i am wanting to add handler for controls i add at Page_load at page load i added several image buttons and applied the image urls using -i used the borderwidth propertiy for padding as was having trouble getting a cssclass to work. [code] what i want these Image button to do is when clicked a larger image in another panel will appear so i will need to assign the clicked buttons image url to the large image controls, image url

I have a windows application that has a tab control with 5 different tabs. Each of these tabs has a datagrid view that is populated with data on form load with data from SQL Server. I have an event handler for the datagrids for CellValueChanged that appends an asterisk, "*" to the tab, when a change is made, this is meant to mimic the same behavior in VS or SSMS. The issue that I have just realized is that on page load as the datagrids are populated this event handler is raised thousand of times. I have included an If Then statement to exit the sub if it occurs during page load, but am concerned about the performance implications, if any. Is there a better way to handle such functionality? Possibly a way to ignore the event handler on form load? If not is there a negative impact leaving this functionality in?

I am currently wokring on a project, which is going to serve as an interface for accessing various documentation and reports. It is basically just a tabcontrol with a few pages that will be poppulated with buttons which will open the appropriate document.I am trying to allow administrative users the ability to add new, edit or remove buttons which all seems relatiively simple, but have run into the problem of how to persist the changes once they are made. I want the setting to be stored centrally, either in a SQL table or on a network share

I just added a gotfocus and lostfocus handler for all of my textboxes. Below is my routines to call on gotfocus/lostfocus.

Now, my issue is that this works great if you use the mouse and click around in the textboxes. However, if you hit the TAB key to move around on the screen, the LostFocus event doesn't seem to work. All of my textboxes backcolor remains lightblue. What did I do wrong? What do I need to do to fix this problem?

Does anyone know why a Page_Load would be called twice on a page when requesting an aspx page?I am using .Net 2.0 with the new .net 1.1 compilation model installed. Whenever I request a page, the Page_Load on the aspx page appears to be called twice, so does the Page_Load on and user controls added to that page.

I have an asp.net website that is using update panels on the page that i cant get to reload from the server. I have this for the disable page cache on the master page.

When I click the browser back button to go back to the page it says the page has expired. the other pages on my web site work and call the page load, the only solution i found but cant use is to wrp the whole page in an update panel, but i cant do this becuase i have a report viewer on the page that does not work with ajax.

I have a page to which i send some variables with the GET method. In my VB back-end i get those variables using Page.Request.QueryString("<name>")If i then use the IsNumeric method to make shure it is an numeric string i get True back as value.
When i then try to transform the string to an Integer using val, cìnt, Integer.Parse or cType I get an error saying that my string could not be converted to a integer.So i made an error page which gives me all the info i need to deal with the problem (view below) Exception Message: Conversion from string "" to type 'Integer' is not valid.

IsNumeric confirms that it is a numeric string and that it should be convertable to an Integer. So why won't it work. I don't think that my code should provide any extra information because it only gets the querystrings, uses IsNumeric and then tries to convert them.

I am not sure, but I have understood that, if I want an array of controls with only a method that handles a particular event, I have to define a custom control and add the handler. Is it possible that it does not work with an array of normal controls?

For several days now I've been messing around with Ajax calls using different combinations of javascript, ASP controls, and regular controls. I've gotten a bit of understanding about what's going on, but using ASP controls still hides too much of the machinery, and I want to have a deeper understanding. So, I hoped to make my .aspx file do double-duty both as the regular-page request handler as well as the Ajax request handler. However, when I click the button ("baroo") to generate the Ajax request, the result that ends up written back to the "testytext" div is the raw html for the entire page, as if under normal request conditions. Clearly, my attempt to override the page request by making the code-behind implement IHttpHandler and supplying an "Overrides Sub ProcessRequest" method is not working. The server is still treating the Ajax request as a normal request, and in fact my own "ProcessRequest" method is never even called.Is it possible to build a page/handler like this? How can I intercept the incoming request from the client and respond accordingly?This is how Ajax works, right? When I click in any button in the same page, the entire page reload and it display 8 items in the RadioButtonList, If I click for the second time I get 12 items in the RBL...How can I prevent the page to reload if I click in this button. ?

I am using <%@ MasterType virtualpath="~/__.Master" %> to embed my master page content into child page to access control belong to Master Page. I have one DropDownList in Master page. And I want to access its SelectedValue in my Child Page.
Problem is when page first time loads and as I am trying to access DropDownList's Selected Value by writing in child Page - "Master.DropDownList.SelectedValue". I am not able to get DropDownList's Value. Its display's Blank.
But When Page.IsPostBack I am able to get SelectedValue of that DropDownList.

I have a form that is built and loaded dynamically when File/open is selected.however I now want to use the same code to open a default file and populate the form using the Form load event to call:

I'm using FileSystemWatcher in an application.it monitors the files in a folder, then do some processing. I monitor FileCreate, Change, Rename, Delete event.the problem is: when I copy some images to that folder, it fired the create event, but the file is not actually ready, so, when I load the file in the event handler, it failed.how can deal with this correctly?

I have to create controls for inputting info to create people objects in the program, because I don't know how many people they are going to input, I have a button that they can press to add more fields.
I need to add a doubleclick event for these dynamic controls (text boxes), how can I create an event for them if they haven't been created yet. Also, as far as I know you cant make a variable part of an object name while declaring it. I need to do something like

In connection with a windows form's text control the keypress event handler provides a key's identity through the KeyChar property of the event argument. This works fine for all alphanumeric keys and Ctl-a ... Ctl-z, Backspace etc. but does nothing for such keys as Insert, Delete, Home, End, and the navigation keys. I would also want to read Ctl and Alt keys combinations etc. I have done these thing before, too many years ago, but forgotten it all. Tried the reference manual, but have not enough years left to succeed that way.

I understand the page lifecycle and how i need to add the dynamic controls on page_init if I want to take advantage of viewstate. Also I know that I should try to avoid dynamic controls when possible. The dynamic controls are created depending on an object that is created from custom event arguments sent from a custom treeview. Problem is I need viewstate so I need to create them in page_init but I don't have the event args to create the object that tell me what controls to add until later in the lifecycle.

I've got a form with a TabControl. PictureBoxes (containing thumbnails) are added to each TabPage thru a loop. A click event Handler is added for each PictureBox. When a PictureBox is clicked, a new form is created thru code and a PictureBox is added to it that shows the pictures enlarged. What I need is to add another Handler to the PictureBox in the code-generated form so that I can rotate the pictures because some of them (photographs) were taken with the camera at 90 degree angles from vertical. I've tried to come up with a solution but I always run into the problem of the PictureBox on the code-generated form needing to be declared WithEvents before a Handler can be added.

I am playing around with Drag and Drop, and I am having an issue with AddHandler. I am creating labels and displaying them on a form. Before I add each label to the form, I add 2 event handlers (DragEnter and DragLeave). When I run the code, it hits the first event handler (DragEnter), but doesn't hit the second event handler (DragLeave). Either I have coded something wrong, or the second handler is not being added.
