API And Working Between Windows

View 1 RepliesI have embedded the WMP control in my Visual Studio 2010 app which works on windows 7 (Framework 4.0), but installing the app on winXP, I get the following error:
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Interop.WMPLib, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

WRN: Assembly binding logging is turned OFF.To enable assembly bind failure logging, set the registry value [HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftFusion!EnableLog] (DWORD) to 1.
Note: There is some performance penalty associated with assembly bind failure logging.To turn this feature off, remove the registry value [HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftFusion!EnableLog].
I guess this is a reference issue, but I have added references to WMP libraries (axinterop.wmplib.dll and interop.wmplib.dll). The WMP works on the XP machine, but not when called from my application.I have searched the web now for 5 days and changed references, and reinstalled the media player on the XP machine, but nothing works.
I have developed a Windows Service in VB.Net (VS2010) which is running on Windows7. I am trying to get "MainWindowTitle" for processes thru their process object but it returns empty.

I'm using Visual Basic 2008 and I've written a very handy little app that takes care of serveraladmistrative tasks when our company gets a new project. I won't get into all the features but one of the tasks that it performs is setting up a new projectolder structureon our file server with a predefined set of subfolders and it also sets userpermisions on the subfolders.nder Windows XP it worked great and saved me tons of time. It made me giggle everytime I used it in the past becuase it would save me so much time doing these simple but time consuming tasks.
Now my computer is a Windows 7 Pro machine and the only way I can get the exe to run is to right-click the .exe and choose RUNAS administrator. I'm already a domain administrator so why I would need to do this is silly and annoying. In my code I already included a RunAs_Impersonator class so that anyone could use the app which worked great until windows 7.The RunAs_Impersonator class that I use can be found hereI recently needed to make some additions to the program'sbut when I try to debug itwhen it gets to the portion of trying to create the folders on the server,the program breaks and makes claims that I don't have the rights to do so.
I have an old 32bit vb type app and we're running it on windows 7 64bit sp1. On one computer it works fine, on another it doesn't work right. Do you know how we could debug this and figure out what's causing it? Could a different CPU or bios/chip set have something to do with it?
This is the thing we're using specifically:[URL]...
I am using Visual Basic Express 2010 and the AXwindowsmediaplayer PlayStateChange event does not appear to work in Windows 7. I put a break point in my code and can start, stop, pause the player and the event is never initiated. If I run this in XP or Vista it works. I even started a new project in VB express on the Windows 7 machine with nothing but a player and the event and it is never initiated. is there a work around for this? i have set a timmer but the event I am watching for, MPLib.WMPPlayState.wmppsMediaEnded, happens so quickly that the timmer never catches it
View 10 RepliesI have an application that I want to load using the scheduler in windows. I am also wanting the "enter" key pressed when the app loads. Because you cannot use a batch file I tried using a vb app. It works great on two different windows 7 machines but not at all on the xp machines. The xp machines load the app but don't follow through with the sendkey.
Sidenote - I had to repeat the sendkey function in order to get this to work because I am not sure how to use the sendkeys.sendwait function. I tried and it never worked.

I am working with Visual Studio 2010 Pro. My OS is Windows 7 x64.I am migrating a VB.NET application that was written for .NET 1.1 / 1.0 in a much earlier version of Visual Studio.The project converted without many issues and works except for on thing. The Jet 4.0 libraries are not available for Windows 7 x64. I understand that they have been replaced with ACE Provider, with actually has an x64 version.
I need to be able to manipulate an MS Access 2003 format database (MDB). I am planning to target .NET framework 2.0 to ensure maximum compatibility with downlevel clients. (I can't install framework 3.5 or 4.0 on these machines). I need to continue supporting MS Access 2003 format on these machines. If I switch to the ACE provider, wouldn't I have to at least install the Microsoft Office 2007 data access components on all of the machines that will run this application? What's the best way for me to target these older machines without having to install any extra software? They already have .NET 2.0 installed and have the JET 4.0 libraries registered.
I have a User Control that contains a System.Web.UI.WebControls.FileUpload control as well as a button to 'Submit'.
When the button is clicked code similar to the following is executed:
If FileUploadControl.HasFile Then
'Save the file and do some other stuff
End If
This code works just fine with Windows XP. However, if I run it from a Windows 7 64-bit machine using IE8 32-bit the HasFile property always returns false and nothing is saved?!
I have an application that resides on a network drive.When the program runs from an XP machine on the desktop or over the network the program works for any user.When it runs from Win 7 on the desktop it works for everyone, but when it runs from Win 7 over the network it fails for users with fewer permissions.Below is the code.It fails on the last line "Dim searchResult As SearchResult = directorySearcher.FindOne"..[code]Can anyone tell me what is missing in the network permissions?

