Well I'm start making a server and client program of chat and send image desktop. I have some questions i would like to make. 1 What is the best way to make a connection between machines?? Sockets??? 2 How can i send the image to other computer? With buffer stream?
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to develop a windows application where i can get connected to remote server and look for process state going in remote server.We have many remote servers where automatic installation of software going on. We have an xml file(installstatus.xml) where it tells us at what stage the installation is (Example : Inprogress , Completed, Failed.)
So our aim is to develop a windows application where i can get connected to that servers and look for their installation status(may be we can use installstatus.xml to look for installation status). Every time i connect to a server, the server information should get stored in XML file(i want to create a xml file where all the servers list i connect to should get stored)
The UI at left side should will have list of servers i can connect to. When i get connected to server, at right side of UI, i want to display the status of installation (In progress, failed , completed).
I know how to program an application to load the desktop image into the picturebox on a timer. Thats really easy.
But how would I load an image from another IP Address, i.e. another remote machine, into the picturebox on this application.[cod]e...

I have set up a host that stores all the user details and when the user connects to the host, the specific user details will be sent to the client. One of the details include an avatar image. Since the example is sending data via text, how do I send an image from the host to the client and vise versa?

I'm building a "dashboard" digital signage WPF program that will display various things on a large monitor mounted high up in the ceiling of my office.What I need to be able to do is control certain aspects of this program from my desktop. For example, there will be a TV window in the application with signal being provided by a TV tuner on the mini-computer connected to the monitor in the ceiling. What I want to be able to do is make a remote control to be able to change the channel etc. I'm confused at what technology to use. I've read about remoting, WCF, and simple TCPclient classes but I'm confused at which one would be better. I'm thinking it may be better to use WCF because what I think I need to do is make a function that will change the channel and accept channel numbers, etc from the remote control program. Am I on the right path?

i have been working on a chat program Server side and client side i have most of the features i was asked to put in but then once i got most of the bugs out i noticed something the server admin could send whispers and alerts to single users but then when you try do do it on the client side it wont work so i looked through it all and found my issue the user list on the client is only a list of the names in server hash table so i was wondering how do i send the hashtable and all of its data E.G. user connection information to the client so that it can send commands to individual users like the server side can

i tried to send the hashtable over the same method used to send the user names to the client but it cannot convert the hashtable to a string so that wont work so my question is How do i send the hash table to the user from the server then display the username on the client ??

View 3 RepliesI have a large class that I built to act as a TCP server for one of my silverlight applications. When a user connects it stores the tcp client into a table for later communication. The problem is that when I send data, with more than one client connected, it loops through both open TCP Clients but some how sends the data twice to the same client.... the other tcp client never receives his data. This isn't a logic issue as I can step through the code and see that it is clearly taking each individual TCP client out of the table and sending it the data. They all use the same port... could that be the issue? And if so how do I make it so that it can connect on one port then transfer to another? I have tried using different computers for connecting but still the most recently connected client receives all of the packets of data.
