After Inheritance Of Form A Listbox Is Not Accessible Due To May Be Its Protection Level

Apr 19, 2012

I've got a form with a listbox on it.In a second form I inherit the complete first form. But when I try to use that listbox in the second form with e.g.Index = LstWoodshop.FindString (Order(0))(where LstWoodshop is that inherited Listbox) I get the error message:'LstWood shop' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level.What or where can I change this setting so that this listbox on form 1 is also available/accessible on form 2?

Printing Because Of Form1 Protection Level?

Mar 5, 2011

I am trying to add a code for a print button (the same code I have used successfully on another project) but this time it's not working. I typed:

PrintForm1.PrintAction = Printing.PrintAction.PrintToPreview
PrintForm1.Print()

BUT... It says "'PrintForm1' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to it's protection level." I didn't change the name of Form1 or anything so I am really confused why my last project worked and this one doesn't.

I am unable to call public routines in a public class in AppCode.To debug, I built a new blank website project with a public class Class1 in AppCode and a public function Foo returning a string "Hello World".A sub CallFoo calls Foo without error if CallFoo is in Class1. If CallFoo is moved to a new class Class2 I get the above error.I have rebuilt this test site from scratch targeting Framework 3.5 and 4 with the same error. Oddly, I have found I am able to reference public constants without error.

Recently i upgraded my .NET framework from 1.1 to 2.0 (visual studio 2003 to visual studio 2010) and after that I always faced some problem during development while debugging. Somebody facing this before? I can't see what is the data inside some object like following examples (right click and quick watch):

'objCircle' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level.

The project currently contains references to more than one version of CDMObjects, a direct reference to version 1.0.4394.17018 and an indirect reference (through 'ProcessFlow.frmBPSOD.m_CopyCircle') to version 1.0.4455.20763. Change the direct reference to use version 1.0.4455.20763 (or higher) of CDMObjects.

Error - Variable Is Not Declared, It May Be Inaccessible Due To Its Protection Level

VS 2005 Implement Document Level Password Protection?

May 24, 2012

I am trying to figure out a way to implement password protection on documents that a program I am working on creates. They should remain with the document regardless of where it is copied to or sent.Here is a rough sequence of events:

1. Application Opens (no document loaded).

2. User opens document with extension registered to application.(could also be # 1 if they clicked on the document directly)

3. Application Security checks document for security and prompts if necessary.

4. If prompted, user enters password.

5. Application checks password.

6. If passed, document opens, otherwise user is notified of failure.

.net - Multi-level Inheritance With Implements On Properties?

Jun 18, 2010

Let's say I have 2 interfaces defined like so:

public interface ISkuItem
{
public string SKU { get; set; }
}

[Code]....

VB.NET explicitly requires you to add Implements IInterfaceName.PropertyName after each property that gets implemented whereas C# simply uses regions to indicate which properties and methods belong to the interface.

Interestingly in VB.NET, on the SKU property, I can specify either Implements ISkuItem.SKU or Implements ICartItem.SKU. Although the template built by VS defaults to ISkuItem, I can also specify ICartItem if I want. Oddly, because C# only uses regions to block out inherited properties, it seems that I can't explicitly specify the implementing interface of SKU in C# like I can in VB.NET.

My question is: Is there any importance behind being able to specify one interface or another to implement properites in VB.NET, and if so, is there a way to mimic this functionality in C#? Furthermore, what is the effect of specifying one interface over another when implementing properites?

C# - Multi-level Interface Inheritance With .NET And COM Interop

Jun 18, 2010

This question is a follow-up to my last question with a reference to COM Interop. Let's say I have the following 2 interfaces and implementing classes:

[Code]...

Interfaces are important in COM interop for exposing properties and methods to IntelliSense in the VB6 IDE (per this article). However, because ICartItem is inherited from ISkuItem, SKU is not explicitly defined in ICartItem and thus is not visible in IntelliSense in VB6 and even throws a compiler error when trying to write to objCartItem.SKU.

I've tried using Shadows and Overloads on the SKU property in ISkuItem, but then the compiler wants me to explicitly implement SKU for both ISkuItem and ICartItem within the CartItem class. I don't think that's what I want. Is there a way (in either VB.NET or C#) to explicitly declare the SKU property in ICartItem without having to declare SKU twice in the CartItem class?

Listbox, Objects, Inheritance And Polymorphism

Jan 31, 2012

I wasn't quite sure how to label this but that should cover it all. I am using Linq to Sql classes to query a SQL Server table. That part is working fine. I'd like to add the records to a listbox and not just text. I can do this and it works. To get it to display something meaningful in the listbox, I have to override the ToString() function.

So, I've taken the base class tblVendor and created a new sub class tblVendorListObject that inherits tblVendor and overrides ToString to return Me.vendorName. I then use a foreach loop to iterate through the records returned by the query. Next, I create a new instance of tblVendorListObject and attempt to assign the current item in the foreach loop to it.

Create An IMAGELIST In A Main Form And Add To It Then Have It Accessible Within A Child Form?

Mar 22, 2011

I want to create an IMAGELIST in a main form and add to it then have it accessible within a child form. I found several MS examples on database shared access but this is NOT the concept I am after. Straight forward:

Child_Form.<function_to_execute_in_child_form>(The_Passed_Imagelist)

So, within the child form it want to do whatever I like to the IMAGELIST! I have tried passing the object by reference and anything I could think of.

Object Passed ByRef To Form, But Not Accessible Throughout Form Class

Feb 18, 2010

Hi

I've got a pretty general question about the best practice in passing an object reference to a Form in VB.NET. My form is a dialog and I've created an overload ShowDialog method, where I pass an Object into it ByRef.

The trouble is, I want to be able to refer to that Object throughout my dialog Class and not just in the ShowDialog method. For instance, some of my Events for controls on the form, need to reference that object.

I know I could create a local Private variable in the Class and assign it to the passed value, and then use that value. However I'm thinking this isn't very efficient because it would (I believe) create a new copy of the Object (which is a complex, large class in itself).
