I want to use automated testing using autoit for my existing windows form based application. Currently looking at the autoit documentation I couldnt figure out how to start a existing windows application in vb.net and then use it for further automation.
How do I dynamically create a form from within an existing form.i.e. when a user clicks on a button on an existing form that I have, another form is dynamically created and shown modally for the user to enter specific data or as a dialog box to advise the user of a specific result.
below i have the form which i made in access, its BIG, REALLY BIGI am going to try and recreate this form using VB and MySQL, the question is how?The purpose of this form is to display all locations ready for someone to enter in information into them, normally the first field in each table has a unique name (which is set as the default value for that field), in the morning, the only field which is altered is a sign on field, which in access, the user clicks and the time is entered.
I am working on the following scenario: I got an existing VB.net application. Now I have to add a login mechanism to it. What I want to do is, add another form to my project and show it before the 'real' form of the program is displayed, so that it can handle the login procedure.
I have 2 projects. The first project has a form called Form1 in it and I want to import this form into Project 2 and have it fully working without any problems.
im trying to add a "rating" system to an existing form (i.e 1 star, 2 Star or poor, average, good, excellent etc).Does anyone know of a way to achieve this that is aesthetically pleasing with good UX either in .Net or a free 3rd party control?
I have a form already created, but now want to expand the application.I created a MDIParent, but cant seem to find how to change the existing form to an MDI child.
I'm building a code editor app in VB.NET (Framework 4.0) and it opens all ".por" files into individual forms consisting of a MenuBar and TextBox (multi-line).Currently I have 20 forms (all duplicates of the first on I designed) and if there are say 4 ".por" files in a directory, the first four will open up while the others hide.
I think it would be far more efficient by coding a new form For each item in form1's ListView...but I want the next so many to be a copy of the first form I designed since I spent a good bit on it.
Using the new Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition Beta.Created a project, form, controls, etc. Worked great. Love it, compiled perfectly.Saved everything, closed the program, went to bed. Woke up, opened the project, but now CAN NOT open the form (form1.vb) in Designer mode!! I can open the code, it's all there, exactly as I left it, but cannot get back to the designer mode to (easily) add more controls to it!F7 just opens the code, right-click just gives me code option, not designer option. This is amazingly frustrating..
How can I add a form from one project into a new project, I dont want all the code just the form layout. My form has alot of textboxes and labels and I dont want to have to recreate it. I see the insert from existing item but not sure how to get just design and layout?I am going from 2005 to 2008 express if that makes a difference
i am trying to add an existing form to my project to reuse. From solution explorer Add>>Add Existing Item i select [filename].vb. But i can only see the codes not the dialog items.
I have successfully created a new excel with the code
[xlApp = New Excel.ApplicationClass]
and can transfer and manipulate data from my VB2008 form back and forth with the spreadsheet One time only each time I try and add additional data it wants to open a new workbook with the same name but cant seem to get it to just add the additional info.
I have an MDI parent(MDIParent1) form with a child form(frmMain). The child form got a Tabcontrol(TabControl1) in it.I am trying to load other forms(say form1) in my application to this tabcontrol as tabpages. I use the following code for that

I am working on a database application for my Class Reunion in VB.et and VS 2008, My problem is when i build the program it will only work with 1 Database For my Class year, I would like the ability to be able to create a new database for a different classyear than the 1 i build and pre-Populate, so the person using it can do more than 1 year and keep the databases seperate.
