I want to write a program that can recognize music notes.I think i should write something that could understand notes! we give the notes to the program and then we start to play that song,if we made a mistake,the program warns us. I want to know witch programming language is good for this kind of programs and what should i study for starting?! I asked from my university professor and he told me maybe it is not really needs an Artificial intelligence like programs that convert speech to text, noise frequency is helps you to recognize notes easily!
I've been trying make a mdi notepad that can start up new instances of a "note" which is unique from the other notes as in you can save/change/cut/ copy/ paste in the individual notes without changing the properties of the other notes..something like a tabbed notepad but instead of tab control i have a mdi container. but i can't make it work. [code] problem with it is that whatever you cut/copy/paste in one mdi container richtextbox, it automatically cuts/copies/pastes in the other richtextbox controls in the other containers..

I'm trying to make a program with a dashboard that has sticky notes on it. By sticky notes, I'm just talking about 5 text box's that save the text to file.txt. Nothing fancy. Anyways here is the code I have:

I am stuck on what 'should' be a fairly simple thing to solve, however after a good search i haven't got very far.
Basically i am pulling data from a database which might have multiple lines of data, however for one particular task i only want to grab the first line of text (as a sort of preview).[code]...
So I wrote a program, which goes thru the authentication of a website, using a 'webbrowser' element within the program, however, when I want to open a page in an other browser e.g.: Firefox after I went thru with the Auth. in the application , it seems as there have been no authentication at all.
Do I need to set something with the cookies? Or how would firefox know that I am already logged on on another browser? all is in Visual Basic 2008.
As part of my current project for making student's lives easier by making an All-In-One application with many common programs carbon-copied inside it, I have a slight problem with sticky notes.
I am trying to recreate Sticky Notes as much as possible from the Windows 7 Sticky Notes Application. My problem is, I put a richtextbox on the sticky notes panel and wanted to either add a background image, or a transparent backcolor (my Panel that the textbox is in has the background image of the themed sticky notes). I've been trying to figure out a simple keypress handling event.I have the code working fine after hunting for a couple of days on the net but have a problem getting rid of the obnoxious bong that comes along with hitting the ENTER key.I've attempted some solutions on the web about changing the KeyAscii to 0 but under that method I cannot even get the program to recognize the key is even being pressed.The code I have so far is as follows and I'm just trying to get rid of the audible bong.
i am using visual basic 2008 express. i want to know how i can get my application to play a song when a button is clicked. i do not want the user to be able to select the song and i need to be able to move the program between computers. I need the user to be able to play and pause then song and i preferably want to use windows media player. i am having trouble adding a file to the windows media player tool and have been searching for an answer but have only found how to let the user select the file from the hard drive.
Hey guys, I'm a new guy in VB.NET. I am proposing my final year project a title called music studio. My version of music studio is like real music video where we can play many sound at any time. For example, the application that I want to build can create many button and also add an audio along with it. And then, when we hit the 1st button, it play 1st audio. while 1st audio play, we also can hit 2nd button and 2nd audio is playing. for example, 1st audio is sound of man walking, and then 2nd audio is the sound of glass break. lastly 3rd sound sound of police siren play. Is it cool? so, my question is, is it possible the I can build an application by using VB.NET?
Basically, I want to trigger music to play in its natural environment (itunes, WMP, Zune, whatever) from a console app, but I can only find ways of playing .wav files, which most of the files i want to play are not.
How do you put backround music in your program. I've seen some tutorials but they only work if they can find the music file. How do I put it into my exe file afterwards.

i have to write a program for my VB class that consists of a resistance checker program. I've searched like a madman to help me through this and I have found nothing >. The program consists of 2 combo boxes, the first one is the nominal resistance drop down list of the numbers :100, 150, 220, 330, 470, 680, 820 and 1000. The second list is of the tolerance numbers; +/- 0.4%, +/-0.6% and +/-0.8%. Now what i want to do is select a number from the first combo box and select the tolerance level of the second combo box and i input the resistor of said value into the text box. when i click the check resistor button it should display a message saying if the resistor is in or out of tolerance. For now I have the form all laid out and the values inputted into both combo boxes and i can go to run the program i am able to select said values. Now my problem is trying to get the right code so that i can check the resistors value.
Is it possible to pause the music then if I resume the music it will just continue the flow? I mean if I pause the background music in 33 seconds and the music has 50 seconds and I resume it will just continue playing in 33,34,35 etc.. seconds?

I have my application sending out emails when the user triggers certain events. The problem is that the email logs into the local Lotus database stored on the person's computer so the emails appear to be coming from different individuals.
Is there a way to alter the from field? I'd like to have everything coming from MyProgram for example, even if that user doesn't exist in the Lotus directory.[code]...
