Each time a ticket is sold i put the total price in a textbox, each time a ticket is sold for the same concert it increases by adding its self to the total price. i have to modify an asp.net application. The app consists of an huge gridview with lots of javascript, controls and cell modification (color cell etc.) in it. Now i have to modify the gridview to add some more colums. Lot of code is based on identifying a cell based on its index e.g. row.Cells(1). Is there way to optimize this behaivor? I dont like the thought to add a colum in the middel and then increment all indeces to match the new positions.

Now this is a very basic concept, but the problem is when the last row value is returned, i get an indexing error "Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index" i tried to count-1, but that doesnt cover everything. And even easier, would be to set no duplicate allowed in the datatable itself. but i want to fill those particualr rows with color.
I'm having some difficulty with a sorted & grouped listbox in WPF vb.net 3.5 that has an items source bound to an ObservableCollection.
What I want to be able to do is to retrieve a piece of data from the ObservableCollection items source depending on what item in the listbox the user has selected.I've almost got it working but because the listbox is sorted it does not match the index of the items source.

As I previously mentioned, because the lstBox is sorted and also grouped the index's don't match up.Does anyone know how I can get the correct information I want from the List Source depending on the selected item in the list box?

Depending on the "type" of my record, I would have different cells in the column "value" like a combobox or a simple textfield. and I don't really see how to do that programmatically... I have a DataGridView binded to a DataSet that I created using the Visual Studio Data Source Configuration Wizard. Everything works good except for one problem.I have two columns, Modified_By and Date_Modified that should be inserted or updated as the user and the current date, respectively. So every row in the DataGridView should have the same value for these two columns.So far, I have thought of two ways to get this working, but neither one seems very clean. The first idea is to make a custom Fill method that takes as parameters the user and the current date and then add them as extra columns in the select method. For example

I have a gridview loaded with two columns-one column(Name)is with some Text,another(Price) is empty.
I have got a TextBox with the data of Name and Price.
Now,I would like to loop through the Textbox,and see if the Data/symbols of the Column(Name) of GridView Control matches with the Data in Textbox.
If the Names of the GridVies First Columns data matches with the names of the Textbox,then the Price data should be fetched in the Second Column(Price) of GridView.[code]...
The problem is my first' row cells values are their owner's column header text.

The code below updates all cells in a DataGridView column to a value from a textbox. This code works in that all cells in the desired column are updated on screen. The DGC is bound to a dataset. The problem is that when I call the dataset .Update method, sometimes the first row (row 0) does not get updated. I have run SQL profiler and can see that no SQL update command is submitted for the first row. The first row only gets skipped the first time the update is run after launching the app. Subsequent updates run for all rows, until the app is re-launched.
I have verified the row state is Unchanged with: Msgbox(DataGridView1.Rows(r).State.ToString).
The 2 commented lines below are other things I have tried that still cause the first row to be skipped.

I have a DataGridView with SelectionMode = "CellSelect". I do this because I want the user to be able to click the Column Header and drag the column to a different DisplayIndex. They move the column by clicking and holding down the left mouse button, then moving the column. I also want the user to be able to click the column header and all the cells in the column would be selected. But if I change the SelectionMode property to "FullColumnSelect" or "ColumnHeaderSelect" the user can no longer move the column.In the code below, I can select all the cells in the DataGridView just fine, but I can't select all cells in a particular Column or Row. I am using VB.net 2005 and would like a sample that work for it. I have a loop that goes thru the DataGridView and changes the row color based on a column/cell value from the binded DataTable (shown below). I'd like to add to the loop (where the comment is) and also hide the button for this cell and let the "In Process" show in the cell instead.

View 1 RepliesI have a DataSet that contains 1 DataTable, and the DataTable contains only 1 row of data. I want to loop through all columns in that row and say:
Column name = column value
so for example if the column name is FAVORITE_FOOD and the value is pizza, I should display FAVORITE_FOOD = pizza I can get the column name from column.ColumnName and the value from Rows(0).Item(0), but for the life of me I can't put it all together in a simple loop.

I have a databound listbox from a sql server table that populates fine. I'm trying to retrieve the display value of a listbox item without selecting the item. My goal is to compare items in listbox1 with items in listbox2 and if item is in listbox1 matches an item I want to load into Listbox2, then I do not add the item to Listbox2. Listbox 2 is not databound but contents I'm loading come from a datatable.
So, I iterate through the items in listbox2's datatable but as I'm adding the items from the datatable to the listbox2, I check if the item exists in listbox1. The data that is being compared is the Displaymember of Listbox1 and a string value I want to manually load into listbox2.[code]....

I'm having a small hiccup in the following code. Basically what I have going on is a play button that will play the selected item in the listbox and once the button is clicked then the next item in the list is highlighted and waiting. This works exactly like I want it but the only issue is when it gets to the last item in the list it want play it.
