C# - Can A DataGrid Column Be Two-way Bound To A Dictionary Item
Mar 14, 2012I am working on a bound DataGrid that displays data from a database. I'm using Silverlight 5 if that helps. Currently all the data is stored in a Dictionary within the my entity object. Using the Property[Key] syntax for the binding path binds properly for display purposes. But the column acts like it is readonly when trying to change a column value in runtime.

My only thought right now is to store the column values in ordered lists and display them using an index rather than key. But I would really like to know why the key isn't working.

Feb 12, 2011I'm having some difficulty with a sorted & grouped listbox in WPF vb.net 3.5 that has an items source bound to an ObservableCollection.
What I want to be able to do is to retrieve a piece of data from the ObservableCollection items source depending on what item in the listbox the user has selected.I've almost got it working but because the listbox is sorted it does not match the index of the items source.

As I previously mentioned, because the lstBox is sorted and also grouped the index's don't match up.Does anyone know how I can get the correct information I want from the List Source depending on the selected item in the list box?

May 7, 2006I have a datatable with 10 records linked to a datagridview. When I initially load the datagridview, row 0 in the datagridview = row 0 in the datatable - based purely on the order they load, and the datatable's default sort order. I then filter my datagridview and am left with 5 records. Is there a way of determining programatically, the actual datatable row number of a row displayed in a datagridview, considering that row 0 in the datagridview is now not necessarily row 0 in the datatable?

Feb 13, 2012It seems that on clicking datagridview column header, the column will be automatically sorted based on the column type. I have a column showing some numbers. If column type is string, it sorts "1","20","3" into "1","20","3". If column type is double, it sorts into "1","3","20" which is the result that I want. However, there might be some erros in the numbers and error messages(text) will show in the cell instead of numbers. So I cannot set the column type as double. I want to ignore these error messages and sort all the numbers. How can I do this?
Also, I need to add some background colors to different rows in datagridview. So in the column header click event, I call the bkgColor Sub to achieve this. My question is that how can I override the sorting method in this event?

Determine If An Item Is Selected In A Listview Box?
Mar 30, 2011Using VB.net 2010 i am trying to figure out if an item was selected or not. Reason being is that if the user clicks on an item and pushes a button then everything works just fine. However, if the user selects an item and then clicks on a blank spot on the bottom of the listview and then clicks the button then it crashes.

Determine Selected Item From Context Menu?
Feb 12, 2012I want to add a context menu to a datagrid in VB2008 and I need to find out which menu item the user selected.
I don't want to use the ContextMenuStrip that's available in the toolbox since it doesn't allow for dynamic placement depending on what row is active in the grid (I haven't found a Top and Left property in the ContextMenuStrip)
Here's what I've got so far, I'm aware of the fact that the MsgBox uses a non-existing property, it is meant to show my intention.
Given the available properties in the ContextMenu object, I would think that there would be something like a SelectedItemCaption property but a search of the object tree yields no results.
