Calling A .NET Function That Requires A .NET Type From Classic ASP?

I am trying to over come this paoblem from last 2 days But i am not able to overcome.I was able to set up the environment so that I can call .NET method (via COM) from a classic ASP page.Everything actually works as intended until when I have to call a .NET method that requires a .NET type.So I have a method named SetTable Like Below I have a function like this in .Net

and i have asp code like this:

In my ASP.NET app, I'm using classic ADO 2.8 to save some data into an Access database. (Or a Jet database, for those who insist that Access is just the front-end.) So I have a RecordSet containing some data, and I want to set the value for some fields, but first I need to know the field type. So I use the Recordset.Type property:
Dim fieldType = rs("MyField").Type
And that unexpectedly results in an error: MissingMethodException was unhandled by user code -- Error: Missing method 'instance valuetype ADODB.DataTypeEnum [MyProjectName] ADODB.Field::get_Type()' from class 'ADODB.InternalField'.
Considering that it is .NET itself that has created the .NET/COM interop assembly, any idea why?And here's the strangest thing: When the debugger stops and reports the error and takes me to the spot in my code where it happened, and it has that great feature by which you can hover the mouse over any variable etc. and it will show its value -- so I hover over the rs("MyField").Type part, and, lo and behold, it shows the correct value!So if it could evaluate it at debug-time, why did it throw an error at run-time?

I am calling the OTA API from HP Quality Centre and one of the calls requires sending a NULL. This is the actual line of code:
stepF.AddItem(NULL)
This works perfectly in VBA and VB6 but VB.NET doesn't accept Nulls. Anyone know how to fix such an issue?

When I try to call a [Java] web service from .NET, I am getting what appears to be a security credentials issue. CWWSS5509E: A security token whose type is [http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-username-token-profile-1.0#UsernameToken] is required.Is it even picking up the credentials that I am trying to pass? At this point, I just want to make contact with the web service and get access. In my example, ServiceReference1 is a generated Web proxy class.

I'm currently working with a client's VB.Net code, which was developed for them by a small development shop a few years ago and which they purchased and have been maintaining and uprgrading since. This client's primary developer is out on indefinite (likely permanent) medical leave and I'm now filling in until they bring in a full timer (as I'm a contractor here). My current task is to add some functionality to a the VB.Net code they purchased. I'm finding practices and techniques in the code that absolutely baffle me and can't make the code do what I want. I'm starting to wonder if it's me and was hoping to get some thoughts on the code I've encountered.
For example: Setting a variable to accept the result of a function by calling the function with many parameters, clearing the parameters in the function, setting them to some value, calling another function with those new values, then never using the values returned by the functions. I'll add a code snippet in the first comment since this is already getting long.

I have a function where I am performing a lot number of database operations inside a Sub. The operation when called directly like:ExecProcess()
takes about 11 seconds to run.However, if I create a Delegate, and call the sub using BeginInvoke(), the very same process takes over 40 seconds to execute.Here's the threaded code:

I have an issue with a third-party COM+ DLL meant to be used from VB6, where it has a function to set a Callback for a hardware event. However, I'm using VB.NET, and AddressOf now returns a reference type instead of an integral type, which means that the setCallback function on the COM+ DLL apparently can't be used.

I am in the processing of moving an app from VB to C# but some of the classes I will just be moving to VB dlls to access from the main C# app. In doing this I am trying to get the VB dlls to utilize the main C# class lib. In this C# lib I have an abstract clase called base process, it sets up a background worker and handles all the progress tracking, errors, and even reports an ETA. To use this in a derived class in C# you would just do this...

I have used the PInvoke Signature Toolkit to create VB.NET function definitions for three fairly simple C functions contained in an external DLL. The problem is that two of the parameters are structures so pointers need to be sent and one structure (fileview) is undefined.
OpenFileView(filename, &fileview_ptr)
ReadFileInfo(fileview_ptr, &fileinfo_ptr)
The structure of fileinfo is defined so I can create a structure definition in VB.NET and create an IntPtr to that structure with Marshall.AllocHGlobal. And then I can use Marshall.StructureToPtr to copy the data and do the inverse when the data is returned.

I'm having some problems calling a C function from a DLL. The function is returning -101 which translates as a "bad parameter". The values I am passing have been returned from another, successful function call, so my current assumption is that I've built the structure incorrectly.The function definition is:

in a DLL that takes a pointer to a structure as a parameter.The C and VB code is as follows.Am I passing the structure in calling the DLL correctly? I am asking because the API call returns a valid error code indicating error opening the com port specified. I tried all valid ports (com1 on a Vista 32 machine with a USB-Serial device and com1 defined in device mgr, com1 and com2 on a desktop with winxp and 2 real serial ports).I dont have the code for the DLL and cannot debug into the DLL code.

I'm sure this is a pretty simple question but I can't seem to find the answer on Google. Say I've got a function that does some stuff and returns a string. I can assign its return value to a variable:
Dim result As String = MyFunction()
But sometimes I want to perform the actions within the function but I don't care about the return value. I know I can simply call the function from code.

This works and does exactly what I need it to. My question is - are there any issues or pitfalls in doing this? Particularly I want to make sure I'm not introducing any performance or memory leak issues.

I've gotten a DLL from a supplier. Most functions I can call just fine, but some crash (System.ExecutionEngineException, doesn't even do with a try-catch...). The thing is that the ones that work are called with simply types, and the ones that crash have a type/class/structure in it.The documentation states how to call with "Visual Basic" without stating version. Here's how it looks..[code]I did figure out to use "Integer" in stead of "Long" and the strings needed some work but are fine now.Now... The "Type" doesn't exist in VB.NET so what should I do. Tried a class but that didn't work.I can call the DLL with "bad" data and get a good reply, eg "this and that is wrong with the input", but when I set that straight it crashes. I suspect that it's when it starts to write in the memory allocated by me and that does not match what the DLL expect.
BTW when I look at the class I made, I can see that - at least VS - lists the members in an alfabetical order. Is that how it's arranged in memory and could that be the problem if the order is different from the one expected by the DLL. I would epect that the total size was the same irrespective of order, so the problem would arise when I try to read the data and I would get junk.
