i have invoice registration form bind to a bindingnavigator and bindingsource. when i enter data and save, the data from the total text box field and the item combobox are not saved. the combobox is bind to a datasource from item table. the value member is set to item id and the display member to item name. i checked the databinding property but it is exactly the same as others.
I have an invoice form bind to a bindingsource and bindingnavigator. I use the bindingnavigator to add and save records. But I can's save data from an item combobox and total text box. The item combobox's datasource is set from the item table. It's value member is set to item id and its display member to item name. but when i hit save, the data for the item value of the invoice table is not saved.
The total text box is also a calculated value from quantity and unit price text box. at the text_change event of both unit price and quantity text box i have this code total.text = quantity.text * unitprice.text The data from the total text box is not saved also. What could be the problem with this two fields. I checked their data binding property but it is exactly the same as the others.
In my application, I have a single table. Two of the fields in the table are COUNTY and CATNUM. Both are string.
I want to perform a FIND on both fields. I have no problem doing the search on CATNUM alone IF I set a FILTER first. Due to the size of the table, it takes a few seconds to set the filter. Once the filter is set, .FIND works quickly.
The customer has the option of setting a filter to work on one COUNTRY at a time. If they choose to do so, no problem.
If they don't have a filter set and they are using the entire table, then when the customer wants to search for a COUNTRY & CATNUM, I present a list of COUNTRIES in the table and a textbox for them to input the CATNUM.
Now I have the COUNRTY and CATNUM - how do I do the FIND? I already know that I can FILTER the table by COUNTRY then do the find but as I said before, it takes too long for the filter to be set (in my mind anyway!).
I have a bindingsource question, didn't know if anyone had run into this before, but, there are several textboxes I put on a form, the text of each textbox is bound to a field in a table from the bindingsource. Why is it when I update the tableadapter, some of the fields update and some of them don't?
Example: using the bindingsource Textbox1.Text is bound to UnitListBindingSource - UnitNumber
I am developing a Winform Program in visual basic and I am using Access Tables. I want to use a bindingsource filter to do a search on Stock descriptions. I am using this but it doesn't seem to be working
Me.StockBindingSource.Filter = "ITEMNAME LIKE '%" & SearchTextBox.Text & "%' AND [Supplier1 Price] <> 0 AND [Supplier2 Price] <> 0 AND [Supplier3 Price] <> 0"
What's happening is that I am only seeing products where all 3 suppliers have a price listed that isn't 0. (Products have a zero price when it becomes discontinued or supplier doesn't sell that product but we may have purchasing history against it so it can't be deleted). Therefore we do end up with products where all 3 suppliers have a zero cost. These are the products I don't want this search to return.
I have a database with a table that is a child to many other tables. I am using this child table as a datasource for a datagridview. I am using comboboxes to display specific fields in any parent tables, instead of the user seeing the foreign key. Everything is fine. However, I would like to filter the BindingSource based on text matches between any of the fields in the child table and the corresponding fields of the parent tables.
have a query in SQL, returns the results I expect, however when I copied this query to a bindingsource.filter call,I get "Missing Operand" errors
Me.ItemsBindingSource.Filter = String.Format("SELECT * FROM items WHERE (GETDATE()) BETWEEN (items.ItemStartDate) AND DATEADD([month], items.ItemOccurances, items.ItemStartDate)")
i have two forms and two database tables in sql. my problem is that, in one form(form1) i can save information to another form (form2) but in form2 can't able to resend data back to form1.
Am using dataAdapters and dataSet to load the data into application.
Having been thinking about this issue but doesn't solve it. i mean shall i use select query or what?
In form2, i don't want to insert new information rather all i want is to resend the loaded data from form1 back to it.
Let's say I have an edit view that is strongly-typed to a table called "MyData". The view has multiple tabs, each with several different fields from the table. For performance, the data is only loaded when the tab is viewed, so if you only edit a field on tab 1 and submit the form, the data for tab 2 will not be loaded.
The problem I'm running into is on the submit. I'm doing the typical routine of finding the existing record in the database and updating the passed values:
<AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)> _ Function Edit(ByVal data As MyData) As ActionResult Using dc = New MyDataContext
[Code].....
However, this method doesn't know which tabs were loaded, so if the tab with "desc" on it is not loaded, this method thinks the user blanked out the "desc" field, and sends NULL to the database.
How can I construct this so that only loaded fields are sent to the database, and unloaded fields are ignored?
What im trying to do is everytime i put a check in listbox1 or listbox2 the button1 or button2 in form2 will be invisible, but im having problem because if i go back to form 1 then check again form2 the changes that i made didnt save!FOR EXAMPLE i checked hide button1 then pressed APPLY! then i go to form2 i will see only button2 (yes the code works great!) but when i pressed back then go back to form2 again the code didnt work.
Heres my
FORM 1 Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click If CheckBox1.Checked = True Then
[code]....
but everytime i close the program and re-run it the changes doesnt save.
(My question is similar to this one, but the code is slightly different, and the solution doesn't work for me)I'm trying to save settings changes to the app.config:
Dim config As System.Configuration.Configuration = ConfigurationManager.OpenExeConfiguration(ConfigurationUserLevel.None) config.AppSettings.Settings("HistoryRootDirectoryPath").Value = p_historySavingPath
I wrote a program which is editing data from database. I used few tutorials (I`m beginer) and everything is working fine(I can make changes in datagrid). but when I`m trying to save changes made in dataset(e.g. save added record) I can not to that (there are no changes in my access database, but inly in datagrid)what is interesting when I delete record - changes are saved and record is deleted from db. where is my mistake? what is wrong? maybe some tips what can I improve in this small program?