I am trying to get an application installed on a friends computer, written in VB 2008 Express. However, he continues to receive the Windows Application 1 stopped working message whenever he launches it.
He states that there are not any error details, and I am in a different state so I cannot even begin to diagnose the situation, so this is all I have to work with. Are there any suggestions where I can even begin to look that would cause this? He is on Win7. which is what I developed the app on. The program is pretty simple, and utlizes sql server r2. Any suggestions on some starting points to check? I have run it on 6 or 7 other computers with no problems.
i have developed windows application using VS 2005 to print PDF documents using third party software PDFCreator. This application is working fine in my system but when i try it another system its not working and there is no error thrown as well.
Sample code which i use in my application is given below:
Dim PDFCtrl as new PDFCreator.clsPDFCreator
PDFCtrl.cPrintFile("c:file1.pdf")
I'm creating a windows service with a timer that will tick every few seconds and then query a database. The timer for the service works fine, but as soon as I add any of the MySql details it stops working. Just adding the few lines below stops it from working

I'm currently starting work on my first windows service and I've encountered what I find to be a strange error. For some reason the compiler is telling me that a whole bunch of typical classes (such as Image, Bitmap, Graphics, etc) do not exist. For example, these simple lines of code, which work perfectly in a normal project, return a bunch of errors:
Bitmap b = new Bitmap(destWidth, destHeight); //Error 13 The type or namespace name 'Bitmap' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage((Image)b); //Error 17 The type or namespace name 'Image' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

I have added a minimize to tray function into my webbrowser and it makes use of the notify icon control. Now I know my code isn't flawed as it works in vista in xp but not in 7 (The icon simply is not in the tray).
Me.Hide()
NotifyIcon.Text = ("Xtreme Browser, Current User: " + Current_User)
NotifyIcon.Visible = True

View 1 RepliesI have a timer routine (basically just a timing loop) that moves shapes around the screen. The problem is that it isn't in sync with Windows (Vista). If a Windows background program runs (like an antivirus) the screen goes gray. The timing routine still runs but the display is shut off. Only when the shapes are done moving does the screen return to normal (but I didn't actually see the shapes move). Another good example of my issue is when I finish debugging and press the Start button, again I don't see the shapes move, I just see a grayed out screen with the cursor in "busy" mode.
All the other VB.NET programming I've done doesn't assume so much control as this timing loop. I've never had to worry about coordinating a routine with other windows functions. What's the trick to getting this stuff to work together smoothly?
I'm not sure if the other post went through so, i am using AxWindowsMediaPlayer1.Pause() and it's not doing anything i get the error:

I am working on a VS .NET 2008 windows service for 2003, however it doesnt appear to work correctly.I am basically reading a file from a networked computer and trying to display its content, the code is as follows:
Code:
Public Class LB_Analyzer
Private WithEvents Timer1 As New System.Timers.Timer
Protected Overrides Sub OnStart(ByVal args() As String)
[code]....
Now, everytime I run this service it logs the events inside the "GetMachineVol" function, but I never get to the ""Ticked at "" event log from the "main" sub, pretty much as if the service stopped working after trying to assign the value returned from "GetMachineVol" to the string "MachineVolBSFull". I tried using this code on a windows form and everything works fine, and since debugging a service is quite beyond my skills, I really do not know what could be wrong.
I have a Visual Studio, Visual Basic form that includes an OK button and a Cancel button.
What I want to do is have the OK button save the options that the user chooses and of course the Cancel button discarding them and returning them to their previous values.
But what I'm noticing is that as I'm debugging the form, the values are being saved regardless of whichever button I'm choosing. On the form's properties, I have declared that indeed the CancelBtn is the CancelBtn and that the OK button is the OK button, but the values are still being saved regardless.
Is there a better way to do what I would like this form to do?
EDIT:
Here's the code so far for the two buttons, both are being set to close the window. AcceptOption should save the values and CancelOption should just close the form. I'm sorry if this isn't done well but the FAQ's that I found only mention changing the properties of each button and nothing about the code.:
Private Sub Button1_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles AcceptOptionBtn.Click
' Save the Options

I have set up a form with windows media player on it, it has four buttons and a text box.[code]Button 4 should move the movie from its current position to the current posiotn + whatever is in the text box.It all works ok apart from button 4 which doesn't do anything.[code]

I have VB.Net application that has worked fine for years on XP and Windows 7. For some reason the last update I put out does not run even the simplest VB commands.Simple Environ() fails.I have tried putting simple VB commands onto a MsgBox on the start of the app and everything raises an error. I have no idea what is going on! The exact same app runs fine on Windows 7 clients. All the XP machines including a fresh XP virtual machine with the .Net 3.5 framework even gives the errors. No VB commands are working. I thought maybe something happened to my vbproj files, so I copied an older one from a couple weeks ago when things worked fine and it still does not work.
