How to write a code in vb.net by getting datagrid row values.
I am making a program that uses the datagridview control for making the sales invoice and I want to add direct values from textbox control to datagridview. But the problem is I am not getting the row, col index properly and if I use:
dgv.item(0,dgv.rowcount -1).value=textbox1.text
Then the value goes to the 1st col and 1st row. When I use dgv.rows.add() then value goes down to last row of the dgv control.
i used a split container, in the 1st panel, i put the textbox for the user to input the values. In the 2nd panel, i put the datagridview to output the values that the user inputted. Now, i don't know and i cannot find way how to print the values into the datagridview from the textbox.

View 5 RepliesLooking at the new VB 2010 features, I stumbled upon support for Auto-Implemented Properties.Since I'm working with C#, this seemed quite familiar, but I noticed that VB did add a feature I would love to have in C#: setting a arbitrary default value for the auto-implemented property:I really like the clean usage of auto-properties in C#. This would save us the effort of introducing a backing field and hooking it up to the property everytime we simply need a default value, thereby cluttering up the code unnecessarily.I was wondering why this wasn't introduced in C# as well? What could be the rationale for not doing this? Is a syntax discussion going on, or are there technical limitations to implementing this?

View 2 RepliesOk so i have made a complete food ordering system for the place i work. It works fine, i can add the ordered things and print them on a thermo printer located in the kitchen.Everyone at my work is really pleased with the solution but there is just one problem left.
The thermo printer is a receipt printer which can print 32 characters on each line and this is more than enough for all the food and beverages but i have a free textfield where waiters can enter a text of their own if the order form cannot cover.
This field does automatic LFCR in the box but this is apparantly only in the box because if is type something longer than 32 characters it wraps nicely in the textbox but is sent as one long string when printing.
Is it possible to have a textbox perform automatic "vbNewLine" every 32 characters it encounters. I know that this might cut words in half and if this can also be avoided then fine but if not i would rather have words cut in the wrong places than text completely missing.
I have a datagrid and have added in some row headers:
[Code]...
However the row header width is very small and you cant read the header without adjusting it. What is the formatting command to automatically size the header to fit the text?
I just want to make an automatic format in the textbox, this is only to set 4 number with 2 decimal in the textbox, when the user enter any number in the textbox, it will be the number format - 4 number with 2 decimal automatically.
View 1 RepliesI have 2 issues- first if i use LINQ query as datasource with datagridview then how I can Find a row in datagridview and also how to enable automatic sorting through headers of datagridview if i am using LINQ.

I bound datagridview to bindingsource. The bindingsource has its datasource a collection Called Rates which is a collection of Rate items. The rate object has a property called VALUE. I need the user to be able to edit different values for the collection; However, on the datagridview, i need to keep displaying on one column called OldValue the existing Rate value before the change while allowing the user to edit that value in a second column called NewValue.
In other terms, One colum OldValue will keep the existing values from the DB before being edited by the user, this column OldValue is readonly. Another column NewValue will display, the 1st time, the old value from the DB (similar to OldValue when we do the Fetch from the DB), but it`s editable column, so the user can modify each value in the column NewValue without overriding OldValue cells. For now, I bound both columns OldValue and NewValue to the same property VALUE of the Rate object,

To filter a DataGridview, I have created a combo box filled with data from a field of the same datasource(and obviously set its "AutoCompleteMode" to "SuggestAppend" and "AutoCompleteSource" to "Customsource").This is the code, and it works:

I'm using a pattern of buttons verticle, & horizonal, to produce a 2 dimensional matrix (6 deep, 25 wide .) The sequence is repeating, but offset from horizonal line to line. the values are 1 thru 12. there are corresponding files in the "My.resources." file carrying names related to the buttons. If the "my. Resources" filename is say.., "1,3,4,6,8,9,11,12 " & the buttons pushed have produduced the string "1","4","6" then the prestated file carries all these values, and therefore should be selected. All integers of the textbox list must be present in a "my.resources" file to show the file. There will be multiple files in the resource file that will fit. (My ultimate intention is to show all files that fit, somehow. I'll have to, eventually. I'm still writing this, and changing it constantly. )the question is, "How do I get the computer to link the textbox integers to the resources files? Textbox = "1", "4", "6" to My.Resources.1,3,4,6,8,9,11,12

I am using VS2008 and I have a form which has a datagridview. This is for an invoice where I already have the user select the customer from a details view and want to have the items in the datagridview change based on what the customer selected. Then when the item is selected I want to have the price change accordingly.
So far I have the customer selction as well as the item combobox(not limited to cust items yet) appear, but I cannot figure out how to get the join of the 2 items (cust+item as the price varies from cust to cust) to change the price. Question is, is it possible to do this in the same datagridview, or should i try to just break this down some other way?
I have created a textbox array based on the number of 'Channels' on another form. This number dictates how many textboxes (and other controls) to add to my new form.
I expect the user to type in their 'type' of channel into each textbox.
The thing I am having problems with is once the user types in the information, how do I access the data and store it for a future form?
Here is my code (once again excuse my programming skills):
Public Class Fixture1Setting
Dim labels As New List(Of Label)
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click

I am building VB.NET application that takes data from text files that are exported from a legacy DOS program. These are written to a datatable and displayed in a datagridview. Right now my code simply loops through the datagridview and inserts the data into the database (SQL Server). There is a requirement now that the client number must be checked before the insert to see if it exists in the database. If it does, then the value of one field (tax rate) is checked against the value of the field in the datagridview. If there is a difference, then the rate is to be updated in the database and the data that was in the database is to be written to a history table for audit purposes. If the client number is not there, then we are to do the insert (which is already written). I want to know what is the most elegant and efficient solution for this problem.
I need to compare what is in the database table with what is in the datagridview, update the history table for records that exist, and then insert new records.
I want to sum the values in the columns of the datagridview when I click the button in WinForms.