I'm working on this advanced web browser with my friend, and we made a favorites feature. So, it works and all that, but, after I close the executable file, it doesn't save anything!
I don't understand what's going on here I published my project, and when I create new records and save them, everything gets saved and shows up each time I run the program.I open the database in SQL Server and none of the tables have the new data, but it still shows up when I run the program each time.
I have face problem with null value i remove the chk from null value n sql server and when i direct save anything in table it dosen't accept null value but when i save these in my form it accept null value.
I have made a text editing application and, as you might have guessed yourself, I needed to add save features. Well, what I have implemented so far is the ordinary "Save As..." feature which I made by using a common SaveFileDialog. Now it's time for the hard part. I need to add the "Save" function located in many Windows applications (Notepad etc.). This is what I'm working on at this moment but it doesn't seem to work.
I have a form that has around 4 txtboxes. Data is inserted into these boxes and then a "Save" Button is pressed. I have a GridView added to my form and want to view the entries. The issue I am having is that when I click the save button the data doesn't show up in the DataGridView until I close the application and then re open it.
I was developing my own project in the university so what i am stack is to have save button which firstly validates what the user enters the form. for instance if the user skips the text fields, i wanted to restrict the user to fill all the form and when he completes, the save must be accomplished.
Here's the code i was trying to put but i was having problem saying the windows.forms.etc is unable to convert the save as Boolean and something like that.
Dim success As Boolean Private Sub Save_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Save.Click
I'm currently refactoring an old Visual Basic DLL (VB.Net), which stores all of its data in one module called Globaldefinitions as public fields. There are about 200 fields, referenced thousands of times all around the code:
Public Module Globaldefinitons Public a As Short ... Public zz10 As Double
[Code]...
I need to change the module into a class with non-shared fields. This means, each and every of these thousands of references needs to reference the instance of that class:
globalDefinitionsInstance.a = 5
How do I go about this efficiently?
Regular expressions operating on the source fall flat. Refactoring tools like Re-Sharper or CodeRush don't seem to offer this functionality. Visual Studio 2010 cannot do it automatically either.
Class Foo ReadOnly name As String Public Sub New(name As String, dependentUpon As Foo) Me.name = name
[code]....
The output of New Bar() is:
Dependent created. Dependent upon nothing. Independent created. Dependent upon nothing.
It seems fields are initialized in the same order as they appear in the source code, which (a) leads to an unexpected result, and (b) seems a little puzzling, given that one is normally not permitted to read from uninitialized variables in .NET, yet that seems to be working fine above.I would've expected VB.NET to be smart enough to initialize referenced fields first, and only then those that reference it; i.e. I'd have liked to see this output instead:
Independent created. Dependent upon nothing. Dependent created. Dependent upon Independent.
how to get VB.NET to behave like that instead, without simply having to swap the declaration order of dependent and independent inside class Bar?
I'm trying to create a table in Word using data from a table in Access. There are four fields in the access table that I need. 3 fields are text which I can populate the Word without any issues. However the fourth field is a memo with >255 characters.I'm struggling to come up with the proper code to allow me to populate the Word field with the memo data that has more than 255 characters. The code I have so far is listed below. But when it hits the memo field, it crashes on the line I marked with **. I know it's not text, but I've tried many different field types, but nothing has worked so far.[code]...
My intent is to have the code - on a button.click event - check the Username and Password fields and return an error depending on which is wrong. Or if both are wrong, return a different error message. I've set the username as parts and the password as parts (still learning how to use external authentication). [Code]
I have several sqldatasources for my gridview. All of the columns are autogenerated. However they all have some consistent fields and I'd like to make those fields template fields so I can modify the edit template for them such as adding a drop down menu. Is this possible?
i have created a user setting named 'setmeup' as string, scope = user, value = "magical meow meow!".in my code i access it and assign it a new value like this...my.settings.setmeup = "howdy cowboy!"my.settings.save()application.restart()when the application restarts, i expect the my.settings.setmeup = "howdy cowboy!" but when i check its contents its still "magical meow meow!".but when i use application.exit() instead of application.restart() and manually restart the program, my.settings.setmeup = "howdy cowboy!" which is correct.what must i do? i want to use application.restart() because i don't want the users to double-click the icon again to start the program. i want the program to restart automatically.
experience on how to create an engine using C# (VB.NET is okay too) that is generic enough to handle most cases of MS Word text fields I need to fill with data I'm getting from a database? In short, I'm about to embark on this little Office automation excursion and I'm hoping a little bit of feedback here.
I have a table which contains a list of products for a company. They input data about how much stock they have and also the level at which they want to be reminded that they need to order new stock.
[Code]...
I want to list all the true results in a form which the user is then able to navigate through. What would be the best way to go about doing this?
I use Visual Studio 2003, VB.net, NetFramework 1.4 and Windows XP I have been using the following Code Snippet for a number of years in both Web Services and Windows Applications. However suddenly around the 29th September 2010 it has stopped sending E-Mails from both Web Services and Windows Applications. The same problem has happened not only to my own Network but on two other Networks, one using XP as its Server and the other using Server 2003. All 3 of these are using different ISPs.
