View 2 Repliesstore and retrieve image in a SQL Server database with vb.net.:Well, the application in vb.net seems to have a database which can accessed by the LAN computers so the SQL Server 2005 database allows remote computers to share its database once the other computer application requests database from the server. So, every other computer has to store and retrieve images in SQL Server 2005. For example, comp1 has to store images taken into the server and retrieve it like tableadapter.
I am using bindings and tableadapters to store the details in database and retrieving information from db. Please if you have code or anything which is working for me, please post it here... how to store image and retrieve it SQL Server through vb.net provided there's LAN computers who are also sharing the SQL Server database.

View 3 RepliesI have a Windows 2008 IIS web server that runs an online application. The applications runs on a local SQL database. Images, however, are not stored in the database. The images are stored in a separate folder on the web server. When I run the application on the local LAN, I just use a standard UNC path to access the folder with the images. I want to start running my application over the internet. I can't use UNC paths over the internet.
how can I access this shared folder with my VB.NET program over the internet?

View 9 RepliesThis is my first attempt at creating a Winforms application, and I have been developing in the .Net Framework (Silverlight, ASP.Net, WPF) for about 6 months. So, my appologies if this is a newbie question.
Basically what I am doing right now is taking the drawings of a stylus-based input, and storing them into an image field in a SQL Server database. Then, in another form, I go and get that image out of the database, and load it into a picture box. It works, but it is rather "sloppy" how it got there. When the user clicks save, it stores that image into a temporary folder, then converts it to a byte array and throws it into the database that way. Then, it deletes the file from the temporary folder. When retrieving it, it pulls it out of the database in a byte array, then converts it to an image in a temporary folder, thus displaying it on the form.
Is there a way that I can just bypass the storing of the file onto the user's harddrive both times, and go from byte array to picturebox?

I have developed a VB.NET program using a strongly typed dataset. This dataset has its connection to a SQL Server 2008 R2. The software should now be additionally used offline. The database should be exported to a *.sdf database. If no connection to the SQL server is produced, the software have to try to connect to the *.sdf database.I would like to achieve:
1. Export the data in the SQL Server 2008 R2 database to a local *.sdf file.
2. This *.sdf file has to work as an alternate connection string in the strongly typed dataset.
How can I write a connection string? I has four different computer that can be connect via ethernet. How can I maintain a inserting data if to computer insert on same table at a single time..??
View 1 RepliesI created a database last week and now I have some images I want to add. I already included the image column and set the data type to image when I made it. How do I add the image into the database? All I want it to do is show the image in a gridview with many other details which are already showing in the gridview at the moment. I am not wanting other user's to upload images. It is an SQL Database which I created within Visual Studio.

View 1 RepliesI'm currently attempting a project where I need to display a series of images from a database, in thumbnail form, then fullscreen when they are selected. Next/Back arrows will be used to navigate through different pages of images. These images will be across a number of categories each one with a different table in the database. It is very important that the user can change the images in the database.
Rather than have a number of different pages and each image designated to a picturebox, I was wondering how I could make it so the program just displays the next 6-8 images from the database in the same picture boxes, giving a message when the it reaches EOF, This way the number and order of the pictures can be changed just by changing the database.
I am on a project where users can login /register /change status/ ... just like facebook. The problem is that i can't find a code that allow users to upload pictures as their profile picture. I think i should save the Url of the image in the database not all the image . I found a site where i can save the images: [URL] but i couldn't find a way uploading images to photobucket trough my application and get the url of the image ....:( What i really need is a way to upload images from my windows application form to my sql database.
