Adding Text After Text To Split Strings?
Jun 7, 2011
I have string which is:
document1.txtdocument2.txtdocument3.txt
What I would like to do is split it so it shows in a listbox as
document1.txt
document2.txt
document3.txt
I have come up with a solution which may work. Its preety over complicated too me but this is the only way I could think of?
What I need help on is a code so that after every ".txt" it will place a "/" so the string will look like this:
document1.txt/document2.txt/document3.txt/
Then I would use this code to split the string:
Dim I3() As String
I3 = I.Split("/")
For g = 0 To I3.Length - 1
ListBox1.Items.Add(I3(g))
Next

before you see any of this, you will have made a text file (dont ask how)
the text file will contain html with an unknown number of lines
(the user will click a button to add a new line to the file, so the number of lines depends on the user
each line will look like this:<a href="www.link.com"> text </a>[URL].. is just a place taker for what the user would have written there as well as "text"

I'm trying to read a text file that contains info like this:
ACX-101-011 , J2168
BTXR-130A-013, D6733
AJ4-233-614, T8211
I want to split each line at the comma and write the left side to a textbox and the the right side to another textbox. I'm close, with the code below, but I can only post results from the first line in the file. How do I loop this and append the text results in each of the textboxes.
Dim TempFile As String
TempFile = "temp.txt"
Dim sw As StreamWriter

Here's the weird problem I am trying to solve but cannot get my mind around it. In a text box 1, the user enters 2 or more strings separated by comma. then in text box 2, the user enter 1 or more strings separated by comma. The output then puts the strings from text box 2 between the strings in text box 1
Example:
TextBox1 = visual basic, java, perl
TextBox2 = is better, compared to

I have a form that I am loading text (strings) from a database into a label.text (so the text from the database shows up into the label) I have done this code in a class that keeps all my database stuff seperate.
Public Function getQuestions() As List(Of String)
Dim question As New List(Of String)
objConnection.Open()
objReader = objcommand.ExecuteReader
[CODE]...
Within the form that the label is in I have done this code
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
Label1.Text(db.getQuestions().ToArray)
End Sub
I am basically making a quiz, so that when the form loads, question 1 is on there is 4 possible answers. You then press next button and it goes to the next question.

I have read the contents of a text file that looks like the following lines into vb;
this_date = "1-2-09"
// user input
//user input
this_date = "2-22-2009"
[code]....
(there is no limit to how many "this_date" lines or "//user input lines" there are in the file and additions are made often ) When I read the file in vb I wish to only capture the last "this_date" only as the rest are irrelevant.

I see this all the time, even on this website (MSDN). The top text box has in gray italics, "Search MSDN with Bing". And when you click in the text box the text immediately goes away. How is this done? And can it be done easily in VB.NET applications? If it's part of the managed code properties of the text box control, I can't find it.

I have a string " ProductId + "&" + lblDelegateName.Text + "&" + lblMasterCustomerId.Text + "&" + lblUserName.Text". I want to split the string so, I can get the productId and the lblMasterCustomerId.text. Then, the lblMasterCustomerId.text again contains 16 or 24 digits. I want to split the digits so, in the for loop I can get the first 8 digits and next time the next 8 digits and then, the last 8 digits.

I so far have created a randomizer in Virtual Basic 2010 that:Takes people's names that the user imputed in form2 into an array (split by spaces).Randomizes the array Displays the array with a consecutive number and period behind it for each name that was imputed.
Here is the source code:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim names() As String
Dim i As Integer
[code]....
Pay attention to the last bit. I want to take the variable txt and split it. Then I want to take the first 10 names and display them in RichTextBox1, take the next 10 names and display them in RichTextBox2, and display the last 10 names in RichTextBox3.
