Me.Controls() Collection - Control Type Can't Be Converted To The "Timer" Type

Dec 16, 2011

I am trying to make it so when I use Me.Controls("Timer1") for example I can access specific commands for a timer such as Stop() Start(), I tried CType() and typed in "Timer" as the type but it says the control type can't be converted to the "Timer" type.

Determine The Type Of Control In The Controls Collection

Oct 9, 2009

I have a small piece of code that iterates through the controls collection on a panel (below) Everything works fine until I want to focus on a control that doesn't support the selectall method i.e. a datetimepicker. Is there any way of determining the type of control and not call the selectall method when the type is datetimepicker. All my other controls support it so that's the only one I need to exclude.

Value Of Type 'Microsoft.VisualBasic.PowerPacks.RectangleShape' Cannot Be Converted 'System.Windows.Forms.Control'

Feb 1, 2012

I seemed to have have ruined my settings on VS 2010... I can't get the Shapes to work just after I had fixed the problem with the PowerPacks, and then it deleted all of my shapes I had on my form after I was tweaking the code and added another shape. And ever since, the shapes make errors and I can't change there colors. I've tried reinstalling VS 2010, and changing refferences doesn't work anymore. The title is the problem I have with trying to add a shape through the code in my project, here is the code for that:

Public Class Form1
Public Circle As New Microsoft.VisualBasic.PowerPacks.OvalShape()
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load

Collection Type Property Assignable At Design Time In User Control

Mar 8, 2012

I am creating a User Control where I have a property called Items. Items is of type LibraryPanelBarItem Collection (custom class) which contains a collection of LibraryPanelBarItem objects. I would like to be able to add these at design time by using the Collection editor that VS uses for adding things such as treenodes/listviewitems. Ideally I would also be able to declaratively add them to the html syntax. I can get the Items property to show up but I get no intellisense to add the items between the opening and closing tags. Value Of Type String Cannot Be Converted To SQLCommand

Apr 11, 2011

I'm a novice VB programmer and I am getting the above error when I try to display the results of one of my Stored Procs in SQL Server which doesn't need any parameters.

My code excerpt:
Dim SQLCmd as SQLCommand = new SQLCommand()
SQLCmd.CommandText = "Exec AllTableCount"
SQLCmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure
SQLCmd.Connection = GlobalFunctions.GlobalF.GetDevSQLServerStoredProcedure(SQLCmd.CommandType)
SQLCmd.ExecuteNonQuery()
[Code] .....

I can see this SP from VS 2008 in the Server Explorer. So the problem seems to be that I don't know how to connect a data adapter to an SP. Just a string query.

Value Of Type 'Date' Cannot Be Converted To 'System.TimeSpan'

Feb 10, 2010

I need to take 6 user entered dates and compare them to a date pulled from a database & stored in a variable. If greater than 6 weeks, then some action needs to take place.When writing the code, I get the following message (before compilation). Value of type 'Date' cannot be converted to 'System.TimeSpan'. [code] Within my code the 'dt' in the line above is underlined with the error message appearing on mouseover. I have tried using CType, as in dt = CType(Session("dt_occurence"), DateTime) in the hopes that might work, but it doesn't do it.

Value Of Type -1 Dimensional Array Of Double Cannot Be Converted

May 6, 2012

I think I am missing something really simple. I want the user to be able to select a particular interest rate and term from radio buttons (in separate groups), the values for the buttons are to be stored in an array. Then they click the calculate button and it does it's magic and pops the result in to another field. I think I have things set up roughly the way it needs to. What I'm running in to right now is the term variable in the calculation formula is coming up with a blue underline stating that "value of type -1 dimensional array of double cannot be converted to a double". So as a result nothing is working right. I don't know where exactly I've gone wrong. If I change the data types nothing seems to change.

Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim loanAmount As Integer = AmountBorrowedBox1.Text

I have a project that you enter someone's name, home town and initials saves it to an array which later is produce into a pie chart.

The question is: The class has one method called addCompetitor that takes String parameters to indicate a name, home town and initials, and an Integer to indicate the position in the tournament. The method creates a Competitor object and stores it in the corresponding element of the position array.

Public Class Cakes

Error: Value Of Type Cannot Be Converted To 1 Dimensional Array Of String

Sep 29, 2008

[Code] As you can see, the code in the client side calls a function in the Server that generates an array as output. And this output SHOULD be loaded into the new array that was created in the client side. The case is that it is not allowing me to do that. The blue underlined row gives me the following error: Value of type 'ClientTest.TestService.ArrayOfString' cannot be converted to '1-dimensional array of String'.

I cannot see what is wrong, the function generates the same output type as the new var that is expecting to load it. Why data cannot be 'converted'? And what would be the solution to turnaround this problem? PS: Actually my function is a bit more complex than that and evolves a DB query, etc, but I reduced its code to simplify as the problem is occurring just in the array transfer.
