I'm using VS2005.After I install an application using an .msi. Everytime this application loads it tries to find the setup and installs itself again if a file has been modified. If I delete the .msi file then the application can't even load.Is there a way to remove this link between the application and the msi?
General question on linked resources. I just want to clarify what an application does with linked resources. For explanatory purposes lets say that my resources are a bunch of images. My understanding is that linked resources are really just a reference to where that resource is on disk, whereas embedded resources are stored as part of the application.
I have a large number of MS Access databases that I'm automating to relink tables. However, there is one table that can't be relinked normally as Access says it has too many indexes. A manual work-around is to link to the view in SQL Server (2000/2008) and rename that table. Now, I want to do this programatically (I'm using DAO to relink the tables, which works nicely). I've been looking at CreateTableDef, but I don't know if this is the right way of going about it. I don't want to hardcode 260+ fields that may change (this is the main table from a 3rd party vendor, so I have no control over the fields in this table, or any normalization for that matter, but that's another topic...).Also, 98% of the tables being changed are Access 2000/2003 tables. The other 2% are Access 2007/2010.[code]
Currently I have DataGridView box, clicking generate button fills it with a query from the database.I want the add button to add another row filled using the same query, so far I cannot get it to do it.Current generate button code:
Me.TableAdapter.FillBy1(Me.DataSet.App)
Add button code:
Me.DataSet.App.Rows.Add() - this does add a new empty row
I tried sticking the generate code inside (between add brackets) it but that just did the same thing as the generate code.
I have a notification icon that is supposed to pop a bubble whenever a webbrowser object's file title changes to a specific value. Unfortunately, it won't do what I want. When I wait, and change the title from another line (Mibbit chat, so changes title when someone speaks) it still won't show a bubble.
Here's what I have:For value As Integer = 10 To 0 Step -2
I badly wanna Serialize a Linked List into XML and deserialize it back when required. I didn't get proper results when i did google. But, I learnt through the following link that it's not possible to do so. [URL]
I have the following function that combines objects based on their gameScore attribute [code]NOTE the function is in a different class than where I have the lists I'm giving it..I had to set all the game positions blank because it saw an object with the same ID but different position as a different object. I didn't realize that even though I passed in the list ByVal the code deletes the courses on the original list somehow.First I input the origonal list expecting it not to be altered and put the output as a new list.[code]Yet somehow even the last one deletes the gamePosition attribute on listGames BUT *Doesn't* do the sum funtion for them, why is this happening it doesn't make any sense, it shouldn't touch listGames
Seems to work sometimes, but when i navigate to other pages, sometimes it works soemtimes it throws and error.Error:Value of '1000000' is not valid for 'Value'. 'Value' should be between 'minimum' and 'maximum'.In the prgressbar1 properties i have maximum set to 2000000The progress bar just zipps through, and dosent really look like its "checking: the process.
Private Sub progress_changed(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowserProgressChangedEventArgs) Handles WebBrowser1.ProgressChanged 'Update Progress Bar
I am trying to make a form that is blank and will add in 2 comboboxes, a textbox, 2 buttons and a checkbox next to each other in a row. I want the controls to be part of an array, so that all controls on a row are associated with that array number.I am currently able to make the first row appear when the form is loaded, however when i click one of the buttons(which are used to create thenext row of controls) it comes up with an error stating that the index was outside the array bounds.
Here is the code I currently have:
Public Class frmWhere Public SQLString3 As String Public locationy As Integer
I have a search engine on my ASP.net 4.0 VB site that in which I need to link the search results with their individual pages. I understand that this can be done simply with a submit button after the search textbox but a submit button wouldn't fit next to the search bar on my page, plus it wouldn't look right.
i have a simple relationship which is shown in the link below

after doing much research i cannot find a proper way of deleting rows which are linked in all 3 tables. This is the code i am using currently
strsql = "delete * from cg_security_user_right where user_id=@field1 & right_id=@field2 " Dim objcmd As New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand(strsql, acsconn) ' the oledbcommand With objcmd .Parameters.AddWithValue("@field1", TextBox1.Text)
I'm having trouble dragging a record from a linked file. The structures for the three files
Customer File: First Name Last Name Address etc
[Code]...
how do i then display all the records in the booking file, in a listbox - but to also populate the relevant details from the other files. Example: after displaying the Customer ID in the booking file, to get the first name and last name from the customer file.
There are 2 ways we can add .vb files. We can add them as a link and choose not to copy. Or we can add them and copy. The way I did it in vb.6 is equivalent with add them as link and choose not to copy. Also what's the point of copying to target folder anyway? I want the original linked file to be updated when I change the file during debuging.
so i have a linked list of employee objects. I now need to iterate through the linked list to see if i can find a matching object. I could iterate though using the [code] What i'm not sure of is how i get the employees[x].EMID out to check it
One section of my latest project idea involves linking several form controls to the Google map (distance calculating section), which is area I'm not familiar with.
What I would like to achieve is following: (VB2010) I would like to link two combo boxes on my form to Google map (Start Address and End Address)as well as two labels representing distance & ETA time to Google map (Suggested route, option No.1, highlighted section).
