Why when I press button without enter the data to one of the field I got:

I'm trying to get datetime value but here is issue with nullable datetype.
Public Function GetDate(ByVal kodg As Integer) As DateTime
Dim g = From dt In db.xDates _
Join f In db.xGrafiks On dt.КодД Equals f.DateKod _
[Code]....
I have declared dob as date and the following code is to to call SQL server stored procedure but i cannot compile code because of error message (Value of Type 'Date' cannot be converted to integer).[code]
View 2 RepliesI need to take 6 user entered dates and compare them to a date pulled from a database & stored in a variable. If greater than 6 weeks, then some action needs to take place.When writing the code, I get the following message (before compilation). Value of type 'Date' cannot be converted to 'System.TimeSpan'. [code] Within my code the 'dt' in the line above is underlined with the error message appearing on mouseover. I have tried using CType, as in dt = CType(Session("dt_occurence"), DateTime) in the hopes that might work, but it doesn't do it.
View 11 Replieswhy did they make this so hard to do. Does anyone have any clear cut, basic 3-4 lines of code that can tell me how to add 2 time variables together to create a 3rd variable? I tried this but on Time2 I get Value of type 'Date' cannot be converted to 'System.TimeSpan'.

Unimportant because mostly code-readability is much more important than a few milliseconds, but interesting anyway.I noticed that there are differences between different DateTime Comparisons.I checked 3 alternatives:
Dim clock As New System.Diagnostics.Stopwatch
Dim t1, t2, t3 As Long
Dim Date1 As Date = Date.Now.AddSeconds(2), Date2 As Date = Date.Now
[code]....
Normally i choose first method because it is more readable and fail-safer than the others.Method 3 is the fastest. Is this the method that the compiler would choose when i use the operator overloaded method 1? When yes, why are there differences during runtime?Method 2 is the slowest, maybe because it is shared/static?!UPDATE: added some more values. Now Metod 1 and 2 are pretty equal fast.
I made this procedure re-use a select query:
[code..]
And I use it like this if I would want the selected value placed in a textbox and it works fine
[code...]
However if I want the value to be passed in a string like so:
[code...]
The string ends up having an empty string value. How do I assign the value I queried to that String?
what line i get this error " Argument 'Prompt' cannot be converted to type 'string' "
Try
If movieTxt.Text <> Nothing And ratingCmb.SelectedIndex <> 0 Then
For a = 0 To i

I've spent quite a bit of time reading up on generics, covariance, etc., and I am failing to understand why I get the aforementioned compiler error in this type of codeLet's say I have a base "Bill" class made up of a collection of Lines..
Public Class Bill(Of L As Line)
Private _lines As List(Of L)
Public Property Lines() As List(Of L)
[code].....
I have the below lines of code :I am getting the error as mentioned in the Title above.This error has come after converting a C# Code to VB.NET Code which is mentioned below:
C#:
public override IChannelListener<TChannel> BuildChannelListener<TChannel>(BindingContext context)
{
if (context == null)
[code]....
I have the following two tables defined...
CREATE TABLE [LogLevel] (
[Id] int primary key
,[Name] nvarchar(50) not null
[code]....
After creating a fresh endity model, I add the two tables above. When I try to build I get the following errors...
Type argument 'Inxsol.CommandPlan.Data.Model.Log.LogLevel' does not satisfy the 'Class' constraint for type parameter 'TEntity'.
Value of type 'System.Data.Objects.DataClasses.EntityReference(Of Inxsol.CommandPlan.Data.Model.LogLevel)' cannot be converted to 'System.Data.Objects.DataClasses.EntityReference(Of Inxsol.CommandPlan.Data.Model.Log.LogLevel)'.

I have a web form that uses an Ajax date calendar.This works fine.The problem that i have is that when i submit my form i get the following message.'String value can not be converted to a date' .AgendaDate = New SmartDate(txtAgendaDate.Text)[code]I understand that its telling me that the string value cannot be convered to a date but i dont know hoe to resolve this as i am new to .net 2010?
View 3 RepliesI am trying to make it so when I use Me.Controls("Timer1") for example I can access specific commands for a timer such as Stop() Start(), I tried CType() and typed in "Timer" as the type but it says the control type can't be converted to the "Timer" type.
View 11 RepliesIs it possible to have an argument of any type? Here's what i mean:[code]
View 3 RepliesIf i have 2 variables, how can I check if the first one can be converted to the second's one type or not?
View 24 RepliesI'm using VB.NET 2003 with .NET Framework v1.1. I know it's getting a bit old now but I'm stuck with an existing program and don't have the time/knowhow to convert it to anything newer.
My question would probably be solved very easily with Generics in .NET 2.0 but as I can't use that right now, I'd like to know if the following is possible:
I have a load of manager classes which inherit from DictionaryBase and hold collections of my custom classes. For example, I have a Employee class, a Batch class, a Supplier class, etc... and each of these has a Manager classwhich holds a collection of them - eg: my PlantTrayMgr class holds collections of PlantTrays, etc..
I have one particular form where I have to populate loads of comboboxes with the contents of various Manager objects. What I currently do in my form load event to populate comboboxes is this:
Code:
Option Strict On
Option Explicit On
Private _plantTrayMgr As PlantTrayMgr

I am trying to create a program with vb.net. I am getting the following error in the form1.designer.vb and so I am not able to run the program. Its urgent. Error1Value of type 'String' cannot be converted to 'System.Windows.Forms.TextBox'.C:\Documents and Settings\Srivathsan\Local Settings\Application Data\Temporary Projects\Cyber Cloud\Form1.Designer.vb49119Cyber Cloud And it says that the error is with this line?

