View 14 RepliesI have a icon for my application that I set in the project properties window there is a little drop down box to browse to the icon location. While debugging everything is good. Once I build the app and place it on a PC and manually start the app all is good. My app starts with windows and now every time the program goes to start I get an error that the icon cannot be found in the DocumentandSettingUSERNAME folder. So the question is do I have to place my app icon in this folder? In design I have the icon in the binDebug folder and that is were I point to in the Project properties page.
I am using VS 2008 VB.net.
I have created a new icon using VB.NET and have saved it to the project directory. I then set the icon property for a form to point to my new icon file. The new icon shows up in the properties window but when the program runs, the title bar displays the default icon that you get when starting a new icon file rather than my new icon.
View 5 RepliesI have a vb.net 2008 application which has its corresponding icon.
The icon shows correctly except in the taskbar when the "small icon" setting is on.
My vb.net project includes a .ico file which when I see in the IDE includes 16x16, 32x32, 48x48, 64x64 and 256x256 bitmaps, in 4, 24 and 32 bits, also 3 .png images in 256x256 32 bits each.
I made the icon myself simply using a 64x64 bitmap and then converting it to .ico, and assigning it to the application in the project properties. I thought windows would use and escalate the corresponding image, it shows even in the file explorer properly in the small icon form, but not in the taskbar.
I Want To Make An Application To Set Other Applications Icon (For Example : EXE ) But I Don't Know How To Set An Application's Icon
View 4 RepliesI've been reading up on this and it seems I'm not understanding something to make this work.It seems that the ToolBoxBitmap() isn't picking up the image I specify (which is a 16x16 bmp and is part of the project) and I'm at a loss to why.
View 3 RepliesI got it working having a checkbox and an Icon on my tree node. I want to set them both in the code, checked and imageindex, that also works. But when I click the node, both change. I don't want that, but I found no solution to turn that off...

I have a project that I have created, it something like a contact database.It is complete with its own sql server database, and controls and forms.I kinda of understand that I can include this project into another project.This is the tricky part,Can I include my contact project into another project and add more items to the database and forms in a new project?What I'm after is like using classes.My contact database would be like the base class, and the new project would be adding more features to that project.

My question, I building i simple program that interacts with a small .mdb database file.I've been adding several forms to my application but now all of a sudden on the main form, I'm getting a constant busy icon "blue circle". Also this happens on one other form when the cursor is on any open space of the form, but returns to an arrow when over any button or text box.
The main form has no real code whatsoever, its basically just a toolstripmenu and the only code is several tool strip buttons like the one below Private Sub CompanysToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles CompanysToolStripMenuItem.Click

I want to add an animated taskbar icon to my WPF project. I figured I would just use the Icon property, but I'm fairly new to WPF, and I dont know how to do it. In Winforms I would create a thread like this:[code]But I can't find a Window.Dispatcher to use this approach in WPF. I also see something about "BeginAnimation" in the Icon Property?

I have a little problem trying to port a C++ approach to use a notify icon control to a VB WPF project.
Code:
m_notifyIcon.Click += new EventHandler(m_notifyIcon_Click);
VS says that m_notifyIcon.Click is an event and can not be called directly and that I should use RaiseEvent.
Im in a win.form app. in .Net 2008 I have a lot of Icons that I want to display on a (TouchScreen enviroment) button The icons are in 8,16; 32 bit in the sizes 16X16 ; 32X32 ; 48X48
The buttons are large enough, they have a dimension of 252X132.The images are loaded via the Button propertie : Image. This has allso a size propertie, but is disabled. And I can see its loading the 32X32 32bpp format But I want the 48X48 size on there. Does some 1 knows how to get those sizes op the button.
I know its possible via a imagelist but why have a resource if you cant use it??
I just created a game program out of VBE2008 and did the build process to turn it into a .exe file.When I did the build function I apparently missed the step of attaching an icon to the project.Now when I do a desktop shortcut to the .exe file there is no pretty icon - just an ordinary looking window box.How do I add a desktop shortcut icon to inside the project settings?

