I'm just going to throw all my code in here in case there's something wrong with a piece of the code not in the "SelectName()" sub.
Module Module1 Dim selectednames As String = "" Dim index As Short = 0 Dim inarray As Boolean = False
[code]....
Here's an image of what it does (I suppose you can see what went wrong)13 inputs, 3 outputs expected, only 1 output given.As from what I've figured out so far, it's doing the correct amount of loops etc. It's just as soon as it starts generating the "winner" for the 2nd game key it doesn't get a string value from namesarray.Also, why is
For x = 0 To totalnames - 1 Debug.Print("namesarray(" & x & ") = " & namesarray(x)) Next
In my case, I'd like to output to a ListView or TextBox or for that matter, any control which can accept text. For this purpose, I'd like to have a general purpose Trace/Debug listener which I can hook to in order to process the messages (convert to a ListViewItem or something) before outputting it. Is there any way I can achieve this or do I have to build my own Trace Listener? If it's worth noting, I run VS2010 ultimate & VS2008 professional. Solution should be in preferably be in VB.NET but C# is okay.
I have a fellow employee who is learning Visual Basic and in one of her assignments she is using the debug.writeline statement. Example: Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Debug.WriteLine("This line always prints") End Sub When you run the program, nothing prints to the Output window. I have tried it in VS2008 and VS2010. Brian Allison
I am using vb2008.net express,I test vs2005term it work, can any tell me what is the input variable and output variable of this terminal?how to catch the input and output variable to a textbox1 for sending and a textbox2 for receiving when I press send button? is that possible?
I am using Visual Studio 2010 Professional in trial mode... and suddenly the Output window won't show my Debug.Write() stuff. It had been showing it for the past month.I have been using the 2010 version for 30 days (after upgrading from Visual Studio 2003) in trial mode. I just renewed the trial for the extra 60 days, and the "About Visual Studio" window says I still have 59 days left.
I have verified that the application is running properly, without errors. When I purposely generate an error, the Output Window properly shows the error and the stack trace I've already checked my Build>Configuration... it's in "Debug" mode, not "Release". The Debug.Write() text is not going to the Immediate window, either.One other point, I tried running the same application in the Visual Studio 2010 Express Edition, and it complained that it could not debug the specified code, though it did properly build it so that it would run in the build. Could Visual Studio 2010 Express have modified something in my project files to disable the debugging output?
Since reinstalling VS2010, it has not been displaying proper debug info. I don't think I changed any settings but I have had a hunt through the options and can't see anything I might have messed up. I have had a quikck search and other people seem to have had the same problem but no solution. I'm running Windows 7 x64 with latest updates, if that matters.
I've created a SSIS script task for debugging: printing SSIS variables and their values. This is done with (a maybe restrictied version of) Visual Basic. Rather then creating a message box or writing to a file I'd like to write to the debug output of Visual Studio - or to some other window available in Visual Studio when running a SSIS task. Something like fprintf( stderror, "Hello world!" ) in C. I suppose I need to get the Stream Writer Object connected with the debug output. But how do I do this? I also tried Console.WriteLine() but this didn't succeed.
I'm looking for a way to search a string variable for two words and copy the text in between them into another variable. This needs to be done as many times as the match occurs.
When in the degug mode stepping through code a line at a time, I want to monitor a variable that was created public on another form. It adds the request, but won't shoe me the data. It says I have to ahve an object reference. I don't know what it wants exzactly or how to give it. Here is an example:
I have on form 1 one a variable, Crec. I am in the debugger debugging code in form 2. To access the variable on form one in my code on form 2, I have to use this syntax: form1.crec Now when I put this quickwatch request in, while debugging form 2, it will not let me see the value for form1.Crec It says I need an object reference. Can you tell me I am doing wrong and how to correct it? I'm sure it something simple.
It's often the case that I can write a nice tight little VB.NET function, and when it comes time to do the Return statement, it's really natural to just return the result of a quick calculation or a method call. However, this makes it difficult if I need to step through the debugger to see what is going to be returned from that Function. For example, take this simple method to illustrate the concept[code]...
The following output produces a string with no closing xml tag. m_rFlight.Layout = m_rFlight.Layout + "<G3Grid:Spots>" + Me.gvwSpots.LayoutToString() + "</G3Grid:Spots>"
I want to set a variable as the output of my code, do i do this by using the microsoft.visualbasic namespace? Or will there be another way of doing it? (I have only just learnt about this and i'm still unsure what a namespace actually is) This is what i have so far (i have tried to put it in context):
Next j Dim indashoneTmp, getWinTemp As Integer Dim indashone As String[code]....
It is a do loop that is putting calculated values into an xml output file.