I am accessing autocad commands via vb.net express
MsgBox(acApp.ActiveDocument.GetVariable("LIMMAX")) this should return a value similar to : 1014.9659,717.4758
I can access other commands fine, but the one above I get error "Prompt cannot be converted to type string"
I'm a novice VB programmer and I am getting the above error when I try to display the results of one of my Stored Procs in SQL Server which doesn't need any parameters.
My code excerpt:
Dim SQLCmd as SQLCommand = new SQLCommand()
SQLCmd.CommandText = "Exec AllTableCount"
SQLCmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure
SQLCmd.Connection = GlobalFunctions.GlobalF.GetDevSQLServerStoredProcedure(SQLCmd.CommandType)
SQLCmd.ExecuteNonQuery()

I can see this SP from VS 2008 in the Server Explorer. So the problem seems to be that I don't know how to connect a data adapter to an SP. Just a string query.
In the below code I am getting the following error on line If (Not hash.Add(Numbers(Num))) Then Value of Type 'Integer' cannot be converted to 'System.Array'.

If I remove the datagridview code the 1st part of the program runs fine and works well, it is when I add in the datagridview that the error occers.
I am trying to learn to create an array of objects, but I keep running into errors and am hoping someone can explain what I am doing wrong in my code.
To start, I have the following class:
Public Class CD
Private _name As String
Private _price As Double
[Code]....
Which produced the error: Value of type '1-dimensional array of CD' cannot be converted to 'CD'
I think I am missing something really simple. I want the user to be able to select a particular interest rate and term from radio buttons (in separate groups), the values for the buttons are to be stored in an array. Then they click the calculate button and it does it's magic and pops the result in to another field. I think I have things set up roughly the way it needs to. What I'm running in to right now is the term variable in the calculation formula is coming up with a blue underline stating that "value of type -1 dimensional array of double cannot be converted to a double". So as a result nothing is working right. I don't know where exactly I've gone wrong. If I change the data types nothing seems to change.
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim loanAmount As Integer = AmountBorrowedBox1.Text
[Code].....
(Value of type '1-dimensional array cannot be converted to String') Here is the code snippet:
[Code]...
i keep getting this error message ?
Public Class Form7
Dim e As Double
Dim p As Integer

I have a project that you enter someone's name, home town and initials saves it to an array which later is produce into a pie chart.
The question is: The class has one method called addCompetitor that takes String parameters to indicate a name, home town and initials, and an Integer to indicate the position in the tournament. The method creates a Competitor object and stores it in the corresponding element of the position array.
Public Class Cakes
Dim position(7) As Integer
Dim amountSold(7) As Double
Dim noOfCompetitors As Integer

How can I create a function that returns an object of a certain type, which the user of the function specify in the argument (using vb.net 2010) ?
[Code]...
The code above doesn't work, but maybe it can explain what I want to achieve. Using this feature, I want to hydrate my data transfer objects from datatable. Client will just call this function, specifying which DTO the client wants, and this function will just create that DTO and populating the properties with reflection GetType.GetProperties().
I have used the following code to read a memory address from a pointer and offset previously however, Now I've come to use it again and can't figure out how I got it working last time, I'm receiving the error "value of type '1-dimensional array of Byte' cannot be converted to integer" highlighting the BytesAtAddress variable in the ReadProcessMemory calls.
Public Shared Function ReadPointerFromMemory(ByVal BaseAddress As Integer, ByVal PointerOffset As Integer, ByVal BytesToRead As Integer, ByVal pHandle As IntPtr) As Integer
Dim BytesAtAddress As Byte() = New Byte(BytesToRead - 1) {}
[code]....
[Code] As you can see, the code in the client side calls a function in the Server that generates an array as output. And this output SHOULD be loaded into the new array that was created in the client side. The case is that it is not allowing me to do that. The blue underlined row gives me the following error: Value of type 'ClientTest.TestService.ArrayOfString' cannot be converted to '1-dimensional array of String'.
I cannot see what is wrong, the function generates the same output type as the new var that is expecting to load it. Why data cannot be 'converted'? And what would be the solution to turnaround this problem? PS: Actually my function is a bit more complex than that and evolves a DB query, etc, but I reduced its code to simplify as the problem is occurring just in the array transfer.
