I'm using windows server 2008 & IIS 7.0 to deploy the my vb.net 3.5 application. I'm successfully able to run the URL on my server.Same URL having IP address & port number configured is not working on client system.
It is showing IE default error message as "page cannot display"
When I am trying to connect to database from VB.net, I am getting error.

I know it's possible in asp.net to create a custom error page in a web app, by putting the following line in the web.config: <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="frmErrorPage.aspx" />
I have had to do this for my web app, since it is clearly much tidier than letting the program bomb out with it's ugly default error page. My custom error page just has the customer's logo and a brief message saying "Error has occurred. Please return to homepage"The trouble now is that I have no way of knowing what caused the error, when a customer reports it.
Is there a way to make the actual error message appear on this custom error page too?
I have a aspx page with several input fields(couple of int's and strings) and 3rd party gridview. Data is validated, and stored procedure is called from code behind to save data in DB. Gridview has capability to display error box to user which can be called from code behind. So when I catch exception I give it my error message(error message is something like:"Data can't be saved to database. Error:" & ex.message and call function that displays errorbox.

It is working perfect in my test environment, even though I expected For Each loop will throw "Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute" exception. since on each child form Close() calls, f.MdiChidren collection get modified, that surprised me a lot. So i've been working on a page for a project where the person logs into a login page and then can see a list from the database of employees. everything is working except for one problem. If someone puts in a username and password, username= a and password=b, for example it still allows that individual to view the next page and doesn't throw the error that i have enbedded on the login page to say sorry you have the incorrect password/username. The problem is that if a user need to update other data the user click another button which refreshes the page and all rows the user created in the table are deleted. My question is what can I do to make the rows not to be deleted once the page is refreshed? I have converted a Windows Forms VS2003 application to VS2005 and then to VS2008. It includes a setup project for deploying on the client computer (the regular installer, not click once). It works fine when I run it on my computer, either in VS or if I install using the setup installer. But when I install it on the client computer and then try to run it, I immediately get a System.InvalidOperation exception. I put in debug code before my code but it fails before it gets to any of my code. Both computers are XP. The client comptuter actually has VS2003, though it is not used.
I have tried it with either the 2.0 framework or the 3.5 framework (and included those as prerequisities) but neither makes a difference (and I did set that in the Launch conditions, as well as in the Advanced Compile Options). The application uses CrytalReports for VS.
I don't think I can run JIT debugging on the user computer due to permission issues. Are there any other debugging things I can try to narrow this down or has anyone encountered this.
I have developed a windows application which connects to Oracle Database and upload and retrieve data (using System.Data.OracleClient). It is working fine in my developement system. When I build a setup and deploy in another system, it is giving error that Oracle Client is missing.
Do I have to install Oracle Client in the client system to run my application?
(When I visit Oracle site for Oracle Client, it is asking me to download a 200 MB file)
Is there any other way to do this with out installing Oracle Client in the client system?

I have a web site that I developed on Vista using Vb.net9. It makes a connection to Oracle. for the connection I use System.Data.OracleClient. It works fine on my machine, and our test server, but it does not work on the production server. We installed the Oracle Client 11 on the server. We've tried, making a console app that opens the connection, connection runs fine, opens, displays a message and all is well there.Then we make a simple web form, put it in the directory of the program, just a button, opens the connection, try..catch, grabs error, same error.The console app was running under an Administrator, web site running under iwam. All I am attempting to do is pull data from an Access database with four small tables into a data grid on a windows project. Should be simple, set up the data connection, choose a datagrid from the table in the data source view, drag it onto the page and done, right?I can't get it to work. It will all work fine until I attempt to run or debug the project. The data will not show up. The data grid does, but I get this error: A first chance exception of type 'System.InvalidOperationException' occurred in System.Data.dll
As I said, the project seems to build fine, but it will not pull the data. After the initial build I get the message that Windows will show this page in Compatibility View. Is it something with Win7 Home Premium, or a setting somewhere?