View 1 RepliesI'm new to VB .Net and I've searched for this info in the help files, but couldn't find it.When I save a project it automatically saves it to "C:Documents and SettingsusernameLocal SettingsApplication DataTemporary Projectsfilename".I want to be able to set this path ahead of time to where I want it to go. I've set a path in the Tools > Options > Projects and Solutions > General tab (under Project Location), but it doesn't use it.
View 2 RepliesI have created a project with my forms & a little bit of validation logic, the basic skeleton of the project looks just fine.The data that I have for the project is currently in 2 Excel spreadsheets, so I have created a database within my project (I chose a SQL option, even though I have only ever used Access in the past) & I now have Database1.sdf & MyFinancesDB.xsd in my Solution Explorer.
I have created 2 Tables, the same as the Spreadsheets & have created Columns as necessary, and also set up Primary keys in both Tables and linked the Primary key of the Parent Table to a keyed column in the Child Table ... I *think* I have done what I need to do.Now, the big question (assuming I have set things up correctly !) is how do I import / load the data from the Excel spreadsheets into the SQL Tables?

View 3 RepliesI have been trying for a good while to save the forms icon(the one shown in the taskbar & such to a file...using such code as Me.Icon.Save(stream) & writing the stream to disk for example but every time I do there is a loss of color information it seems, maybe due to not using 32-bit color or lossless color or something...by what I see online it only uses 24-bit color or something.?Not sure what the problem is specifically but the point is there is a loss of color information.if I use Me.Icon.ToBitmap.Save() it works & saves right but it saves as type .png by default, regardless of the extension & not an actual icon file(.ico) which would be usable in the editor itself as an icon how do I convert it or save it correctly to begin with but without the loss of color information.This is basically a test project to see what I can do & what I still need to work on...and this is apparently one spot but I can't figure out the problem after searching bing, google and a few other search sites and reviewing the top 100 links of each to see if any contain any useful information on how to get this working....

EDIT: I know this has been asked a billion time. But when I tried to get the codes together, I get many warnings and exception errors.
I have one program with many, many forms in it and the same program is used for two companies. Basically, when a user starts the program the data location is set depending on which of the two companies is being used. Therefore, I am trying to dynamically set the icon for each form based upon which company is being used. I didn't want to add code on every form to set the icon, which is mostly what I found when I was searching for a solution.
View 2 RepliesIn the UI of my winForm I ask the user for a user name and password. I store this password as text in the Settings (the .settings file) of my project. The app is a visual Studio Add-in How can I encrypt and decrypt the password before and after I enter it into the Settings file? I don't really need anything fancy. It's just a little in-house app. But I'd like to know all my options
View 3 RepliesWe've recently moved to Team System and now a remote team needs access to our source. However, they use a different IP address to access the Team System server, and whenever they try to open a project, they are prompted to check out and change the project. It seems to be the 'SccAuxPath' property which is the problem.
View 2 Replieswell i convert a certain image to an icon file and when i upload it its just a white rectangle in the corner of my app instead of the actual icon???
View 2 RepliesI noticed that when the app closed the icon remained on the taskbar until the mouse was hovered over it, so added this:-
If Not AlarmClockNotify Is Nothing Then
AlarmClockNotify.Dispose()
End If
.. and that did the job.
Then I noticed that if the balloon was showing at the time the app was closed, the icon went - but the balloon stayed, so added this:-
If Not AlarmClockNotify Is Nothing Then
AlarmClockNotify.Visible = False
AlarmClockNotify.Visible = True
AlarmClockNotify.Dispose()
End If
and everything worked fine until the app was closed WITHOUT the icon showing (only dislays if an alarm is pending in the next x days) - then it throws and 'object reference not set to an instance of an object' - odd because it passed straight through the 'not is nothing' If statement.