As soon as user select values from combo drop downs on my form, code performs search trough Google web page and return values to my labels on a form. At the same time database would be populated with a same search values (Start Address, End Address, Distance in Km and ETA time)
Link to a web page seems to be a very common request within community members but I did not find anything similar to what I would like to do, so it makes me think that my project idea is going to be" hard bone". I do not need Google web page displayed on my form in a split container or in any other way.
I'm having an issue linking a lot of .resx file into a compiled assembly to be used in an asp.net web app. The error message I get is:
Could not find any resources appropriate for the specified culture or the neutral culture.
Make sure "Reports.My.Resources.ArgsRptAgeAtAdmission.resources" was correctly embedded or linked into assembly "Reports" at compile time, or that all the satellite assemblies required are loadable and fully signed.
My solution is set up as so:
Two .dll projects, both building a 'Reports.dll' at the same location (to be able to compile different sets of reports into the website).
One web app project
Each project is located in their own separate folders.
When I build my reports dll project, it saves the assembly in the site /bin folder. I then run the site, builds without errors. I get the exception when I try to load the report that uses the embedded resources. I find it odd, as in code I can access Reports.My.Resources.ArgsRptAgeAtAdmission just fine with Intellisense.
In the report code files, the exception is being thrown from the code
Dim resources As System.ComponentModel.ComponentResourceManager = New System.ComponentModel.ComponentResourceManager(GetType(Resources.ArgsRptAgeAtAdmission)) 'Exception is thrown here _____ / _______ Me.textBox3.Text = resources.GetString("textBox3.Text")
The assembly is also being loaded in to the page through reflection, if that makes any difference.
What am I doing wrong in this scenario? I can retrieve the string value by directly calling Reports.My.Resources.ArgsRptAgeAtAdmission.textBox3_Text without error
How can I use the Linked Label Control on a Form without the underlines. I mean, each time I add a Linked Label Control on a form, it has the underline by default. Is there anyway to remove the underlines? Only performance counts!
I have an MS access database with some .dbf files linked to it. One of the dbf file is a sales file. I am trying to generate a report for each of the month's sales. For that the sales dbf file will be different for each of the month. I want to give an option to the user to specify the file name from which he wants to use to generate the report. After accepting the input from the user, i need to link to that table in MSACCESS. Is there a way to achieve this from vb.net
I have started a little program which is linked to an access database, and it basically allows the user to input a name and a picture, with the file path stored in a text box and the picturebox getting the picture location from said text box. At the moment I am using the BindingNavigator to go between data. Everything works fine, however, whenever I press previous or next, the picturebox loads up the picture using the file location of the previous datas picture field. How can I tweak this so that when I press next or previous it loads the picture into the picturebox using the file location of the data I am going to, not coming from? [code]
I have an Access frontend with a lot of tables linked through ODBC to a MySQL backend. I have a VB.net application that sometimes adds columns to the tables in the backend, and when that happens, I need to refresh the link to the table in the frontend from the VB.net app to show the new columns.I'll consider just about any solution as long as it doesn't require restarting MySQL or Access, and will allow me to refresh only the links I need to refresh (which I know in advance) as there are hundreds of links and tables in the frontend.
because of him i get fianl Mark of my Graduation project. any way i just want to go back programming and also try to upgrade my tapped web browser i want to linked progress bar with web page downloaded and i tried more and more and then find a way i want u all check but it's works with first tap and other tapes not works here my code
Im using an excel sheet as a datasource to retrieve som values that I use to draw a modified voltmeter.
However the excel sheet is DDE-linked to another application (3rd party) that updates it on a realtime basis. Every once in a while, that means my app gets a value it cant handle, or it cant access the specific cell because its being written to.
This causes my picturebox (voltmeter) to draw an error image. Now I would have thought that once its supposed to redo the whole operation (datafetching and drawing) that would get rid of the error image (its on a timer). It doesnt. So how do I solve this? If I close the form and reopen it, that takes care of the problem, but I dont want to do that.
Im building a program that's linked to a ms access database. the function i use to update a row... In order to save a lot of typing i inserted a for loop that uses a directcast function. i did this because i have numerous text boxes that i name tb1, tb2, tb3, tb4...etc and they each correlate with row 1, row 2, row 3, row 4...etc in the database.[code].....
Recently I've found how to add a link to an item in Visual Studio so that you can reference common or shared files between projects. Editing the original propagates the changes to the projects where the file is referenced. But you can also edit the reference item and the changes are reflected in the original file, is there a way to prevent this behavior?
I get an error like this "The object reference is not definied to an object instance" How to catch the value from the label IdLabel and TextBoxComments in this situation?
I am trying to update a table across "non" linked SQL servers using:C# or VB.net and ADO.net sqlDataAdapter.
I need to use DataTables and sqlDataAdapter.Very Important I need to use BatchUpdate and avoid looping through the DataTable The table designs in Server 1 differ from table design in Server 2.
Source Table
Server 1. Table 1
ID INT[code]....how to update table 2 on server 2 using a sqlDataAdapter, or alternative batch method?