I'am trying to write a program for projects management. It is based on MS SQL Express Server 2008 database.I have 2 forms. In first form I have list of projects (using DataGridView and showing all projects). So if user click on Project name cell second form will open with Project details (using text boxes and labels to show one project).I try something like this:
Public strValue as String Private Sub DataGridView1_CellClick(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewCellEventArgs) Handles DataGridView1.CellClick
Is it possible to reload a form of the running application from one computer when I executed a function from my other computer with the same application? co'z I want to see the changes of data on my datagrid view
I hope this is in the right category. If its not, direct me for where it should go. I'm quite a, what you would call "noob" to visual basic. I'm trying to make a web-based (LOCAL ONLY) Tech Request system for my LOCAL machines (Only 1 noted for use). I want a login area (I think I know what to do for that.), a open request area, a OPENED requests area, a way to CLOSE requests (by staff only), and and started/not started field for staff to use.
how to write the code for my project.I am to base my new project on an existing one(existing one has code that works 100%)and create an Array of a structure that bascially holds the information from a summary form AND the totals from an AddToOrder_Click event. If you are still with me)... I cant figure out what the code is for my structure and Array so that I STILL have a Summary Form but I have an array that shows when I click my PrintPreview. So an Array is basically a "space" that holds information, like my summary form except it doesnt show until I click PrintPreview right?
If I just wanted to show the table then my code belongs in the PrintDocument1_PrintPage to show the array but the actual structure code belongs in the Click_Event of my AddToOrder? Please Please understand I AM NOT asking for anyone to write my code, basically I am asking for some clarification on what exactly creating an array from a structure is and therefore determing where the structure is to be placed in my code..
I've decided to make an new archiver based on existing dlls. Im aiming at a simple 7zip style archiver thats quadcore optimized and 8 core compatible (the 8 core part can wait cause amd's bulldozer aint out yet). I'd like to include [code]Where do I start? And where can I get the dll's? (multiupload.com links are nice).
I'm creating a windows application form in vs 2005 for a client.. It's a data-tracking application. I have a few questions. The client wants a logon screen to be added into the application (at least any way or method that'll ensure that security was applied). My question in regards to this topic would be; Is it necessary to create a logon screen (or even a user authorization) for a windows form? I realize that in a webform project, security should always be considered and should be applied in all areas. Although with a windows form, I thought you can authorize who can gain access to the application by defining which workstations to install the final production release of the application (when its time to deploy the file). Is this correct?
My next question is, what is the best method to exporting data from EXCEL to SQL tables? I have many Excel files that I'd like to take portions of data from each file and insert them to there proper table.
The last question is about deploying a windows form application. As you can tell, I don't have much experience when it comes to developing Windows Form projects. Anyways back to the topic, When deploying a project, does it provide a .EXE file (installation package) to install the application on the workstation? Or is it a .EXE file of the application, where you can run it and no need to install anything?
I have a form called FrmPracDetails, which has details of practices and each practice has a unique prac_no populated on the form in the text box called TxtPracNo. Now, I have another form called FrmPayHistory. This form has a datagrid called DgvPayHistory, which is loaded with all the payment history of all practices. It has also a field called prac_no and stores the unique prac_no.
What I want to do is, when a user is in FrmPracDetails, lets say prac_no 1115, then you open the FrmPayHistory. Only the payment history of that respective prac_no should be seen. Presently, it brings all the practices and their payment history. I have added a textbox (TextBox1) in the FrmPayHistory which links and displays the prac_no from FrmPracDetails with the following code:
Private Sub FrmPayHistory_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Me.TblPayHistoryTableAdapter.Fill(Me.TblPayHistory._TblPayHistory) Me.TxtPracno.Text = FrmPracDetails.TxtPracNo.Text End Sub
I have a form based application and I need to add the ability for it to read command line arguments and not display any forms if the app was started from the command line. How can I go about this?
I'm wondering how do i create a User Interface that scale automatically based on the form size that the user desired. For example, we can see it in most of the modern browsers. The UI scale (larger or smaller) automatically based on the form size (try Chrome or Opera)
I am working on a project using Visual Studio .NET 2003.I am trying to open a second form based on user response to Yes/No Message Box. I have tried two different code variations. The first variation is:
Dim MsgAnswer As Boolean MsgAnswer = True Dim MsgRes As DialogResult Dim CustomerInfo1 As New Form
[code]....
With this code I get an exception error: An unhandled exception of type 'System.NullReferenceException' occurred in OrpheyOnOpen.exe Additional information: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
