Asp.net - Index To Indentify A Gridview Row Cells?

i have to modify an asp.net application. The app consists of an huge gridview with lots of javascript, controls and cell modification (color cell etc.) in it. Now i have to modify the gridview to add some more colums. Lot of code is based on identifying a cell based on its index e.g. row.Cells(1). Is there way to optimize this behaivor? I dont like the thought to add a colum in the middel and then increment all indeces to match the new positions.

I want to calculate the total price of price fields in Gridview Footer ...ie..

cycle through the cell values of particular column in a datagridview. and if duplicates are found, display them in a message box.

Now this is a very basic concept, but the problem is when the last row value is returned, i get an indexing error "Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index" i tried to count-1, but that doesnt cover everything. And even easier, would be to set no duplicate allowed in the datatable itself. but i want to fill those particualr rows with color.

I am a newbie in VB.net(programming). I need your advice regarding Gridview control.
I have a gridview loaded with two columns-one column(Name)is with some Text,another(Price) is empty.
I have got a TextBox with the data of Name and Price.
Now,I would like to loop through the Textbox,and see if the Data/symbols of the Column(Name) of GridView Control matches with the Data in Textbox.
If the Names of the GridVies First Columns data matches with the names of the Textbox,then the Price data should be fetched in the Second Column(Price) of GridView.[code]...

I have a GridView which is showing results and from which I am deleting a result using the auto-created delete link. My code behind to remove the row and associated info. is:

When I click the "Update" button in the gridview, it fire the RowUpdating event, but it returns a error "Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index"

I have a gridview with a dropdown list that was created programmatcially. I want to have access to the selected value and to that row's Id. I have the dropdownlist created in *Gridview_RowDataBound* and I am able to use the text in the cell but my addHandler is never fired. Where do I give it the Add handler. I believe I can assign it the addhandler in RowCreated but how would I be able to set up the add handler if the button is created in rowdatabound?

It fits best in Rowdata bound because my dropdownlist items don't duplicate but I need to be able to use the addhandler I created.

When I right click on ultra grid view or may be grid view. I want to display different contextmenu strip for different columns. But when I right click I get index of column which I selected not which I right clicked.

i have problem for the drop down list in the grid view, it not fire the select index changed. I bind the data for the drop down list when the row databound. But when i select the data, it not fire the select index changed. Another drop down list which hard code the item list fired the select index changed. Below is the code behind and the front end code.

My main goal is to have an excel spreadsheet that automatically plots the overall success of my stock portfolio over time (% change over time). I've been able to incorporate stock data into my spreadsheet by linking it to the web, but the trouble is the spreadsheet will keep no history of what the previous stock values were, so I can't graph how things change over time. This sounds like it might be too complicated to be built in to excel, so I was wondering if anyone knew how to program this in Visual Basic. Maybe something like this.... If refresh then new cell plus new time stamp. Another possibility would be to have a whole bunch of cells that refresh only once but at longer and longer intervals, e.g.,

I have a DataTable and want to connect the cells of one of its columns to cells in some other DataTables.
For example:

I have a parent page and child page, both aspx. All is working, but now I would like to close child page, if user leaves child popup page and goes back to parent page and clicks on something else like page index of Gridview. I CANNOT close popup child page if user goes to another app, or some other location, I only want to close if something on parent page is changed.
I have the PageIndexChange Event set up for other purposes, I would just like to add some functionality, perhaps a script manager to close the child popup page if the Gridview index is changed, java or another way which ever works best.I think I might also need to check if the child page is even open.

I have a datagridview, with 3 columns, each containing dropdown filters (in the column header). Of the 3 columns, 2 are working perfectly fine, but whenever I try to filter the 3rd column, it gives me this error: (Also all of the column's have the ColumnType property set to: DataGridViewAutoFilterTextBoxColumn) "Index was out of range. Trying to input a high setpoint, low setpoint, a % load, and number of compressors, then calculate the temp that all compressors are off. I've got the web browser with tabs in all working fine, but there's one bug, i can add tabs, delete em, etc.. but when i delete a tab then go to create a new tab, it gives me the error: InvalidArgument=Value of '6' is not valid for 'index'. I am coding a program for a movie trivia game that randomly shows a movie quote and the the user selects a movie name from a combo box that matches. I used a array for the movie quotes and a comboBox for the movie names. I have coded a portion of the program but I am stuck on how to compare the array quote being shown to what movie the user selects from the comboBox. I have tried numerous different things but none seem to work right. The way I have it coded now it shows that every movie I pick that it is right even if it is wrong. I am working in VB 2008 and I have set up a datagridview to display rows of data which can then be selected. When I select the first row I get the error: Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. When I select any other row the program executes as it should. From what I have learned so far is that the DataGridView has an index of -1 and that it counts the header row as part of the index which is the -1.When I select the first row through either DataGridView1_RowHeaderMouseClick or DataGridView1_CellContentClick the index is 0 for the first record. If the index is 0 I think it would fire off, but I have no idea what is happening behind the scenes. I can check the index, so when it is 0 and the code attempts to access the row, that is when I get the message.On an index number of 1 and up the code executes fine.So, is there a way to re-index the DataGridView, or is there a work around/fix for this issue?
