Can't Add WindowsMediaPlayer To Toolbox On Windows 7 X64
Sep 16, 2009
I installed with Windows 7 64-bit release candidate and am unable to add the Windows Media Player com component to my toolbox. When I select choose items and go to the com tab, it doesn't show up, actually there are considerably less com components in there altogether.I don't know if this is a Windows 7 issue, or a 64-bit issue. I tried browsing to wmp.dll to add it manually and it says "self-registration for c:windowssystem32wmp.dll failed".I've searched this error and came up with practically nothing.I have not had this problem when I used Vista 32-bit or Windows XP.
This just started happening yesterday. When I open the toolbar or properties windows (I have them pinned to the sides) there's nothing in them. I thought it was a setting that had been altered, but when I closed VS and re-opened it, they were there again. But now it's happening today and they're empty even if I reload. When I open the toolbar bar it just says 'There are no usable controls in this group...' (that's the general group, i.e there are no controls at all).
This illustration shows how I'm trying to get 2 vb.net user controls into the toolbox to use on a c# form. In toolbox Select Items I see the items checked but clicking OK or Reset doesn't make them appear in the toolbox. How do I do that? somehow the controls appeared in the Toolbox, but they're greyed out and unavailable.
I just installed Visual Basic 2005. I am having problems registering the windows media player on my toolbox.I followed the instructions on Article 821767 titled "How to play audio files using Visual Basic .NET or Visual Basic 2005", and selected the msdxm.ocx COM component. I keep getting a "Self-registration for C:WindowsSystem32msdxm.tlb failed" message.
I am using Windows VISTA and I have installed SP1 for VS2005. The VS2005 is run as Administrator.

I want to insert a Windows Media Player object in my Form, but I have not the control on my Toolbox.
I have done the steps:
Right-click the Toolbox -> Choose item -> COM Components -> add Windows Media Player component (which references to C:WindowsSystem32wmp.dll)
But there is not the control on my Toolbox.
In my project references I see "MediaPlayer" into "Imported namespaces" and it is checked. In the references window it is also present "Windows Media Player". Where is the error?
i know a way to play mp3 files, which is to go toolbox and add the msdx.ocx file. however is there anyway i could dynamically create an object that plays media files (other than .wavs)
I have a school project where an access database 2007 contains sound files, and I tried to connect it to VB 2008 express edition. I tried to use WindowsMediaPlayer control to run the sound files but VB does not recognize their type although I have chosen the (other) type to customize the control but it did not work. i really want to use WindowsMediaPlayer control. what should I do?
I 'am using Visual Studio 2008 Version 9.0.30729.1 SP with Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1..Every time I try to add a control to the ToolBox I receive the following message:"The following assemblies are installed SDK assemblies but could not be shown in the customize toolbox dialog because they are missing one or more components. Please make sure that all necessary libraries are available.

I am new to this. I have VB 2008 Express. I want to use the Reportviewer feature. I downloaded the add-in but it doesn't appear in the toolbox. Is the Reportviewer feature available in VB Express?
I'm having trouble adding a new control to my toolbox.I downloaded the projected and extracted.I the went to the VB toolbox, rightclicked the mouse button and selected choose items. I then clicked the browse button. I selected the folder I had extracted to and then went to bin/debug/menucontroltest.exe.
I made a control that inherits directly from ErrorProvider. I thought that applying it the ToolboxBitmap attribute would be enough to get my control to have the same icon on the toolbox as the original control has, but it doesn't. It's strange, as if I add the control to the form, it will appear just as it should, but it doesn't change the toolbox's icon. What am I missing here? I already restarted visual studio and it keeps this behavior.
[ToolboxBitmap(typeof(ErrorProvider))] public class ErrorProviderEx : ErrorProvider { ...
I have created 2 WPF control which reside in the same folder and i want to add one control to the other.
