i am using (i am obligated to use) npgsql driver to insert images on bytea column in postgresql db using vb.net code.after inserting the first one successfully, i try to insert the second one it finished that i have inserted the first one again, it continues until i have reset the iis.

I have just suffered a crash after trying to assign an image file to a button on a toolstrip on my applications main form. The ToolStrip was in a ToolStripContainer and already had some images assigned. Initially I was trying to insert a bitmap image which proved to be unsuitable (cosmetically) so I assigned a .Png file instead (using Project Resources file import) which caused the problem.The crash wiped out the toolstrip and also blanked out the MenuStrip on the form whilst still leaving references to them in the "Form".designer.vb file. Any attempt to resurrect either just led to more errors. I'm not attempting to detail all the error messages here (too many) and I have worked round the problem by resorting to an earlier backup.I'm really wondering if anybody had experienced similar problems and/or had any advice on the best way to add images (and what type of image files are OK and which might cause problems).
DataGridView inserting an extra row every time I populate with data. The row appears even if I only fill the column headers. This is causing problems when I try to get values of each cell. Is there a way to avoid this perhaps in properties?

I am using datagrid to show my products. The products have a image and I should show it. Problem is, datagrid is only text and there was some reference on creating custom columns but I still dont quite understand (Mostly are custom url columns).
I have a ListView that I am using to display specific data. In most of the columns, I have images that represent supported types. When I add these images and build the project, they go away.It worked for a few weeks until they suddenly disappeared.
i am new to VB.NET and am creating an application for twitter, my problem is that i have a datagrid on my form. On my code i have created a dataTable to store the user messages in one column and the usernames in the other column. My problem is that i cannot add a third column to the dataTable to store the user images, how do i do this? my sample code is as below :

The app i am working on is for creating theme for the iPod touch... It has to deal with LOTS of images (100's potentially) There will be the set of default images, and then the user created replacement images. I started loading all the defaults into a resx file... thinking then I could just pull them out. now that I started setting the default, this sucks! lol the app will do this, on load it will set all the images (variables) to the resx images then when a theme is loaded, it will replace the default with the user image (if the user img exists) otherwise, the default stays. Then the "screen" is drawn to show the user. so, here is just the images to build the wallpaper, dock, and status bar...
I was thinking to make an app to save images [or download images] to local hard disk. But to keep it easy, I want this app to create a small picturebox on form to show the thumbnail of downloaded image. Lets say a 5 pictureboxes has to be added with the thumbnails to show the recent downloads. A user can save the location where he wants to save the files on hard disk. A listbox or a dropdown menu will help in categorizing the images, like image1 in friends section, image2 in family section, image3 in others, etc... When the program restarts all the latest 5 thumbnails has to be loaded in pictureboxes and the directory that was chosen. Finally, a button that shows the downloaded images into original image file size one by one or a slide show. Is it possible to make such program?

I have placed several PictureBox Images of different colored dots(which represent lights) on an image of a Christmas Tree. I can make the lights randomly flash using a randomGenerator and a Select case statement. However, the code is very long. There are 67 lights on this tree and the code is 71 pages long. There has to be an easier way to do this. So far I have tried the following with two images of lights just to see if it would work and it does not work:

I have two text files, the first text file has two columns separated by a space (" ") and the second text file only has one column.
The column 1 in text file 1 and text file 2 match albeit in different order, what I'm trying to achieve is for every field in column 1 text file 2 I want to search for column 1 in text file 1 and display the matching column 2 field in column 2 text file 2.
VB GridView control will not allow code in the vb code file to access a data column that has its visible property set to false. When it is set to true, the data column can be accessed with no problem. Any suggestions as to how to correct this? I have looked through the documentation, text books, and I have not found anything that gave me any clue as to what the problem could be. I thought that the property was just applied to the column, not that it would remove the column from being accessible.
