Programmatically Setting Custom Paper Size For Crystal Report?

Nov 5, 2008

I have created custom paper Size "XPaperSize 15 x 12" in Printers - File - Sever Properties. In VB .net 2005 I am trying to set custom Paper Size for Crystal Report. My problem is when I run report from Vb .net, Crystal report viewer showing correct preview for custom paper size but when I give print command it's print default printer paper size e.g. Letter size.

Here's the code I'm using to print:
Dim ObjCrReport as new ReportDocument
ObjCrReport.SetDataSource(ObjPrintDataSet.Tables("PrintData"))
SetReportPageSize("XPaperSize 15 x 12", 1) ' call Procedure for setting Custom Paper Size
End Sub
[Code] .....

If I used "myAppPrintOptions.PaperSize = PaperSize.PaperLegal" then print preview & Printing coming correct. Why it's printing Letter Size where Crystal preview showing custom paper size preview? & How to set Crystal Report Printer Paper Size?

Save An Excel File Programmatically?

Oct 9, 2008

I'm trying to import data from an Excel file into SQL server. However, the Excel file's format is not recognized by SQL Server. In fact, when I open it and try to save it, I get the following message:<filename> cannot be saved in the current format. To save your changes, click OK, then save it as the latest format. When I do that manually, it puts it in a usable format. However, the automated process I'm trying to build can't save it without intervention. When the VB in my SSIS process gets to it it brings up a save window, and I have to click the "Save" button and then the "Yes" button to replace the existing file. I'd strongly prefer to have this automated. I've have tried using the SendKeys.Send("{ENTER}") code, but it brings up this message:SendKeys cannot run inside this application because the application is not handling Windows messages. Either change the application to handle messages, or use the SendKeys.SendWait method.I've tried SendWait, but it just seems to hang. I don't know how to change the application to handle error messages. I have also tried saving the Excel file as a new file with my VB code. However, as a new xls, xlsx, and csv file it still wasn't recognized by the import. I've only had success when manually saving it. In the SaveAs code I have been using, I'm only using the FileName parameter. I can't get any FileFormats to work or be recognized. Note, though, I'm opening the app and worksheet as Object variables. I can't add the Excel component in the Add Refrence area because only the .NET tab is there. I don't have a COM tab. I haven't asked if/how to get access to it, though.

Wpf - Programmatically Draw And Show / Copy / Save An Image?

show the image in my UI
copy it to the clipboard
save it as a .BMP-File.

It should also be possible to add Paint-like editing features later. What is a good approach? System.Drawing.Bitmap works internally, but the only way I could show it is to convert it to an ImageSource and show it inside an Image control. Is there any better way?

How To Save A Certain Report In SAP Using VB

I am new to VB but I want to use it to download reports from SAP automatically. I managed to get connected to SAP, enter the necessary transaction code, but I just can not get the 'sendkey' to work in SAP. I want to get to the "Save file as..." but there is no shortcut key defined to get to it, so I planned to go to the menu, press Alt +L, (List)then E (export) and finally L (local file...) but it seems that SAP will not recognise the letters, all I could manage is to press Alt, ie open the menu bar, but then I just can not navigate any further. ither.

What I tried:
SendKeys "%L", 1000
SendKeys "%LSF"

Run SQL Report And Save To PDF?

Apr 4, 2012

I would like to create a VB.net windows application using VS 2010 that does something very basic. I want to create a program that runs a report from SQL Reporting Services and save that report to a PDF file. We are using Custom Security on our SQL 2008 machineso I know I need to use a proxy for GetWebRequest and GetWebResponse. I also know that cookie management is also necessary. After many days of trying to get it to work as a windows app and failing I tried an ASP.net app and it works. For what I can gatherthe windows app does not have HTTPContext and therefore will not work. I am not sure what I can do or if this will work in a windows app. Does anyone have any suggestions?

VS 2008 Save File And Encrypt Or Have Unique Save Name?

Mar 19, 2009

My question is simple (the answer may not be...), What I am looking for is a way to save a file as an encrypted file (so know one can open it except in visual basic or a way to save it with a unique ending that only visual basic will recognize. I will also need to know of a way to open or load the file to.

This is going to be used in a game I am working on (and yes...I know visual basic isn't really meant for games, but it is coming together pretty well). I was originally going to have it save as a text file, but then everyone could open, read it and even change there stats. That is what this file will contain, the stats for their character, and when they load it, it will place the values into the correct spot.

I am a partial beginner or intermediate coder, I can understand code, I just don't know all there is, like saving and loading, and this is probably a little harder.

DB/Reporting :: VBE 2008 Programmatically Use Database?

Nov 5, 2008

I'm using VBE 2008, with .NET 3.5 SP1, and I am trying to programmatically manage a database. Here are the steps I used so far:

1. Project >> Add New >> Local Database >> Cancel Button.
2. Added a table (Files) with three fields (File Path, File Name, and File Type).
3. Went into Data Sources, did Add New Data Source and followed the wizard to add it as a dataset.

I'm not entirely sure where to go from here. I'd like to be able to use queries on this thing, but I don't want to have to use SQL to add to it and such. I've made a little headway in the code, but it's really frustrating because VBA Access was SOOOO much easier to do this kind of thing in. This is what I have for code:

VS 2008 : Programmatically Creating Controls?

Sep 24, 2009

I have a panel that is a set size and has its Autoscroll property set to True.I am parsing text files and then adding them to the panel. I'm extracting specific lines and then adding them to labels and text boxes that are in the panel. When my app runs, it can parse anywhere from 0-10 files at a time.If there are no files to parse, I don't want any controls in the panel. I'll be creating the controls based on how many text files I have. For each text file, I'll have 3 controls.

I'll count the text files before I parse them, and insert the controls into the panel. The problem is that I don't know how to place the controls based on the location of the panel/form. I know the panel will always have a permanent spot, but I won't know if the location parameters of the panel have changed because I won't know how many controls there will be before the app parses the files.

However, I will know the size of the controls that I'm inserting. So, with all of that, is there a way to insert the controls inside of the panel, and then based on that information, insert the others?

VS 2008 Compiling Code Programmatically

May 3, 2012

I wanted to provide programming support for an application I made. So I used System.CodeDom compiler and it allows me to execute vb.net code on the fly.The way it works is :

- I call the engine and pass references and code that it needs to run
- The code is able to access public subs
- results are obtained after processing completes.

[code]I want that if the code is being executed by user on seperate threads at the same time then their values should be independant. Right now this is not possible as module has been used and not classes. What I want is -> create object of class RunCode, it runs user code and returns. Thus the age variable in class runcode is not tampered with if at the same time another code is executed. But for that module module1 has to be a class also and how can user call Age sub if its a class. I mean user should be able to call all subs/functions by name and it should work like it was working right now.
