.net - Filtering DataGridview Using DataSet -> BindingSource, Extra Columns Later Added?
Apr 29, 2011
For a WinForms VB.Net application, I use the Bindingsource's filtering capacity to filter data, which is seen in a DataGridview. The BindingSource is from a DataSet, created using the Designer, and the data comes from a Access DB, using JetEngine and .Net 3.5. So basically:
This filtering works fine, however, now I included some extra columns in the DataGridView, which I'd like to filter on, too. Of course, when I feed the manually added columns to the Filter of the BindingSource, this doesn't work out.I've done some research, and was not able to find any way to use the BindingSource's filtering syntax on the DataGridview. I'd like to use this syntax though, as I designed quite a nice UserControl and class around it, to provide smooth, fast and simple filtering capabilities.
I have a datagridview.I fill my datagridview using csv file. I need to filter it using 2 datetimepickers. The filter must display only the columns which are the start date, range of columns between start date and end date, end date. I give you the code and the screenshots that how my program result must look like. My code is not working here even after click the button1 it not filters. Please can any check this. sorry for bad english. Here are my csv file, code and images. My result must look like image2. here the tportera column must not be filtered. it must remain there.[code]...
I have a datatable property called prpParametersTable in a class called clsBatch. I have a procedure that sets a datatable variable called dtP equal to prpParametersTable at the beginning of the procedure. I then add three new columns to dtP.Here is my problem. When I add the three new columns to dtP my original table prpParametersTable also gets those columns added to it, why? I only want to add the three columns to dtP and not prpParametersTable. How can I do that?
Private Function prvfnc_InsertBatchParameters(ByRef cnn As SqlConnection, ByRef trans As SqlTransaction) As String ' set new columns that have BatchID, Insert DateTime, and UserID for the SQLBulkCopy method below Dim clm As DataColumn Dim dtP As DataTable = clsBatch.prpParametersTable
All fields from my class objects are added to the columns collection of DataGridViews, when the forms or custom controls that contain them are viewed within the VS 2005 designer. I haven't been able to figure out how to stop the designer from auto-adding all of the fields found within the bindingsource object.
I have a datagridview bounded to a bindingsource (that is, in turn, bounded to a dataset that is the data origin of the project) and a bindingnavigator to a Access table, all of this done with the visual designer of Visual Basic .net 2005. I want to print in a crystal report the rows shown in the datagridview after filtered using the .filter property of the datagridview. But, to achieve this, I need to get the filtered rows in a dataset, and I havenīt got this in any way. If I pass to the crystal report the main dataset origin of the project, it will print all the rows, not only the filtered rows. I would have figured out that there would be a .getfilteredrows or something like that in the bindingsource object, but there isnīt. I managed to get this manually, through a loop, but I canīt believe it is the solution experts use.
Issue is I would like to filter the datasets based the user type and a few other ways. How can I filter each table(sql query) using the BindingSource that was automatically added. I thought I read that some of the functions work against the current datamember, so I tried the following code.
VS2010 (SP1) / .NET4 on Windows XP Pro Im having a slight issue with my password hashing function. The following function hashes the supplied password using SHA512 and returns a Base64 string.
I have a USB interface connected to my PC which is used to control DC motors (robotics). Supplied with the interface is a VB program that produces a form with text inputs (motor speed) and tick boxes (motor on/off). This program calls upon a supplied .dll for the interface. I have played around with this program and have added extra buttons to 'stop all' or 'run two motors simultaneously' etc. What I really want to do is run a sequence of events, for example:
-Motor 1 on, speed 50, run time 5 seconds -Motor 1 off for 2 seconds -Motor 2 on etc, etc
I have a series of text boxes on my form, and my client wants me to filter out characters that aren't allowed, for example in the name field you cannot have symbols or numbers.
Now, he wants it so when you try and put in a special character it simply will not get entered into the text box. I know the logistics to this, but I'm not sure how I would go about coding it.
Basically what needs to happen is when the user types in characters like $, ^, 5, * etc, a function needs to recognise this and stop them from being entered into the textbox, whether it means deleting them as soon as they go in or interrupting the action altogether.
I am working on a realtime application where the data is addded to a List(of T) all the time. MB per minute
Elements older than X minutes shall be removed from the beginning of the list to free memory.
As far as i can understand will there be an internal (slow) redim when i add each element after i have reach the number defined with the Capasity metod. (I set that quite big from the start, but the data speed is unpredictable so it can be exceed)
What happens each time i remove and element from the beginning of the list , seems like it takes a lot of time, ? new redim ?
What is the most CPU fficient way of removing 1 or many elements from the beginning of such a list?
I have a dataset (WW1Dataset) with one data table(WW1).(database used in an access database) I'm trying to filter the dataset e.g a user wants to filter by a chosen surname (SurnameTextBox.text) so the datset is filtered to display only those records wherethe surname column in the dataset matches SurnameTextBox.text.
in my form_load sub i added a line to enter a new row when the form is loaded by using me.bindingsource.AddNew()Is there anyway i could tell it to only add a new line only if the rows are empty, the table does have a primary key column where its seed is 8000 i dont know if this would make a difference to how you would make it work
I have a bindingsource that is connected to a table where tho fields determine uniqueness. During a refresh I would like to return to the row that the user was on when he clicked the refresh button. BindingSource.find only supports one column in so far as i have been able to infer. So how doi do it. Altering the table is out of the question. Besides searching on multiple fields is a common event. Like for example first and lastname or perhaps company and journal number.
I have a database with a Student table and a Class table. There are many students and many classes and each student is a member of a class.I then have a windows form that needs to display a list of student names in a listbox. However, I have a different form for each class. So for example in this form I have coded below, I need to display all students that are members of class51. The code I have so far is reading in all students from tblStudent and this is not what I want. I know that if I was doing SQL or something I'd simply write SELECT * FROM TBLSTUDENT WHERE CLASSID =his?
