Aug 12, 2009When I put a break point to the last if clause in the sub ("If (backOrder < 0) Then", see below) it runs until the break point, if I put the break point further below, I get the following error:
Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'OrderID', table 'WHM.dbo.OrderDetails'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails. The statement has been terminated.
I've discovered first hand that it only happens when prodqty is bigger then qtyOnStock, thus executing the if clause.

Null Returned When Selecting A Node In XML Document?
Jun 9, 2009New to XML. I have a 3rd party webservice that supplies an XML document that I have to update the element values and pass back. The core issue issue is I get an NullReferenceException error when calling the node.RemoveAll() method in the code below. I'm calling the RemoveAll() method because each element has the xsi:nil attribute when it is supplied to me, and if I don't remove it before updating the element value, the XML won't validate by the webservice.The XML document supplied by the 3rd party webservice is as follows:

I've seen have used the XmlNamespaceManager, but I haven't been able to make it work. This xml document has a namespace specified for the TaskData element, and a different namespace for the RequestInfo element. I tried specifying the XmlNamespaceManager variable for each namespace, but got the same results....hovering over the nsmgr variable while in break mode reveals that the "children could not be evaluated" and that the DefaultNamespace property is an empty string.

May 30, 2009I have a program in which I am doing a sql select on two tables with an outer join. In one option of my search I need to show all items in both tables so some items in the row will come back with a null value. I am familiar with using the DefaultCellStyle.NullValue = which works great when replacing Null values with the same value.
I am in need of replacing the null value in column 0 with the value in column 10. I think I am close but have not had any luck researching this on my own. Here is what I have.
dgvInventory.Columns(0).DefaultCellStyle.NullValue = CStr(dgvInventory.Item(10, ???).Value) if I replace the ??? with any value I get that rows data but all null values become the same, what can I do to tell it to replace the current rows column 0 with the current rows column 10 if column 0 is null.

Jul 27, 2011I've data of 40 temperature sensors in a data table. I want to extract particular column from SQL from this data table, usually for this to occur One can Say write "Select value FROM table" where value is the parameter, this is ok, but it returns a value in specific row(s) of specific column whereas i want opposite. I want to my query to select particular column as argumument. I have 40 Columns.
Like: SELECT S1 FROM Table, SELECT S2 FROM Table .... but this is too hectic to write it for 40-50 sensors. Is there any way that i can replace S1-S2 in above statement as argument and provide it on runtime to select particular column?

Oct 25, 2011Is there a way to make a column unselectable? I can make the column read-only but it would be easier if it was unselectable so the user won't be confused trying to enter data into a read only cell. So if I clicked on a cell in that column or moved into that cell in that column it would jump to the next column, or not focus on the cell at all.

But when i previewed the data, it shows me all the columns of the table with Null Value and the column with primary key has -1 value. This condition raise an Exception when i link this query to a ComboBox ..

Sep 15, 2009I have a datasource linked to a table in a database.When I wnated to display this data on a form, I just dragged the datasource onto the form and it did everything for me, including the code to fill it;
Me.ProjectFileTableAdapter.Fill(Me.ProjectFileDataSet.ProjectFile)
My problem, is that this program will have multiple users, and I don't other users to be able to see each others data. So the problem with the above statement is that it fills the table with ALL the data in the datasource. The problem is that if a db Column does not allow a null value an error is thrown ("Column <ID> does not allow null values") and then the datagridview automatically removes the row. This error is raised as soon as the user leaves the cell and before the update command is issued.

I have some fields that are populated when loaded but I want to update to be null using the ADO.Net data objects. If I try and use Row("FieldName") = DBNull.Value a 0 gets written to number fields (not sure what gets written to varchar fields.) What code should be used to update fields to Null using ADO.Net dataobjects?
