I've just created a game program in VBE2008.Who do I add the shortcut Icon to the project file?When I build my program into a .exe file I want it to include a small custom icon that will automatically display when you hotlink from the desktop to the .exe file.

add some sound files to a project. When the program installs it will also make a folder (named "Sounds") and place the sound files there. The idea is that the user should be able to add more sound files here.I have added the sound files through my project properties window esources. In the solution explorer I added a new folder called "sounds", and placed my sound files there.Now, I thought that I could use this code to access my files
Application.StartupPath & "soundslip.wav"
This is not working.
I'm attempting to remake the Explorer to customize it some more. I know how to get Name, FileSize ect. Getting the Icon is hard though.
[Code]
The code i'm using to Insert the Icon into a image, i'm getting this error: Error1Value of type 'System. Drawing.Icon' cannot be converted to 'System.Drawing.Image'
Each time i go to add an icon to my program i get 'this is not a valid icon file.' it is a .ico file, i have tried .icon, as well as converting various file types to a .ico file but still i get this error
how do you add an icon to a program? are there any rules to adding one?
how to add an icon to a user control - I'm talking about the icon that shows up in the toolbox. I have found some articles on the Microsoft site, but honestly they are so complicated and esoteric that I simply cannot follow them - it's like every synaps in my brain is misfiring when I try to read it!
I would love to see a very simple example of how this should be done.
I've tried embedding the image into the resources, setting the build action to Embedded Resource, creating a ResourceFinder class (as per MS advice) and then preceding the class with:
<ToolboxBitmap(GetType(ResourceFinder), "ExposureMeter.Exposure.bmp")>
.. but so far I feel like I'm shouting into a cave without a single bat flying out...
I want to add a new icon in the MessageBoxIcon list. Is it possible? If possible how to accomplish it.
View 2 RepliesI want to add an animated taskbar icon to my WPF project. I figured I would just use the Icon property, but I'm fairly new to WPF, and I dont know how to do it. In Winforms I would create a thread like this:[code]But I can't find a Window.Dispatcher to use this approach in WPF. I also see something about "BeginAnimation" in the Icon Property?

View 14 RepliesI have a little problem trying to port a C++ approach to use a notify icon control to a VB WPF project.
Code:
m_notifyIcon.Click += new EventHandler(m_notifyIcon_Click);
VS says that m_notifyIcon.Click is an event and can not be called directly and that I should use RaiseEvent.
I am writing an application that will cache all my files and then let me display files that I would like to display. I am wanting to extract the icons from each file as I cache them.My question is this: How can I detect if the icon from one file is the same as another icon and therefore prevent me from extracting it twice?

Im in a win.form app. in .Net 2008 I have a lot of Icons that I want to display on a (TouchScreen enviroment) button The icons are in 8,16; 32 bit in the sizes 16X16 ; 32X32 ; 48X48
The buttons are large enough, they have a dimension of 252X132.The images are loaded via the Button propertie : Image. This has allso a size propertie, but is disabled. And I can see its loading the 32X32 32bpp format But I want the 48X48 size on there. Does some 1 knows how to get those sizes op the button.
I know its possible via a imagelist but why have a resource if you cant use it??
I just created a game program out of VBE2008 and did the build process to turn it into a .exe file.When I did the build function I apparently missed the step of attaching an icon to the project.Now when I do a desktop shortcut to the .exe file there is no pretty icon - just an ordinary looking window box.How do I add a desktop shortcut icon to inside the project settings?
View 1 RepliesI have a icon for my application that I set in the project properties window there is a little drop down box to browse to the icon location. While debugging everything is good. Once I build the app and place it on a PC and manually start the app all is good. My app starts with windows and now every time the program goes to start I get an error that the icon cannot be found in the DocumentandSettingUSERNAME folder. So the question is do I have to place my app icon in this folder? In design I have the icon in the binDebug folder and that is were I point to in the Project properties page.
I am using VS 2008 VB.net.
I have created a new icon using VB.NET and have saved it to the project directory. I then set the icon property for a form to point to my new icon file. The new icon shows up in the properties window but when the program runs, the title bar displays the default icon that you get when starting a new icon file rather than my new icon.

View 3 RepliesI am compiling and importing this multicolumncombo box class. I am able to run the demo program that comes with it without a hitch. However when I compile it for release and include the /obj/Release/CodeSamples.dll as a reference in my C# project, the examples won't work any more. Specifically, selecting an item doesn't work. I can add and display items properly, but when I click on an item, in the VB project it displays the first column's value, in the C# project, it doesn't display anything.
View 2 RepliesI am very very very Curious , okay today when i opened vb.2005 i click on projectAdd ReferenceCOM(tab)
It showed me different component names, so here is my question
What can i do with those Components? I saw Yahoo Messenger Components/ Bit torrent/ Real Player/ Quick Time and different applications' component to summarize my curiosity
What can i do with them? What is the reason for those components? Are they helpful? Are they ever needed? if yeah please how?
Over and over i keep getting stuck on the idea of adding references to a project. I was looking about visual studios 2010, i clicked the project menu tab, and then scrolled to add reference. When i would click on it, it would bring up a large list to choose from. So, my issue is as follows. I am told to reference via my compile error message a few items. I thought i found the elements i was looking for and pressed OK. When i would try to run, it would still give me the errors.
What am i doing wrong? Am i not doing something correct?
here is my error code, and i looked it up, but for some reason, as stated above, i must not be referencing correctly?

I have developed a VB.NET application that generates code in a specific format. It has a multitude of features and everything works great. I recently added the ability to save generated code to a text file as well as the ability to load those text files into the application. I am looking to add one last feature (perk). I want to include a bunch of pre-coded text files with the application, that new users can load and use immediately. As of right now I have the application creating the directory they will go in, but can't find anything on how to include the text files and have them placed in that directory. This application uses one-click deployment (in case that matters).

In VB 2005 if I double click the solution the solution opens with the project underneath it. But in VB 2010 they have made it complicated apparently.

View 3 RepliesI've added a C# project to my VB.NET solution and I'm trying to access all of the classes and namespaces within that C# project.However, I'm not having any luck. I've never had to do this before, so I'm a bit lost.After adding the project, I tried importing the namespace from it. When I do, I just get the green squiggly telling me that the namespace doesn't have any public members or couldn't be found.Since it does have public members, I'm assuming it's the latter issue.So is there anything I need to do in order to access besides just adding it?
