View 1 Repliestrying to create a WPF application that will allow users to print a barcode label written in ZPL that is saved to a text file on the C: drive. I am able to print the barcode with the WPF Application except it prints the same serial # without incrementing to the next one. I would like have the application:Open the test.txt file and read the last serial # that was printed. Print the next serial #. Write the last serial # it printed to the file for the next it is printed so that if I printed 1,2,3 this time, the next time it would print 4,5,6. Below is my code for the test.txt file and my VB.net code.

The printing process doesn't look pretty, but I was unable to get it to print with PrintDocument.Print() and I could by using a Process. I am guessing the issue is with intSN declaration not appending the serial # back to the test.txt file, instead, it adds
the barcode back to the file.

Grier's Enhanced Serial Port dll to read input from a serial port barcode scanner I notice that the datareceived event fires only once per barcode scan, but the delegate sub fires twice per barcode scan. Once for 1st half of Barcode , 2nd for 2nd part of barcode This makes it hard to capture the full barcode so it can be passed to routines in my vb.net 2008 windows application In Richard's example 'Test Enhanced Port' program he sends it to a textbox using .selectedtext and it works fine Richards Delegate code ......................

The default true type fonts make printing very slower.
I tried to use "Draft 10 cpi" font which come to available me after i installed a correct driver for my Epson printer. which also helped me overcome this problem. however it wont be the scenario with all my clients i.e. they might have different printers having different Make with different drivers installed. i have tried to open such project on there PC but the printing wont come in Draft instead the fonts get expanded too much & the print wont come right.
I basically have an application that generates reports in a .html file, I use a .html file for the ease of making tables and formatting text.Now I would like to introduce a way of printing the reports from my program. Because I use a .html file, the formatting would not the correct if I was to print it directly from my application (as far as I know). For this reason, I would like to print it just like my web browser would have in order to keep the tabular data intact and the text formatting.
View 1 RepliesI'm creating an application which has an scheduler to print and it checks if there is a pending job on the print queue before it prints the next file. I use a timer which checks if there is any file to be printed on my database. Example, the timer ticks and selected 10 files to be printed, it should print the 10 files 1 at a time, if there's no print queue, that's the only time the next file should print. I think another timer is required which will keeps on checking if print queue is done. How will i do this?

When I print the output to a PDF file using PDFCreator, it stacks all of the letters onto each other rather than creating new lines at the places I've specified. I've also tried using vbNewLine instead of vbCrLf, but I haven't had any luck. I searched the web for this but couldn't find anything about it.
What resources I need to look for, to generate one png image out of three? Since there are sprite generators out there, that do not do what I want, I wanted to try by myself. The user interface should not be the problem, but i have no experience of generating bitmaps, especially those with transparent backgrounds. I will do that in .net. Letīs say I have 6 png files. View 2 RepliesI'm working with some very large files residing on P2 (Panasonic) cards. Part of the process we employ is to first generate a checksum of the file we are going to copy, then copy the file, then run a checksum on the file to confirm that it copied OK. The problem is, is that files are large (70 GB+) and take a long time to complete. It's an issue since we will eventually be dealing with thousands of these files.
I would like to find a faster way to generate the checksum other than using the System.Security.Cryptography.MD5CryptoServiceProvider I don't care if this means using a specialized hardware card, provided it works and is not to ungodly expensive. I would prefer to have a method of encoding that provided some feedback as to how far the process has gone along so I can display it like I do now.
The application is written in vb.net. I would prefer to be able to use it as component, library, reference within my application, but I'm willing to call an outside application if there is enough improvement in the speed of generating the checksum.
Needless to say, the checksum must be consistent and correct.

i just don't like the gap that exists between the .net framework and SQL database. I've explored everything from EF to LINQ to raw sql command strings.Does anyone know a project acting like a generic editor for a database? Meaning adding tables and relationships and constraints at runtime and offering simple field validation based on the information generated by the database schema. I know you can always drag and drop fields from a datatable to a form and a wizard will give you basic navigation over it, but I was wondering, is there more to it?

As of right now all it can do is display a new form.For example: each time I press the menu button, the new child form(Form1) is created. Now, if I press that same menu button a second or subsequent time a new Form1 is created and it appears over the previous one.
What I would like is that each time the event handler is triggered (a menu item_click on the parent form) that instead of a completely "new" child form being produced(a new window popping up) it would instead pull up the appropriate child form that is attached to the trigger.

Because that 2005 version is using .Net framework 1 or 2. Very old... now I'm using version 3 & 4.
