I don't have code yet I was looking for an example to start from. This dialog box I am entering my data into has exactly what I want. I just want to be able to call the image in from my code when I want.....
View 1 RepliesI am making an operating system based game in visual basic. The real problem is that the game runs full screen and when it comes to desktop backgrounds I am having heaps of problems.First I had the desktop as just the forms background image but I needed to add icons to the desktop so I anchered a listveiw onto the background and the problem is that the listview is not transparent and you can't see the desktop background.
I thought that I could fix that problem by setting the background image on the listveiw as the background image but the problem is when i set a background image on the listveiw there is no option to stetch the image. The only option is to tile the background image.
How can I get the listveiw either transparent or set it a stretched background. ( the user gets to choose a desktop background so they all need to be able to stretch to the full desktop of the user's screen resolution.)
In my project, I have a form with a background pic that I like, but unfortunately, I also have a ListView on that form which covers most of the picture. Now, is there a way to find the part of the background image concealed by the ListView, and then display it as a background image of the ListView at decreased opacity? You know, like a vague image.Just one more thing, setting the form's transparency key to the background color of the ListView is not an option.

I have a listview control. it has an imagelist attached to it with two images in it. I have entered items into my listview, and they are using the first image in my imagelist.... GREAT! Now, there is a variable I have that will tell me which index in the listview is currently active, noting to do with what I select that could be at another index it's just what's being processed by the program at the time in some task.
Create a function that will change the images of all my listview items by looping through them. If the index variable is set to 2, I want the 3rd item in my list view set to use the 2nd image in my imagelist. The rest of the items in my listview need to be set to the first image in the imagelist.
I can't remember exactly if this is possible or not but what I am attempting I would think should theoretically be possible. I know it is possible in WPF but the company I am working for doesn't want to make the transition just yet. Basically what I want is to use a background image on a form for the background and I have a docked control on the right and left. I have set the background on both of these docked controls to transparent however it is showing the back color rather than the background image. I tried, rather than setting the background image property, to override the onpaintbackground and onpaint events and use e.graphics.draw(picture, me.clientrectangle) but it still seems to just pick up the backcolor as the true transparent background so I'm wondering if it's possible to get it to show the background image through the control rather than the backcolor of the form?

I still am using this code, however, I changed the window size to work better and gave it a nicer background for the title screen of my project. Now what I am working on at the moment is making a settings form that has 2 labels. One for "Default" Layout and one for "Plain" layout. When default is at start, the default label is disabled,and when plain layout is clicked, the button is disabled and default button is enabled.Basically, this is a toggle switch for default or plain where if one is enabled, the option for it is disabled and the other is enabled.My problem is that when I switch from Plain back to default, the background Image will not switch back from the plain background color of "control"Here is my code:

Anyone please help me this problem. I am creating a program that will view all the employee list in a listview control. Now every employee has the property of whether "active" or "inactive". What I want is to change the full row background color of "inactive" employee to red. I tried to do some forum suggestions but it didn't work.
View 1 RepliesDoes anyone know if it is possible to resize an imagelist/listview image without repopulating the image list? I am using scroll bar to change the image size from 25 point to 256 point. When I leave the scroll bar the imagelist repopulates from the files list. This can be very slow when working with high resolution pictures. I don't want to limit the image size to 2 sizes by using large and small imagelist.

ive developed my app and am im trying to improve its use ability. Ive created a dvd management app for myself and i have a function that retrieves all the data for all the movies displayed in my listview. It works fine but the interface hangs for the entire time.Ive decided to use a background worker so i can browse other movies with all the data is being fetched.Im having silly problems with getting the index value for my listview when im using the .DoWork()

I'm kind of stuck on this one, and i know it's going to be something simple, but I just can't come up with the solution. I want to be able to assign a background color for each item in a listview with a predefined string or other variable type, so when item's are added to the listview and they contain a specific string, the background color for that item will be changed to the predefined color which is stored in a string (or other variable). When I attempt to change the background color of the listview item using a string ie. "Blue" I get an error.[code]....

The reason I want to do this is because I'm attempting to make a custom border (one that isn't exactly square).I can already get the form to be transparent, then I set my custom background image, which all works perfect, it even detects when the mouse enters the image, which is great. (I use transparency key to make the form transparent)
The problem is, if I add ANY control, or even if I just save the file, NOTHING else, the whole thing has a spaz attack.. Instead of having the image with the transparent form, the square form appears every time I run the app.
I have inserted PNG image (transparent background) but it can't go to transparent. I want it to be front of other label but it's gray background hide the text what i have to do with this?
