Im new to vb and mysqlHow can i make it where you type your username and password and it connects to my database hosted on my site and then if the user nameexists and password exisits it will login and if it doesn't it will get you a error message?

View 3 Repliesit's just for a program registration. i would store all of the registration codes in the access database, then export it to XML, then upload it to my web host. I would then somehow connect it to my Visual Basics login form (Which I have already made). If this can't be done, having them register through the form and having all the allowed codes on the internet (So i can easily edit them)!
View 5 RepliesI created a SQL DB named MainDB.mdf and a small VB 2010 application with some forms and datasets. Everything was working OK until i got a new computer and re-installed Visual Studio 2010 and SQL server 2010 on it. I copied my DB from the old to the new computer and also copied by VB 2010 project to it. I used Windows Authentication to connect to the DB in the old computer and also in the new one, i am using different Windows user account names though.
I was able to connect to the DB in the new computer in the Server Explorer section, i created a new connection string to the DB and i can seed there is data in the tables. When i run my VB 2010 application created in the old computer get error:
"Cannot open database "MainDB" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'D630Admin'."
I need to get rid of that error and be able to add/mod/del data from my DB using my VB application as i used to.

I'm not sure what method would be the best to achieve this but I'm a bit short on time to have this done as it is a school major work and this is one of the final steps but me and my partner are stuck and the teacher refuses to help, probabaly because he doesn't know.
In the register I need to allow the user to input a Username, Password, First & Last Name, Email, Address and a Phone Number On the login it will only require a Username and a Password.

I have the lines above to login by database. However, I really don't know why always give me the error: "Incorrect fields". I am 120% sure that all the fields of the table are right, including the text that I put into my textboxs. I have already add a user into the database. I already tried to show the data of the database into a Datagridview and it works fine, it displays to me all the rows that I had add in the database.

I had a problem with WebBrowser component. Basically, it works improperly when try to log in on one web-site (Forex Trading Social Network | Online Forex Trading Forum and Social Networking Site). I am working with Visual Studio 2010 Professional. I created a simple WebBrowser trying to access the indicated web-site. The problem begins. Well, the website loads, but when you go to the login page (Forex Trading Social Network | Online Forex Trading Forum and Social Networking Site) and try to log in, it doesn't work. I mean, when I enter the login details the login page just refreshes itself and the login wasn't proceed. The same login page appear with every login attempt. The is the current problem!I check with Google, it works. But, it doesn't work with Forex Trading Social Network | Online Forex Trading Forum and Social Networking Site! Why?

This is really bad looking for me, but i don't know of a better way of doing it.
We have just converted a large VB6 desktop app to VB.NET 2008. First via the VB 2005 (open project), then days of fixing errors, etc. Then opened the VB 2005 in VB 2008 so now it is a 2008 solution.The more we try to test the worse it gets. It did start and crash with typical errors but now it does not even get off the ground.[code]The more we try to fix the earlier it crashes. The 1st form load does not even start (break point not stopped on but it did before and failed on AppFrameWorkOn = True where AppFramWorkOn is just a boolean in another module.Except same code works in other programs.We have written several dozen other VB.Net 2005 programs but this one just doesn't make sense.There is also no Configuration Manager in the Build menu.

The executable when run on a different machine throws the above error. It cannot be caught with the IDE due none of the developers experiencing it.

I have project which is implemented in VB.Net using VS 2008. I install build on Win 7 64 bit machine an see a splash screen after which it thorws exception saying "The type initializer '<class name>'for threw an exception". The class is NotInheritable and the method which I'm trying to access is shared. The same project works fine on win 7 32 bit machine. The build is also compiled using x86.

To keep it more simple i have created each section of the program in individual projects/solutions and then when they all work well, copy the code from each project into one Big project. Everything was fine, but when i put the global variables all together in 1 module, i get the following error:'The type initializer for 'WindowsApplication1.Module1' threw an exception.' This appears everytime a line of code is ran that reads/writes to a var in the module.

I am attempting to write an application for booking conference rooms, now this application needs to have a login box with the option to create a new user.
Now I have created the database object no problem, I have designed the login form and also designed the create new user form ( I have also added the dataset to this form which loads the updated user information).
