Add - Delete Or Replace Data With Buttons In VB 2008 Express (Access 2007 DB)?
Feb 4, 2011
I have a database, added in data sources. I can manage records with automatically generated database toolbar.I want buttons for Add, Replace, Erase data from Database. So far i've seen some Tutorials but they are most likely for VB6 and also i'm really new on VB at all.
So i've uploaded all my project folder and my access database for you to rewiev it.Also excuse me for my englsih. It's not my native language. And again i'm new on VB, so i can ask dumm questions about basic. I can use some qualty VB 2008 tutorials links too.
I am using MS Access 2007 as database and VB 2008 to build an application to show the content of 2 tables as a single table.I have two tables in MS Access and i have linked both the tables using "ID" as primary key(1st Table),foreign key(2nd Table). I used Query Wizard to show the data of both tables in a single table(3rd Table).I am able to view the content of all 3 tables using datagridview in vb 2008(Using Code), but i am unable to add, delete, save and search the content of the table using code. My concern is,i will be able to do all these operations using codes only.Would you please help me out in this.
Only my local dataset updates when adding, deleting or editing records. The Source Database is supposed to update on issuing DataAdapter. Update(dataset )However, when I check my source database after running the operations it remains the same as the original.
i have successfully connected VB2007 Express edition to MS Access 2007 but i don't know save the newly entered record into access database from the VB interface.
I'm using Visual Basic Express 2008 to create an interface with a order database in MS Access 2007 (.accdb file). Everything is fully functional except updating the "Inventory" table is very slow. Updating around 2200 items takes almost 2 minutes and the window will appear as "not responding" for the duration if you click away and come back. Here is the process:1. Tab-delimited text file is picked by user, which includes all inventory items (not just new ones)2. Each line from text is parsed and read into variables (tempSKU, tempItemTitle, etc.)3. Old items are updated and new ones are added. -> This is the bottleneck
I used to have a series of IF statements to check which elements were changed and report them, but that was about 2x as slow. The new code is a little faster but doesn't provide the feedback I liked (update part is commented around):
Private Sub btnImportInv_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) andles btnImportInv.Click Dim strName As String
I am wondering how to use the keyword replace in VB.NET SQL statement and I am using MS Access 2007 Replace(CallNumber, CHR(32), CHR(13)+CHR(10)) SQL statement I am using within my connection string is: SELECT title, callnumber, location FROM CARD_CATALOG
I will start off here by asking the question. How do I make the data from a database be bound to my project? I keep trying to add a new data source so that I can drag and drop things to my form, but I am unable to. I follow the steps, choosing an OLE DB, the file's location (D:Data Connected Applicationsfile name) The conecting string looks like: Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source="D:Data Connected ApplicationsItem_Database_A.accdb". I choose the objects that I want (In this case, the entire tables option) and then it returns a message to me stating that: An error occurred while creating the new data source: Could not get information for 'WindowsApplication1.Item_Database_A.accdbDataSet3'
I am working in Windows 7 Home Premium using MS-Visual Basic 2010 Express. I am having difficulty connecting to an Access 2007 database using ADO. When I try to connect to the database I get the following error:
Error Code: -2147467259
Exception: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application
Source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers
I looked at...

There were several reference to compiling the program using x86.
Go to Project menu -> Properties -> Compile tab -> Select "Advanced Compile Options" -> Select "x86" instead of "AnyCPU"
I followed the path and there was not any option to select x86 in VB 2010 Express.
For years now I have been using access as my database. But with the SQL server Express version around I have been wondering if it is not better to use this instead of access. Note: I only develop applications for small businesses and a limited set of users. So what do you guys prefer and recommend?
After trawling around the net for a good few days, i decided to post something here.
Basically, i've got a problem linking a data source (Access 2007 database) to a VB 2008 project.
I've broken it down to having a problem dragging a table onto my form, when it generates the nav bar, it says "0 of {0}", and the table is empty (despite the actual database containing values)
However, this happens only at home, at college it works totally fine. The only difference that's obvious is that i'm using Windows 7 at home, and Windows XP at college.
How do I insert, update, and delete records in vb.net 2008 from a Access 2007 database?Really, I figured out how to add records - but I cannot delete or update records. Any pointers, website tutorials, etc? Also, I am binding the database table to Listbox which is working, but I need to update the listbox with deletion and update changes too...
Whilst writing a routine in Access I founf it rather fiddly for user...was thinking it would be much better for them to click a button in VB.net and that would do all the hard work.