I am trying to create a program that solves the rubiks cube and ive started, I made a program that asks for the variables, now I want to output them using my function writeline(). I am trying to use a for each statement to read and output every variable for each object "face". but I am not sure how to go about it.
Heres the code Module Module1 Dim Top As New Face Dim Left As New Face Dim Front As New Face Dim Right As New Face Dim Back As New Face [Code] .....
So I created a loop that collects data from the user that runs for a time dictated by the user. It then stores all the data in excel and outputs a graph.The problem I am having is that I cant seem to figure out a way to set the range of the graph for the points taken.since it runs on a loop i have i = i + 1.where the the output into the excel file sequentially writes to the next cell [code]which doesnt seem to work like I would have hoped.Also, there is one other thing that my program keeps doing that I cant seem to figure out.One of the outputs to the excel file is decimal number, it shows perfectly in the textbox, but when I export it to excel it rounds it to the nearest whole number.[code]
Im trying to add a variable that shows amount of tax deducted in a list box among other output variables. If anyone can help I would like to know how to code the lstResults.Items.Add("-$ " & Tax & " Tax") bracket to display the amount of tax deducted from the total salary wages.

I am using vb2008.net express, I test vs2005term it work, can any tell me what is the input variable and output variable of this terminal? how to catch the input and output variable to a textbox1 for sending and a textbox2 for receiving when I press send button? is that possible? I attach the example of my question this is a a good source, but it is not relate to my problem: [url]...
what is the connection string when the database copy paste in debug folder?I have a code connection string it's work but when i try to other computer cannot connect in to the database.
Try If sqlconn.State = ConnectionState.Open Then sqlconn.Close() End If
Simple question that does not seem to be covered: If I use a lot of Debug.WriteLine statements in my code, will they be completely absent in my production version?
I mean: Is the compiler smart enough to not emit any code for those calls? Or would I have to surround them by #if DEBUG..#end if directives?
I am trying to insert a string variable inside of two strings, and make a combined string. Public Sub Page_Load() Dim Id As String Id = Trim (Request.QueryString("Id")) End Sub Dim mp3text as string url... & Id & ".mp3" My goal is to make the mp3text variable have a string that is: url...(If Id is 7) It is for some reason not connecting up correctly. I checked what string it is outputting and this is what it is giving: url...It is missing the Id content.
It's just a small calculator project so it's no big deal, but after I had built the project, I wanted to change the project name and all the file names that had that string in it (and all internal references to that string). I had played with this before and knew that it was asking for trouble but I thought, "What the hell, I'll try it again." feeling a bit brash.
Well, everything works fine in debug mode, but there is this DOS window that pops up just before the main form does, and it doesn't go away for the entire debugging session. I think I see that window pop up on all other projects too (if the main form doesn't cover it up completely), but normally, it's only there for a split second.
I'm working on a little app that requires the results of a dsquery and dsget set in a string for clean up (replacing spaces and other not needed characters).I can display the results of the stream with ReadToEnd - but can't seem to find anything on getting it into a string.[code]
I have a program for class that I need to output the left right and center portions of a string based off a value in a numeric up/down control. I have the left and right working correctly, but I cant figure out how to get the center to output.
Public Class InputForm 'dims value for character amount and length Dim iChar As Integer
The code below works for the class that I hard coded "XCCustomers" in my RetrieveIDandName method where I use CType. However, I would like to be able to pass in various classes and property names to get the integer and string LIST returned. For example, in my code below, I would like to also pass in "XCEmployees" to my RetrieveIDandName method. I feel so close... I was hoping someone knew how to use CType where I can pass in the class name as a string variable.
Note, all the other examples I have seen and tried fail because we are using Option Strict On which disallows late binding. That is why I need to use CType.I also studied the "Activator.CreateInstance" code examples to try to get the class reference instance by string name but I was unable to get CType to work with that.When I use obj.GetType.Name or obj.GetType.FullName in place of the "XCCustomers" in CType(obj, XCCustomers)(i)I get the error "Type 'obj.GetType.Name' is not defined" or "Type 'obj.GetType.FullName' is not defined"
These is the content of my txt file which is saved in D drive in my pc abc,1,2,3..I tried the flowing but it didn't work:[code]I am getting error on this line.. data = line.Split(","c)...it says this line isn't in use anymore or something and that I rather use LineInput but thats asks for filenumber and i don't know what that is. I am sorry but I am a complete beginner. what else can I try? [code]ok that error is gone now but now if I want to add these values to a list box..how can i do that?
i have a problem with my code: [code] At the bold part, when i goto debug my program i get the error "Conversion from string "TrueFalse" to type 'Boolean' is not valid."
