I have face problem with null value i remove the chk from null value n sql server and when i direct save anything in table it dosen't accept null value but when i save these in my form it accept null value.
View 11 RepliesI'm writing a windows forms project in Visual Studio 2008 - VB, data are stored in SQL database.- I have a date field within Datagrid that could be Null or have a date in it. I had set it to show <none> when it's Null (Null is allowed for this field). The problem that I got is when user would need to delete the date from that date cell within the grid. I'm getting an error immediately after pressing "Delete" to clear the cell value. I had put in a work around - added the code for grid DataError event and assigned DBNull.Value to that cell and user is able to type in <none> for that cell or just press save, but it won't allow to go to the next cell in the grid if you don't save or type <none>. I'm sure that there is a better way handlig situation like that. May be using different event? I wasn't able to find anything else on it.- the other issue in the datagrid - if user fills in 3 cells out of 5 for example and press save while in the 3d cell - it won't save the value in the 3d cell. I also put a work around to check for the values in specific cells before saving but the problem with it - few cells could be Null (and should be Null). I can't check every single cell value and force user to type something in it.

I have an object reference not set to an instance of object error caused by the line listView1.FocusedItem.EnsureVisible(), but the strange thing is that I have assigned the focused item property of the listview and also set the listview item to be focused by using focus method.

View 17 RepliesI am developing a s/w. I am trying to update data in table. While I save the data, it will update into table. I have a gridview which binds table data through dataset. While I update the changes it is not reflecting in the grid view.
What I will do inorder to update the changes into gridview.
I have buttons generated through code (dynamically). I have to associate an event (the same) to them. I use AddHandler button.click, AddressOf mysub.The issue is that mysub gets a string (mysub(string)), but AddressOf doesn't accept a parameter inside the routine. How can I do this? Using also an alternative to AddressOf.

I am having a problem on setting the SQL CE table column a field type. What field type does a column that only accepts only two inputs..
Example: If a table has a column named Gender..it should only accepts two types of input...like Make or Female.
I'm receiving a byte array from a network device by using the TcpClient class and as I have no idea how much data will be being sent I have to just declare a buffer that is X number of bytes long and keep reading into that until I've got all of the data. I then convert this byte array to a string using Text.Encoding.ASCII.GetString but the problem is that this gets any null bytes that were at the end of the buffer after the string and it includes them in the string. This then means when I do String.EndsWith it doesnt work as I would expect it to because there are just loads of 0 bytes at the end of the string.
Once I had realised that was what was happening (which took a long time as these null bytes are completely invisible when you are looking at the data in String form) I thought fine I'll just use Trim on the string but I've found that this doesnt make any difference at all. I thought Trim was supposed to remove any blank space from the start/end of a string, which I assumed would include empty bytes as well.
So is there any alternative I can use that will trim the empty bytes off the end or do I have to do it the 'manual' way and loop through my byte array before converting it to string and remove any null bytes? One thing that has just popped into my head as I'm typing this is to try using the Chr method and pass it 0 and combine that with Trim like so:
I'm looking for a .Net PDF Viewer tool that will accept the barcode font as well as allow the user to save, email, and print the PDF. I tried the tool by SkySof, but it doesn't handle barcodes. We're having trouble using the COM PDF control because of other stuff that needs to be installed on our servers. Our customer would prefer that the tool be under $1000. We're using Visual Studio 2008 and this is a windows application being served up by Citrix.

The controls that always have values, they are displayed correctly, but the others ones that have null values in the data source, the default null value doesn't show up. In my form I have 3 tools: combobox1, DateTimePicker1, and UpDownNumber1.I'm using ComboBox_SelectedValueChanged to display UpDownNumber1 if combobox1.value = 3 in rest conditions form will display DateTimePicker1 tool. But when I save a record I have problem. How to save value from tools DateTimePicker1 and UpDownNumber1 as Null if they not display on the form?

What im trying to do is everytime i put a check in listbox1 or listbox2 the button1 or button2 in form2 will be invisible, but im having problem because if i go back to form 1 then check again form2 the changes that i made didnt save!FOR EXAMPLE i checked hide button1 then pressed APPLY! then i go to form2 i will see only button2 (yes the code works great!) but when i pressed back then go back to form2 again the code didnt work.

View 6 Repliesi have invoice registration form bind to a bindingnavigator and bindingsource. when i enter data and save,the data from the total text box field and the item combobox are not saved. the combobox is bind to a datasource from item table. the value member is set to item id and the display member to item name. i checked the databinding property but it is exactly the same as others.
View 7 RepliesI have an invoice form bind to a bindingsource and bindingnavigator. I use the bindingnavigator to add and save records. But I can's save data from an item combobox and total text box. The item combobox's datasource is set from the item table. It's value member is set to item id and its display member to item name. but when i hit save, the data for the item value of the invoice table is not saved.
The total text box is also a calculated value from quantity and unit price text box. at the text_change event of both unit price and quantity text box i have this code total.text = quantity.text * unitprice.text The data from the total text box is not saved also. What could be the problem with this two fields. I checked their data binding property but it is exactly the same as the others.

I'm using visual studio 2010 to build my application and SQL server 2005 to store the data. I created a table adapter, dataset and binded the controls to my already made formThing is, i'm trying to insert a new record into the database and it won't work! I can fill the form with a record from the database and update it so i know its definitely connected correctly. Everytime I try to insert a new record whether its through a table adapter or manually, I just can't seem to get it to automatically save to the database.Ive put this under the save button

I wrote a program which is editing data from database. I used few tutorials (I`m beginer) and everything is working fine(I can make changes in datagrid). but when I`m trying to save changes made in dataset(e.g. save added record) I can not to that (there are no changes in my access database, but inly in datagrid)what is interesting when I delete record - changes are saved and record is deleted from db. where is my mistake? what is wrong? maybe some tips what can I improve in this small program?

I don't understand what's going on here I published my project, and when I create new records and save them, everything gets saved and shows up each time I run the program.I open the database in SQL Server and none of the tables have the new data, but it still shows up when I run the program each time.

Well, what I have implemented so far is the ordinary "Save As..." feature which I made by using a common SaveFileDialog. Now it's time for the hard part. I need to add the "Save" function located in many Windows applications (Notepad etc.). This is what I'm working on at this moment but it doesn't seem to work.

I have a stored procedure that creates temporary table to populate return table. It works perfectly fine when I execute it on SQL management studio but when I try to import this sttored procedure, it give me an error Invalid object name '#TOTAL' which #TOTAL is the temp table that is created.Does VS2010 not allow temporary tables in Stored Procedure?
