For my uni project I am designing a system that allows you to book a job into an Access database. My question is, Can you use a something like a calender or a diary to check if there is a job already booked on a certain date (like a duplicate date?), and in turn if there is, show an error message to inform the user that a job can't be booked on that date?
View 6 RepliesI've got a membership system, and i have a field for the start date, which i use a DateTimePicker Calendar, where you select the date of the booking.I then have a radio button where you select membership time, the options are: Day, Month, YearWhere i'm having the problem is how would i go around populating the End Date of the membership. So if the StartDate on the DateTimePicker Calendar was 14/04/12 and the membership duration was for a month. How would i calculate the end date, with the code?

When user stores a record, I need to make sure dates don't overlap.My simple code checks date ranges within a specific record (e.g. user enters 9/16/2011 or 10/21/2011, I throw an exception.)But, on the slim chance a user gets creative (e.g. 10/14/2011 - 10/23/2011 or even 10/14/2011 to 11/16/2011), now they have circumvented my check.BTW, the user could enter 10/14/2011 to 10/23/2011 if they were editing the record that contained values 10/15/2011 - 10/22/2011.So, I'm trying to solve this riddle with a linq query. However, what I have isn't working exactly right.

I need to check my field in format ddMMyyyy(ex 12/03/1990) whether in interval of two dates that user picks from two date picker controls. Two date pickers are in custom format dd/MM. It does not matter for me if its between particular years. I need just to know if given Birthday belongs to interval taken from screen. Each datepicker gives values dd/mm/yyyy. I do not know how to check it. For example:Given date 12/03/1990 . User select two values from screen: From 01/01/1950 Upto 30/04/1949(or 1990, or 2000)
Result should be True.Because 12 march is between 01 Januar and 30 April.
In VB.NET (Not ASP.NET) what can I use for a daily calendar. I have done extensive DuckDuckGo and Google search and I have came up with no viable options.The purpose of the calendar is to create a appointment system with multiple dentists therefore appointments also can run in parallel. However having it in parallel isn't required as I may have the end-use select what dentist the appointment is for (creating a appointment, therefore got to select a date/time).The project is only a university/college project therefore having it perfect isnt a requirement (but I'd prefer it). I'd use anything, otherwise I'm going to have to use a ListView.

For example, getting the lowest date value from an array of dates:

Problem is inside TimeTaken Function, inside the For.. Until. Basically the If... Then Statement. I tried. .contains, Select Case, and a few other alternatives.
Not so long ago, I saw somewhere a solution how to check if string is date in yyyyMMdd format (i.e. if it can be converted to date if written in such format). I can't find it anymore but I think is had something to do with DateTime.TryParse method but I can't get it to work. I can get it to work if string is in dd/MM/yyyy format, but dont' know how to make it with yyyyMMdd format. View 16 RepliesI am attempting to import data in a batch from an Excel Worksheet to a Sql Server database. Everything works except for the one date field in the spreadsheet. The date returned is off by four years from the value in the spreadsheet. Example: The Excel sheet has a date 10/24/2010 14:18, but when I look at the column in my query, the date is 10/23/2006 2:18. This pattern, 4 years and 1 day earlier, is repeated for every row in the worksheet.
The Excel column comes to me as a custom type, formatted m/d/yyyy h:mm. I receive this from an outside vendor and having them change the column is not going to be my simplest solution.

I can do this on the SQL side or the code side. I have Linq at my disposal if I need it. The table doesn't need to be compiled by SQL. This will happen dynamically on a website and should be as efficient as possible.I don't want to have to iterate through each and look for breaks in contiguous days if I don't have to.

I was wondering how you can automate the top label so it automatically comes up with the date when the program is run.Plus, I need to know how to display the dates difference (how many days have elapsed between the system date and the user's chosen date) in the bottom label.