Private Sub frmAttendace51_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load 'clear data set of any existing data
I've got a requirement to create report datasets by taking a list of tables, columns from those tables, filters on the tables, and relations between the tables - and build a dataset from them. All this information is contained in an xml file. So I:Read the data from the tables in the list into the dataset. Apply any filter criteria on the tables to the default views. Add any relations between the tables to the dataset relations. So far, so good, but now comes the hard part. One of the requirements is to create a default view (or table) of columns at the dataset level - with the appropriate constraints and filters applied. So there would be this default table or view that would have, for example, columns 1 & 2 from table1, columns 4 & 7 from table2, and column 5 from table3. This is where I'm stuck, because there doesn't seem to be a 'view' property or function at the dataset level.
I have two list boxes populated by a master list and an excluded list. the excluded list is pulled first from a csv field in a table, and is inserted in to the excluded listbox. it's workin great. The master list contains all items and is pulled from a dataset, but should filter out those in the excluded list and populate the second list box with only those values that are NOT listed in the excluded box.I'm trying a for/next loop and i think i'm close but this one is becoming a pain. Here's the
' Declare Variables Dim categorydr As DataRow Dim categorydt, As DataTable
i have a strongly typed DataSet that haves these two tables:
AUTHORS ID Name and
[code]....
Somewhere my system haves a function that returns a DataSet with the books of a certain subject and all the Authors that wrote such books.I need to show the book's attributes in some textboxes inside a Form. I use a BindingSource to display the ISBN, Name and Subject of the books in a textbox, yet I don't know how to display the author name of the book I am currently viewing in a TextBox, taking into account I already fetched the Author into the DataSet.
Its pretty much the Child/Parent display problem somewhere discussed in the codebank, but kinda backwards, the thing is that I;m navigating through the CHILD records here, not the parent, yet i have all the data needed in my Dataset.
I have multiple datasets that I would like to combine into one. There is a common ID field that can be associated to each row. Calling Merge on the dataset will add additional rows to the dataset, but I would like to combine the additional columns. There are too many fields to do this in one query and therefore would make it unmanageable. Each individual query would be able to handle ordering to ensure the data is placed in the correct row.
For Example lets say I have two queries resulting in two datasets:
I just converted my project from VS 2005 to 2008 and started getting really bad lag only when intellisense iterates my dataset objects. The cpu maxes out one of my cores for about 2-3 seconds each time the intellisense list pops up. Is this a new feature of the 2008 ide?
I am attemting to read a .txt file database into an xml file and then read the xml file into a DataSet and then bind the dataset to bindingSources and then subsequently bind comboboxes and text boxes to the binding source. I am struggling with how to create bindingsources with different filters. I am not sure if I am even going about this the right way. Perhaps there is a better way. I already have the program working using traditional OLEDB and creating different datatables but I wanted to be able to add and edit my datafile so I decided to convert it to a xml file.
HTML If Me.OpenFileDialog2.ShowDialog() = Windows.Forms.DialogResult.OK Then With OpenFileDialog2 folderName = .FileName.Substring(0, .FileName.LastIndexOf("")) 'fill dataset with selected xml table [Code] .....
I am creating an application using an Access database and the DataSet, BindingSource and TableAdapter to connect to my database, but I need to able to switch between different databases with the same tables, but new name and path. So I will need to set a new
use dataset , bindingsource and table adabter to filter or serch on database and update the datagridview
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load 'TODO: This line of code loads data into the 'Database3DataSet1.Table3' table. You can
Why does the code below result in 3 rows in my datagrid when there is only 2 rows in my CSV file? I end up with 2 populated rows and one empty row. The CSV file only contains 2 lines. I suspect the logic of the code below.
Do While Read() row = New DataGridViewRow() For Index = 0 To FieldCount - 1
I've got a databound query in my application which is querying the "Customers" table in our database.I've created this directly from the ComboBox's datasource creator in the Design view.Various bits of code created in the designer include:
What I've done in the first stage of developing this feature is to show my users a ComboBox showing a specific subset of the customer list by applying a filter to the BindingSource.
What I want to do on a second pass is to allow the users to type a specific bit of information into a textbox and check whether it appears in Me.CustomerDataSet like so:
Dim x As IEnumerable(Of CustomerDataSet.customerRow) = From cust In Me.CustomerDataSet.customer Where cust.custno.Trim = "test" If x.Count <> 0 Then
At this point, I have a customerRow object. I want to check whether this customerRow object appears in the list presented to users in Me.ComboBox_Customers via the filtered Me.CustomerBindingSource. Me.CustomerBindingSource does not (directly) contain customerRow objects, it contains Object objects. How do I find out whether Me.CustomerBindingSource contains the customerRow object at whatever lower level? Also Once I've determined that Me.CustomerBindingSource contains the item, how do I select that entry in the ComboBox?
I have a VB 2008 program over the Northwind DB customer table. It uses LINQ to add, delete and edit records.
So I load everything into a datatable/dataset first. The Add and Delete occurs when the buttons are clicked on a binding navigator. The edit occurs when a cell is changed, and that row is clicked off. I've set the Customer ID field as the primary key in the DT. I then bind everything together with a binding mavigator.
So far so good, Adding & Editing works nicely the DGV & customer table . [code]...
I have a datagridview that is being loaded from a dataset. This dataset is the result of a SQL Statement (which could be my problem). The MS Access Client table is the main table and contains 2 records, however, after loading the dataset, the row count is 3.
Below is the procedure where I load the dataset and then the DGV.
Public Function LoadClientDataSet() Try strSQL = "SELECT A.clientID, A.name, B.phone, B.zipCode, B.stateCD " & _
