2008 : Listview With Image List - Change The Image In The Listview Dynamically?

Jan 15, 2010

I have a listview control. it has an imagelist attached to it with two images in it. I have entered items into my listview, and they are using the first image in my imagelist.... GREAT! Now, there is a variable I have that will tell me which index in the listview is currently active, noting to do with what I select that could be at another index it's just what's being processed by the program at the time in some task.

Create a function that will change the images of all my listview items by looping through them. If the index variable is set to 2, I want the 3rd item in my list view set to use the 2nd image in my imagelist. The rest of the items in my listview need to be set to the first image in the imagelist.

Interface And Graphics :: Make A Thumbnail From An Image?

Jul 11, 2004

I am trying to incorporate in my vbdotnet application a form in which I would like to make a thumbnail from an image. So what I have is two picture boxes, one with the source image and the other with the destination image, I would like to crop the image from picture box 1 and display it on picture box 2, but the way I wan to crop it is not giving the coordinates of the selected area box but to simulate a selection area box in which the mouse can move the box and select the area of the picture to be cropped. This selection area box would give me the coordinates i need in order to proceed the cropping. The problem is I don't know how to create this selection area box. It is like doing the cropping on a graphic design software like Macromedia Fireworks, Adobe photoshop, even paint.

Resize An Imagelist/listview Image Without Repopulating The Image List?

May 17, 2009

Does anyone know if it is possible to resize an imagelist/listview image without repopulating the image list? I am using scroll bar to change the image size from 25 point to 256 point. When I leave the scroll bar the imagelist repopulates from the files list. This can be very slow when working with high resolution pictures. I don't want to limit the image size to 2 sizes by using large and small imagelist.

Win7: Taskbar Thumbnail Image Background Transparency

Mar 7, 2012

I've been playing around with Windows 7 taskbar thumbnail previews. I've noticed that some Microsoft applications are able to set thumbnail images which have transparency in background. I've been trying all out and not been able to achieve this.

I've set a picturebox control having PNG with transparency as thumbnail preview, doesnt work. I tried creating a new bitmap and loading from Icon file having transparency and setting it as preview but still doesn't work. It keeps showing the background color of the form window.

This is what Microsoft apps are able to acheive:

VS 2008 Image Display?

I am doing a project wherein I have to display an image in system memory (in a buffer of size: column*row) onto a form or say a picture box. If so how to do this?

VS 2008 Display Image In A Datarepeater?

Feb 5, 2010

I have a database object and one of the items is an image which is stored on the net. i wish to display this image in a datarepeater. I have the data repeater setup correctly and the item in question is a picturebox. here is a basic idea of what i am trying to accomplish

For Each itm In joblist
Dim j As New Job
j.ID = CInt(itm.ID.Value)

[Code].....

Well i ran this and it doesn't display anything on the datarepeater. I believe this is because the image hadn't been placed on the control before i take it off, but i would have expected that it would be there for other items in the list but it isn't. I then got thinking i should put this onto an imagelist so i dropped an imagelist onto the form and realised i still would have the same issue as i'd be placing an empty image onto the image list and would have the problem of taking it off so abandoned the idea.

Now, is there a way to find the part of the background image concealed by the ListView, and then display it as a background image of the ListView at decreased opacity? You know, like a vague image.Just one more thing, setting the form's transparency key to the background color of the ListView is not an option.

VS 2008 - VB BITBLT Equivlant - Build Image By Opening Files With Image Data

Nov 2, 2010

In VB6 you could BITBLT things around before refreshing the screen. In .NET, I'm aware of DrawImage, but that can only be done on a paint event rather than before anything gets painted. The issue I have is, I need to open several files with image data in them and then build a bigger image with those smaller images. Before I could open them, BITBLT them to a Buffer. As far as I can tell .NET offers no way to do this as the only function I've been able to find (DrawImage) only works within the paint event. Is there still a way to do this in VS08 or no?

VS 2008 - Image Transparency - Loading A Bunch Of Pictures On Top Of One Image

Oct 14, 2009

Ive been programming in VB6 for years, i figured its time for an upgrade. Here's what im doing, and what the problem is:

Im loading a bunch of pictures on top of one image. They are all PNG files, and some of the images have transparent edges, and some semi-transparency within the image itself.

So basically, i need to be able to load these images on top of the other images, and still maintain the transparency.

Is this possible in VB08? This is one of the main reasons i moved to 08 from vb6, more things possible including multithreading.
