Row Headers Of Datagridview Are Empty On Formload

Apr 6, 2009

I use a datagridview where the rowheaders frustratingly stay blank after I load the form. If I modify/add/delete anything the rowheaders pop up. then when I sort by clicking on a columnheader the rowheaders become blank again. all these actions (load/add/modify/sort) go through the same refresh function. I can't seem to figure out why the rowheaders sporadically show up. they should stay visible all the time. btw, datagridview.refresh() doesn't work

FormLoad - Cannot Delete Row From DataGridView

Mar 31, 2009

I am using VB 2008 .net3.5. I have a form with a datagridview. The datasource of the dgv is a BindingSource. The datasource of the binding source is an object and the datamember of the binding source is a List(Of T) from that object. On formload, I create a new object with new and give the list some values and Set the datasource of the binding source to the list. The dgv loads the data but I can't delete a row. The AllowUserToDeleteRows is set to true. I select a row and nothing happens. Just to be sure I went back and did the EXACT SAME PROGRAM with C# .net2.0 and of course the dgv allows me to delete a row.

Put Text DataGridView Row Headers?

Jul 24, 2009

I want to number the rows in my datagridview. Basically the users want to know how many rows they have posted, so they can stop at a certain number. So I have done several web searches all giving the solution I came to on my own, but still nothing is showing! it's almost like there is a property I need to set to show text in the row header, otherwise it's somehow disabled or not visible, but I am not sure what!!!

Custom ComBobox With Headers - Prevent Selection Of Headers?

Dec 15, 2009

I am working on a windows application using VB.net 2.0 and want to create a custom ComboboxControl which displays multiple groups. I was able to display the items in Custom combobox with headers. Below is the sample.

Header 1
Item 1_1
Item 1_2

[code]....

I want to prevent users from selecting the header items. I managed to revert back to the previously selected item if user selects the header item. Problem with this approach is drop down collapses and then reverts back to previously selected item. Is there a way to check, if the item being selected is a header item and if it is a header item, do not collapse the dropdown. Basically I want to implement behavior of HTML select list with optgroup.

1_1 1_2 1_3 2_1 2_2 2_3

DataGridView - Convert Nulls To Empty Strings And Display It In The Grid As Empty Strings

May 14, 2009

I have a DataGridView that has some columns with dates. It binds to an in-memory Datatable which gets loaded from an string array of data passed back from the backend Some of the rows returned have nulls for the date columns. Solution 1: If I define the Date column in the DataTable as "string" I can easily convert those nulls to empty strings and display it in the grid as empty strings (desired results). However, if the user clicks on the date column header to sort by date, it doesn't order the rows as you want. You get a purely string sort order. Not acceptable

Definig DataGridView Column Headers Font Style At Design Time

Jul 11, 2010

I am developing a project using VB2010. In the attached example I created a Form.

On tha form I put a GroupBox Containing a DataGridView.

I am trying to set, at Design time, the ColumnHeadersDefaultCellstyle Font of the grid, defining the Font, the size and the style (Bold). After saving the project or running it, The Font properties of the grid headers are changed to the Font properties of the containing

GroupBox.

Why is that so? How can I set, at Design Time, a different font for the Grid Column headers and the GroupBox?

To demostrate the problm - Try to modify the Font of the grid headers, in the attached example,

to "Bold" "Size 12", Run the application and see the result.

DataGridView - Nonvisible Rows Are Still Visible And The DataGridView Is Empty Despite Having A DataSource

Jul 30, 2009

I have several problems with rows in a DataGridView. Background information: The DataGridView (DataGridViewCalib) is in one TabPage of a TabControl, some columns of the DataGridView are automatically DataGridViewCheckBoxColumn as the DataSource have some colums which are Boolean. This is a Windows Form written in VB.Net with Visual Studio 2008. The user loads an input data file.

The problems:

1) At first arrival in the TabPage, ShowDataGridViewCalib (code below) is called. All rows are then shown in the DataGridView, despite the code saying that some rows should not be visible. Breakpoints in the code show that the code do arrive at the Rows.Visible = False events. Despite all rows beeing shown a Watch in the debugger shows that:

[code]...

There are two alternative ways of handling the rows in the code. The first attempt (commented away here) is probably the "nicest".

FormLoad Is Not Running

Mar 24, 2011

I am having, and it may be related to another issue i am having, but im not sure.I have a form that all of a sudden stopped executing the formload event.i checked the initialize component method, stepped through it, and it runs fine.the formload has the handles clause on it. i put a breakpoint on formload and it does not stop on the sub header. so could it be part of this issue?::: every once in a while, the code parser breaks, and reads partial lines of code (designer generated code at that)...so an error that pops up is Error in line "clearBeforeFi" not recognized....in dataset designer code, it is reading half the line, seeing it as the whole line, and i get a thousand errors. I restart the IDE, and that is fine again.....

however, this formload thing does NOT want to go away.it shows the form, runs the initialize code, so it shows the form fine, but executes nothing.[code]...

Cannot 'empty' A DataTable And Corresponding Datagridview

Jun 22, 2009

I have a datatable dimensioned as new.I add the columns that I need (during the form's load) I have a datagridview as on object on my form and set the datatable as its source.The table is loaded with values and they display properly.The User closes the form and returns to the 'Main' form. At this point no problems, everything is working great. NOW...The user re-opens the form containing the datagridview It has the values from the previous time it was open, plus the new values ! I have tried several things so when the user goes back into the form it only has the new values, but it always keeps the previous values and appends the new values to it. I have attempted to clear it by adding a line: datatable.rows.clear(); I have activily gone through the datagridview one row at a time and use a statement to clear the cells;

For Each DGVRow As DataGridViewRow In Me.DataGridViewErrorList.Rows
DGVRow.Cells.Clear()
Next

so far no luck.
