Bind Specific Rows Of Datagridview?

Feb 24, 2009

know it is possible to have bounded and unbounded columns in a datagridview. Is it also possible to have bounded and unbounded rows?I knows its unorthodox, but I want to have two rows in my datagrid per item in my object list One row is bounded to the properties of each item; below that I want an unboundedrow of checkboxes for each property But since when binding the datagridview sets the rowcount equal to the list count, I'm not sure its possible.

Bind Data From Database To A Specific DatagridView Column Name ?

Feb 24, 2012

I would like to bind different queries for a long set of columns in datagridview that has been set already during the formload, e.g:

With dgvGrid

.Columns(0).Name = "Dept Code"
.Columns(1).Name = "Emp ID"[code]....

there are still more of it. The data needed for those columns is coming from a different table.

Accessing Specific Rows And Information From The Rows Using VB In An Access DB

Mar 23, 2010

Public Shared Function isMatch(ByVal username As String) As Integer
For i As Integer = 0 To table.length - 1
Dim cellValue As String = table.getRow(i).getCell("Alias")

[Code].....

I have the code listed above as a translation from a Java snippet. The problem i have is that in Java, my table was stored as a dataset and as such, the methods were easily identifiable by "getRow" and getCell" using specific numbers and column names. However in VB the information is stored in an MS Access database (which i already have an open connection to, called: "_SalesPerformance_AnalyticsToolDatabaseDataSet12") and as such i do not know the correct way in which to iterate through each row in the database, checking a specific column against an already specified variable and then returning an integer based upon the value of a seperate column in the same row.

Bind TCP Server To Specific Adapter?

Jan 6, 2010

How can I specify which adaptor to begin listening on?

I have an application running on a PC which happens to have 2 network adaptors running on different subnets (one network for Business LAN infrastructure, one for TCP cameras)

I have a class which opens up a TCP server and listens on a specific port for connections coming in from clients on the LAN.

The problem is that my TCP server class initialises and begins listening on the adaptor which is connected to the cameras. Any connection request coming in from the Business LAN fails, it is not dealt with.

The question is, How can I specify which adaptor to begin listening on?

Code excerpt below (this is not the full class, just key methods)

Public Sub New(ByVal Name As String)
'get config
_bootStrap = New TCPServerBootstrap(Name)

VS 2008 (DataGridView) :: Delete Successful Inserts Of Rows And Move Rows Up?

How would i delete only the successful inserted rows for insert and then move the non successful rows up and allow the user to correct the data and get it ready for an insert. If i dont delete the successful rows then i will have multiple inserts of the same dataRow and we dont want that! AND if i dont move the data up then it will have blank rows uptop and will end the try and not insert the corrected data. You can better see what logic i am trying to perform at the bottom of my code, right after I insert into the database. Here is my code.

DataGridView To Bind Or Not To Bind?

Sep 2, 2010

I'm currently developing an application with a reasonably complex DataGridView that allows the user to build the lines of a sales document: Quantitiy, Description, Price, etc with some additional fields to help calculate price based on cost or discount i'm sure you get the jist - all this means we're not just diplaying data but adding and manipulating it - It also means there's mainly decimal fields, nit just simple text fields

Now, i'm new to VB.net, so i've perhaps done things a bit backwards during my learning curve, namely designing and coding my DGV before creating the underlying database table and binding to it - so as i'm sure you can image there's a bit recoding to do to allow for the fact that it's now bound to a datasource.

I'd got the DGV working just how a wanted it to, but now that i've bound it to a datasource i'm hiting multiple problems with: Formating the appearance of figures in the DGV Problems with blank fields while enering data (before the i try to save the data back to the database) How the DGV is functioning - it seems to behave differently when adding lines to a new sales document than it does when adding lines to an existing sales document

And given that when saving edits to an existing line i need to provide a valid update command i'm begining to think that it might be easier to scrap the databinding altogether and just Select, Add and Edit the database with code rather than binding the DGV in the IDE

I've read various threads about avoiding databinding due to it's limitations, but i've also read that it's far better in later versions of Visual Studio and .net. and i'm using VS2010

I'd just like some advise as to whether my gut feeling is right or whether i should persevere with databinding the DGV. i've noticed some quirks of databinding while working with other controls such as text and combo boxes, but i've overcome these and the result seems to be easier than coding the data transfer manually.

But i'm really struggling with databinding the DGV and the fact that i'm dtatbinding to a seperate table to the rest of the controls is leaning me away from databinding

Can anyone tell me why "Rows cannot be programmatically added to the DataGridView's rows collection when the control is data-bound." I keep getting an error "Invalid Operation Exception was Unhandled" error. All I am attempting to do is allow the user to select products from a list(or a second datagridview) and have it added to the datagridview so they do not have to type in every cell since the other cells are not visible because they do not purtain to their needs. Plus they will be able to save all items at the same time.

Save Datagridview Rows As New Rows?

Apr 26, 2012

It was even difficult coming up with a Question title for this.

Am not sure whether am using the right approach to my problem. See i have this datagridview that contains rows that i would like have saved back into the Database as new rows but with a column altered to a new value.

Eg

PKColumn1 FKColumn2
Column3 Column4
1 1

[Code].....

What am looking at is Change FKColumn2 (some foreign key, maybe i can also have a combo box somewhere on the form and an "import to") values to something like 2 and save the rows back to the database without loosing the original rows.

Get Specific Data From Multiple Rows?

Aug 31, 2010

get specific data from below case?. As it is imported from text file, all row data located at A column per Row and total number of rows are more than 30000. From below, I want to get Company name and Address data only out of long text data.

For your understanding, a)Each row start with 6digits number like 3336041, 3336058 etc and end with pin code 6digits. b) there are minimum 4 or more digit's space after company name and each address data.

Result should be got <company name> and <Address field> data only.

for example 1st block should have below format;

PROCON INSTRUMENTATION PRIVATE LTD

244, G S T ROAD, URAPAKKAM,GUDUVANCHERY TAMILNADU, TAMIL NADU Pin:603202

2nd block: to display in another lines as like above - marked as bold in sample text

3rd block: to display in another lines as like above - marked as bold in sample text

Best Way To Bind My.Settings To A Datagridview

May 17, 2011

How can we databind a datagridview to some of the My.Settings (user scoped) properties so the user can edit the values? This must be to a datagridview. I know we can bind to My.Settings in a form with textboxes and so on, but in this case we just want it as list of editable strings in a datagridview.

Of course some My.Settings entries can have different datatypes which complicates matters but generally we're only working with strings and booleans. Also, let's assume the user understands that he must enter the string "true" to set a boolean to true. No checkbox column needed. Here's what we are using (and it works), just looking for a better, leaner way: [Code]

Bind DataGridView With 2 Tables?

Mar 8, 2010

I have a datagridview who's datasource is a BindingSource. The problem that I need to resolve is that the DGV has 6 columns, 5 of which come from the same database table, while the other column comes from another database table. Is there anyway of configuring the BindingSource that will make it contain all 6 columns?

The same grid in Part 1 works in the way that when a user selects a row, textboxes and comboboxes are populated with the DGV Row of data in order for the data to be modified. When the user makes any changes, this modified data needs to update the DGV row or BindingSource. How do I associate the changed values back to the BindingSource or the DGV?
