Unable To Flip Through The Records In That One Text Box?

Nov 7, 2009

I have a blank form, and I've added a really simple Access database with two tables with two columns each. If I click and drag the name of one of the columns, and drop it on the form, I get a label and a textbox.

I was assuming that since the load procedure already had Me.WhateverTableAdapter.Fill in there, that when I pressed the green arrow to run the program, I'd be able to flip through the records in the column.

When I click "preview data", I do see the data is there, but when I run the program, it says 0 records and none load. Is there something else I have to do to be able to flip through the records in that one text box?

AddNew - Form Where Show A List Of My Rows With A Given A Table

Jan 19, 2009

My problem with AddNew. It really is somewhat simple, but I can't figure out the solution. I have a form where I show a list of my rows with a given a table. The user can then select a row and press clone, which then will try to make a copy of that row.

Here is a snippet:

Dim rowToCopy As cmaDBDataSet.cmaPropertyRecRow
Dim originalID, newID As Integer
rowToCopy = CType(CType(Me.CmaPropertyRecBindingSource.Current, DataRowView).Row, cmaDBDataSet.cmaPropertyRecRow)
originalID = rowToCopy.id ' id of row to be copied

[CODE]...

.... and continue to copy the rest of the data to the newrow...One of the items in the row is obviously a primary key called id. I can not copy this data since I am creating a new row. My problem is, how do I set that value!? or atleast retrieve the value for the newly added table. I need that value so that I can call another form to actually allow the user to modify this newly cloned data. I tried using EndEdit, UpdateAll, no worky. THen I thought I could assume that the newly added row would go at the end of the table so I used MovedLast then got the currentRow id from there... That worked well until we did some deletes within the table.

Asp.net - Converting The Rows Of A Returned DataTable Object Into A Useful List?

Jun 23, 2009

I am currently writing unit tests for an application near completion (before management looks at it and turns it inside out). I am testing the business layer and a method is set to return a datatable of all "GroupID"s, which are simply an integer to represent the group that a user belongs to.

I'm assuming the best way to assert on this unit test would be to assert that the correct groupIDs are being returned from a controlled test database. However, I'm not sure how to assert on a datatable. Is the only (and best) possible way to accomplish this to simply loop through the datatable until it's empty and add each value to an array of integers? How would one go about asserting on this test?

Dynamic List From DataTable.Select Rows Collection?

Jun 6, 2011

I'm am creating a "pop-up" CheckedListBox over a button on my DataGridView. The values in the list are going to be filtered based on the value in column 0 of the DataGridView.I have already pulled in a "master" DataTable with two columns: ACODE and MATRIX.I want to call the following function and return an array of strings that I can use to build this CheckedListBox with. The line between "For Each r" and "Next" generates a "Number of indices is less than the number of dimensions of the indexed array". The number of items is variable in the array so I can't predefined it. I know I'm going down the wrong path.

Function StudyGroupSamples(ByVal sampleType As String) As String()
Dim thisArray() As String
Dim theseRows() As DataRow

Generic List Equivalent Of DataTable.Rows.Find Using .NET?

May 8, 2009

I am converting DataTables to a generic list and need a quick and easy way to implement a Find function. It seems I am going to have to use a Predicate. Upon further investigation, I still can't seem to re-create the functionality. Private Function ByKey(ByVal Instance As MyClass) As Boolean Return Instance.Key = "I NEED THIS COMPARISON TO BE DYNAMIC!" End Function

Dim Blah As MyClass = MyList.Find(AddressOf ByKey) But I have no way to pass in a key variable to this predicate to do the comparison, as I used to do with DataTable..Dim MyRow as DataRow = MyTable.Rows.Find(KeyVariable) How can I setup a predicate delegate function in VB.NET to accomplish this?

Do not recommend LINQ or lambdas because this is question is regarding .NET version 2.0.

1 within each section of a SplitContainer. The left hand side will be for inputing text that is copied/pasted from a word, excell, or text file.The right hand side would be for my output. What I would like it to do is return just the rows from the left hand side that contain a match to any one of the predifined strings. This will be used to search large lists of company names and circuit IDs and return the rows with matching namesSo far I have the form created, the Splitcontainer in place along with the richtextbox on each side and a submit button at the bottom.

Removing Multiple Selected Rows From DataGridView That Is Binded To List(Of T)?

Dec 8, 2011

I have a datagridview binded to a list of objects... I have a column named Selected containing a checkbox. When these checkboxes are checked and a button is clicked, I want those particular rows to be removed. I initially set it out to iterate through the grid's rows and RemoveAt(SelectedRowIndex) but of course when it removes an object from the List of objects at the selected row (IE Row 1, 4 and 6), the list indexes change and it fails to work properly when it goes to remove the next row since Row 4 is now row 3 in the list...? What is the best way to do this?

Jan 19, 2011

I am working on Treeview control and Gridview Control VB.NET08. In the Treeview i have Parent and Child Nodes. Like: [Code] Comparing the Parent Node text and first two digits in the Column values. I want to add rows inbetween the gridview rows based on the parent and Child Nodes. If i expand the First Parent Node Called "31" then according to the Number of Child Nodes (for first parent node(31) there are 5 child nodes.) add rows in the gridview.

These New rows should be add under the 31-xxxx. If i expand the 32 Parent Node based on number of Child Nodes, add rows under the 32-xxxx. [Code] I am getting the rows in the end of the Gridrow not in the Specific row.
