Jun 18, 2009I'm trying to draw some text using GDI (i.e. using a graphics object). It is done using the basic method of creating a path, adding a string to it and using a brush to fill it.
The only tricky part is that I need to apply a soft edge wipe to it. To describe what I'm trying to do better, I've uploaded an example done in photoshop: [URL]
What is the best way of achieving this? I need to be able to control the mask that is creating the soft edge - i.e. the position of the gradient, the width of the gradient etc.
Ideally I'd like to do it using the graphics object and not dipping into .dlls - but at the end of the day I'll do whatever it takes!!

Jun 6, 2011Two questions: how can I completely wipe a file from disk with vb.net? I found a code in C#, converted it to VB.net online but didn't understand a letter. I was thinking on a wiper like CCleaner has, but for a selected files only.
And, how can I manage drag-n-drop functions? Like... drag something into my form (or my app's exe) and do something with it?
VB2010 Add Query - Sometimes It Even Seems To Wipe Out The Data I Have Put In For Testing
May 1, 2011I am using vb2010 and the like @lastname +'%' to try and create a search query. It seems to work until I try the test query which brings up nothing within the test query window. Sometimes it even seems to wipe out the data I have put in for testing. I did get it to work once in one project.

The animation needs to be able to move from left to right, then stop in a specific place and then move from bottom to top. However before it moves it should bring up a labels. 2D Tile Animation Layer On A Map?
Mar 28, 2010(non-coding request)Okay, I have my client, my server, and my map editor...a 2d online game, and yes it's written in VB.NET.I have had a lot of trouble finding anything to do with adding an animation layer something that will flash with a timer to appear as if something like fire is animated. I have a lot done so far and I kinda want to stick with VB.NET working with this.
I'm not really looking for code here, but maybe an idea of "how" an animation layer plays into a map editor and client...specifically what is needed.Running this through my head I believe I am going to need a timer on both the map editor and client, showing and hiding the animation layer...but I don't think it is that easy, and am hoping someone here has an idea of the logic of how this works. I'm almost certain that the timer doesn't go on the server to control this, but am probably wrong.

May 4, 2010I'm trying to create an animation with 5 picture boxes (labeled picturebox0 - picturebox4) but I have a specific order I want them to display. I made 5 picture boxes, added images to them, and stack them on top of each other.
I want the order to show this: picturebox 0, 1, 4, 3, 2, 4, 2, 3, 1, 3... etc
The code I have using if-else statements which would work if I wanted to repeat the same display pattern but I need to manually right the pattern... I have at timer set to change the pictures every 2.5 seconds.

Command Word - Animation
Jan 1, 2012Doing the Christmas animation. I have gotten a nice HID set up to recieve data from VB6 and the computer, but I have a slight problem: I cannot seem to write what is necessary to send my data to the USB serial conversion device. I have tried send, write, open, and nothing seems to work.
Can anyone tell me what I need to do to send an 8 bit data packet to the Serial Converter so my shift register can see the data and put it in the correct output line?

Aug 31, 2011I am looking for some info to do some animation. Fairly simple stuff like dealing and flipping over playing cards, tumbling dice and such. I normally work with logic and data and do not know what would be the best approach to do a good looking animation like these. Does anyone know of some good sources on the net or even better some sample code to do this sort of thing or get me started.