So is it possible to do these task against a Acecss 2007 database
-Delete table -Compact database (to clear out table) -then run query to remake table
I have built an Access 2007 database with some data stored in it. I have managed to export data using VB2008 from that database to Excel 2007 and have it automatically draw charts based on this data and a query in the Visual Basic Code. One of the results looks like this:
I am not able to add records in an Access 2007 database using VB 2010 Express Edition. I have read other posts and followed them but still I am not sucessful. I have the connection to the access database as MS Access Database, therefore it has the OLEDB connection (not the Jet 4.0). I am using the project instance in binding the text boxes to the fieldnames in the Access database. Did I miss something? I am also using Windows Vista Ultimate.
I'm trying to create a simple Data Grid that will automatically save changes. So far I have a data grid connected to a MS Access 2007 Database that reads the data. I can create new fields in the Data Grid, but I need to program to save the data automatically to the database on update (or on close).
I'm just using the default SQL Server Express in my vb 2008 express edition as my database server for my database operation. When I tried to update the records on my table I got a runtime error which indicates the error on this line 'myCommand.ExecuteNonQuery()'and it highlights a yellow background on it. The runtime error says "SqlException was unhandled: An expression of non-boolean type specified in a context where a condition is expected, near 'Number'. ".
Imports System.Data.SqlClient Private Sub Button3_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button3.Click Dim myConnection As New SqlConnection Dim myCommand As New SqlCommand
I am trying to store data to access by VB 2008 express. basically, I have 13 check boxes to let the users to choose. when they finish checking the boxes, they will click the button "submit" to submit it. VB will store this as a new row in the database.
However, my insertcommand is shown as invalid. so I need your help to figure out my errors. I put the codes in my reply below to be clear.
How do I transfer data from Excel 2007 into Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express as shown below? I try copy and list of data in excel as shown in the screenshot.. But when I paste in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express.. Only the first result is past inside..
I added the reference and the "Imports" line, and I get the folowing error on the line
Code: Dim oApp As New Excel.Application Dim oWB As Excel.Workbook = oApp.Workbooks.Add() Dim oWS As Excel.Worksheet = CType(oWB.Worksheets(1), Excel.Worksheet) COMException was unhandled
Old format or invalid type library. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80028018 (TYPE_E_INVDATAREAD))
I just installed a VB application developed using VS 2008. I installed the application on a Windows 7 machine. The application uses a MS Access 2007 database. When I run the application, an exception gets raised:The "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" provider is not registered on the local machine. But I don't seem to have this problem on a Windows 98 machine.
problem is when i enter any letter in the alphabet in textbox1 it gives me an error but when i enter any number on it, it goes perfectly to the database. i set the data type into text(all 3 of them). the other two textbox work just fine. textbox1 is the only problem.
i just want the textbox1 to accept any input not just a number like the other 2 textbox work..
heres the code:
Imports System.Data.OleDb Public Class Form2 Dim cn As OleDbConnection
I am having trouble writing information to a 2007 access database. I just want to write a numeric value into a data base. My table name is KW and my field is also referred to as Kw.
Dim theOleDbConnection As New OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;" & _ "Data Source=C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\My Documents\value.accdb") Dim theOleDbCommand As New OleDbCommand("INSERT INTO[KW] (Kw)VALUES (@P1)") theOleDbCommand.Connection = theOleDbConnection
I'm having trouble to add Data to a Ms Access 2007 from a Text Box. This is the coed I'm using at the present time.
Private Sub btnNext_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnNext.Click If (IsNumeric(txtOrderEntry.Text)) Then DesignForm.Show() ElseIf txtOrderEntry.Text = "" Then
I have created a form wherein there is a text box , and a button, the text box is binded to a access database table and field , i want to add the data of text box to the field using the button.
i don't want to use conventional binding navigator
I need to connect Access 2007 Data base using VB.net application. (This is an AddIn working underAutodesk Inventor 2012 64 Bit). When I use a ODBC DSN (under C:WindowsSysWow64) I need to compile the application with targetas x86. But Inventor 2012 64 bit needs target as x64 or Any CPU. So ODBC - DSN not working. When I tried OLEDB as "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=database.mdb"It returns with an error Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 not registered.
Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0; Data Source=c:database.accdb;Jet OLEDB:Database Password=password;" This also gives the same error.
I am a VB.net beginner. I am doing simple program that has database connection with access 2007 and i want to store the data (whatever i enter in the textbox) to the database.I did the connection as per the instruction in the msdn(i.e;datasource/database/ms access/selecting accdb file/draging and dropping the fields of the table to the form from the datasource window)I want the code to store data from vb 2008 to access 2007.
