need to know where my code is jacked -up at, I get an error when I created the module level variable ( class statement must end with a matching end class) problem is that every time I add an end class the next procedure is wrong with the same error, so what can I do to resolve this and why is this error coming up. Ultimate goal of this program is to add the invoice totals to the next element in the array each time the user clicks calculate, which displays in a message when the user clicks the exit button, also this code will sort the invoice totals in the array.
Public Class frmInvoiceTotal Dim SumInvoice(4) As Decimal 'Delareation of two module- level variables Dim I As Integer = 0' the index I can use to work with this array Private Sub btnCalculate_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, _ ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnCalculate.Click [Code] .....
How someone would select an item from a list box and click a button and have that item go into another listbox with it's price? I seem to be stuck on this part.
Here's my code:
I want to select the first option from the first listbox and I want to put it into another listbox along with the price of that item on the same line in the listbox. I can't seem to figure out how to that.
Public Class Form1 Const dcmPRICE_STRESS As Decimal = CDec(595.0) Const dcmPRICE_TIME_MANAGMENT As Decimal = 695
Currently, I've encountered a problem where I do not how I can store the variable of my battery level in a text file. I tried .xml and .txt file and it returns me text which can't be read. The code related:
vb.net [code]Dim psBattery As PowerStatus = SystemInformation.PowerStatus Dim perFull As Single = psBattery.BatteryLifePercent
[code]....
The place where I do not know what to insert is the "Insert Battery Percentage Here" part so I guess that's the problem. For your info, if you were to use a MsgBox to display, the code which displays that would be <MsgBox("Total battery power remaining: " & perFull * 100 & "%")>
I have a backgroundworker that needs to contact a webservice. But when I run the background worker it just hangs forever at the line where I call a method of the webservice. I suspect this is because the webservice is defined at class level.
I want the module to execute first before anything else, and so I call module.main() from the MyApplication startup event. At about the point that program execution gets to the beginning of module-level declarations in the module, it also starts running though the class-level declarations in the thread classes, but long before the threads are declared or the threads are started in the module code. I can't figure out why it happens! Is there some way of supressing that until later (i.e when those classes are actually instantiated)?
removing Listbox item from checked Listview item. The code I tried just errors out.
Private Sub ListView1_ItemCheck(sender As Object, e As System.Windows.Forms.ItemCheckEventArgs) Handles ListView1.ItemCheck If (e.CurrentValue = CheckState.Unchecked) Then ListBox1.Items.Add(Me.ListView1.Items(e.Index).Text) ElseIf (e.CurrentValue = CheckState.Checked) Then
I've got a form with a listbox on it.In a second form I inherit the complete first form. But when I try to use that listbox in the second form with e.g.Index = LstWoodshop.FindString (Order(0))(where LstWoodshop is that inherited Listbox) I get the error message:'LstWood shop' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level. What or where can I change this setting so that this listbox on form 1 is also available/accessible on form 2?
Trying to fill listboxes from a .txt file, but I only get 1 line. How do I loop the stream reader until the Field(0) changes. My txt file looks like this: [code] The number goes into a combobox, the name into a label, and the rest into listboxes, so I I need all the Gross Pay for person 100 in a list box.I have a module that reads the file into an array PayRolls (), And so far this is my code for the combobox. [code]
Is it possible to select an item in one listbox and then display the data of another listbox with the same indexed position? I am planning a project and this is something I would like to attempt but I haven't figured out how to do it.[code..]
I tried doing the above code but instead of displaying the listbox text the message box just returned false.
problem that i am facing is i want to add array of object as a single item in listbox. in vb6 i was using this Label1.Caption = Label1.Caption & Mid$ (strInput, intI, 1) & " " List1.AddItem (Label1.Caption) i was using label. caption to store object but not work in vs2008 because label.text only take text and left other values
I have a class which has various methods that I need to make public to only 1 other class. Is this possible? I don't want to make them public for everybody, just that 1 class.
I have 2 listboxes on my form.Listbox 1 - populated with "available" field namesListbox 2 - populated with "selected" field names. There cannot be the same field name in both listboxes - it's either one of the other. The logic I was going to apply was to populate Listbox 1 with every field name ... and then as I populated Listbox with the field names which the user has already selected, remove the corresponding item from Listbox 1.
I'm working with .NET 3.5 and Nunit 2.5.10. I'm attempting to write some tests to validate our role-based security enforcement through the PrincipalPermissionAttribute at a class-level. The test appears to succeed (it gets a green checkmark) and the Assert.Throws call properly catches the exception, and all my other assertions about the exception pass. However, once TearDown is complete after a test has run, the exception is re-thrown by NUnit. So even though the test "passed", every one of the tests shows that an exception was unhandled exception was thrown 'while executing' the test run.
I'm guessing I'm doing something wrong, but can't figure it out. My test is:
Public Sub New_TheForm_NoRoles_DeniesAccess() ' attempt to create a new instance of the form, but it should throw an exception with an inner SecurityException Dim ex As TypeInitializationException = Assert.Throws(Of
[Code]....
Basically, Initialize is normally called in the application with Nothing so that we use the Windows Principal. During unit testing, we instead initialize it with a GenericPrincipal that has no roles, so that we can test that a SecurityException is thrown.
The tests are passing, but NUnit just seems to be re-throwing the exception post-Teardown.
I want to read a number of items from a file and then associate each of those items with a new button at run-time, so that when the user clicks one of the buttons I can display some information about that item. Can I use a LIST to manage these buttons and items? Can I create a new class and have each list item of that class, such as 'btnID', 'btnText', etc... ?
Create a class named Service. Inside the Service class, declare a class variable named Started. The datatype of this variable is Boolean.Public Class Service Dim started as Boolean End Class Create a class named Server. Inside the Server class, declare a dynamic array that can contain elements of the type Service.(Note: For convenience, both the array and the variable Started can be accessible from a client program that creates an instance of Server and Service respectively)
Create a constructor for the Service class. When the constructor is executed, it will set the value of the class variable Started to True. Create two new classes: WebServer and DatabaseEngine. Both of these classes inherit from the class Service. Inside the Service class, declare a Sub procedure (method) named Terminate. This method should display the following text Service stopping in a message box when executed. This method can be overridden in classes that inherit from Service class.
Inside both the WebServer and DatabaseEngine class, override the method Terminate inherited from their base class Service. Both methods should first call the base class Terminate method. The messages Web server stopping and Database engine stopping should also be displayed in a message box when the Terminate method for the WebServer and DatabaseEngine are called respectively. These messages should only be displayed if the Started variable inherited from their base class is not equal to False.
Inside the Server class, declare a method named Shutdown. This method does not return any value. When executed, it will call the Terminate method for each of the Service instances (if any) in the arrServices array. You should call the Terminate method within a For Each loop that loops through the elements of the arrServices array.
In the Sub Main method, create an instance of the class Server. Set the size of the arrServices array in your Server instance to contain 2 elements. Create first a WebServer instance and then a DatabaseEngine instance into this array. Call the Shutdown method from your Server instance.
I want to created a nested class that can only be visible to and instantiated from the parent class. But I also want to be able to use an instance of the nested class through a public variable of the parent class.I tried making the nested class private, or making the nested class' constructor private, but it won't compile. Is it possible to do this in .NET?
Just want to ask this. I have a jQuery that move listbox item to another listbox. An its working fine the item was remove. Sample: I remove item in listbox A and it was added to listbox B. But here is now the problem, when I tried to check each item in listbox A, I noticed that all items that was removed was still there. But i can see in my eyes that it was removed. but when I tried to run a code to check each items - all item that was removed was still there.
