I have 2 issues- first if i use LINQ query as datasource with datagridview then how I can Find a row in datagridview and also how to enable automatic sorting through headers of datagridview if i am using LINQ.

I am trying to get a checkbox to activate and deactivate a button. While the button is deactivated it is dimmed or faded out. While Actvated the Text and button is fully visable. I did use ctype to activate the button from the checkbox.

how to add the row headers to the Datagridview? We can normally add Column headers from the Properties. But there is no option for Row headers. Can we add them through the IDE? Or we need to do it dynamically?

Basically the users want to know how many rows they have posted, so they can stop at a certain number.So I have done several web searches all giving the solution I came to on my own, but still nothing is showing! it's almost like there is a property I need to set to show text in the row header, otherwise it's somehow disabled or not visible, but I am not sure what!!!

If I modify/add/delete anything the rowheaders pop up. then when I sort by clicking on a columnheader the rowheaders become blank again. all these actions (load/add/modify/sort) go through the same refresh function. I want to prevent users from selecting the header items. I managed to revert back to the previously selected item if user selects the header item. Problem with this approach is drop down collapses and then reverts back to previously selected item. Is there a way to check, if the item being selected is a header item and if it is a header item, do not collapse the dropdown. Basically I want to implement behavior of HTML select list with optgroup.

DataGridView inserting an extra row every time I populate with data. The row appears even if I only fill the column headers. This is causing problems when I try to get values of each cell. Is there a way to avoid this perhaps in properties?

I'm new to VB 2008 and was wondering how to apply 2 toned back color to my datagridview column headers or listviews. Where the color is lighter at the top of the column header and then becomes darker towards the bottom of the column header. It seems most apps use them these days.

I am trying to set, at Design time, the ColumnHeadersDefaultCellstyle Font of the grid, defining the Font, the size and the style (Bold). After saving the project or running it, The Font properties of the grid headers are changed to the Font properties of the containing
GroupBox.
Why is that so? How can I set, at Design Time, a different font for the Grid Column headers and the GroupBox?

I have two columns in a datagridview, one is a year and the other is a month. These two form a date, but unfortunately the structure in the database I'm forced to use is that of two integers. I need to sort the rows by date, using these two integers. I tried creating an unbound column with a date, but sorting this way seem quite difficult. I have a DataGridView that is being populated via SQL with one table and is being filtered by Stock Code. I need to sort the view of one Stock Code by Nutrient names, but the sequence number is in anther SQL table. it would be easy if i could put the sequence in one table but that's not possible
View 2 RepliesI have a datagridview that is bound to a dataview. I use a textbox to sort the list of data in the datagridview. Once the list is sorted I want to click on a row to populate the textboxes in order to update the data. Problem is once I sort the data I click on say row 3 and it pulls up the orginal data before the data was sorted in the datagrid view. For instance:
Before Sort:
1. betsy
2. james
3. john
After sort:
1. john
2. james
3. betsy
If I double click row 1 it will pull betsy info into my textboxes instead of john. I currently refresh my datagridview after every letter is entered into my textbox. I also reload my dataview and rebind the dataview with the datagridview.
